I've just cracked a cold beer, after my first 2 hours play. In that two hours I haven't even started the main storyline - I've just explored the opening area, and killed a few gaurds, 'cause I could.

This game is seriously awesome. I love the free-running concept. It just makes thing happen - if Altair can find a way, he will, and it makes you as a player look cool in the mean-time. I took out a few guards before I even have any idea about the combat system. Cool as hell.

I've been planning on buying my 360 for 6 months or so, and Assassin's Creed was on my must buy list. So far, I have no regrets.

All you haters are little whiny *****es. This game RULES.

Smurf.

You could have spared us that last bit of superfluous junk.

Apart from that, after playing two hours myself I would have agreed with you. Please post again after 10-12 hours of playing and see if you don't find the game repetitive and the AI less than impressive.

Granted, that was a little over the top.

I'll keep you posted, but based on the relative panning the game has received, I'm very happy.

Well, I just finished the game last night and I have to say I have no real complaints. I enjoyed the story, the combat system was excellent and I'm more than satisfied with AC.

I think there's very little replay value, as I have no interest in finding all the flags. That would be my only minor gripe.

I will definitely buy AC2. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

A bit aggressive, but I agree with you as well, it's a very good game.
In my opinion, the problematic part with the repetition is mainly if you view the game as a race to the finish and to get all achievements. If you play deliberately, putting yourself in Altair's shoes, it feels more like it's meant to be there.

Thanks for the update Binarysmurf. I thought you might change your mind having played through the game, but good for you that you really liked the entire experience.

I got increasingly bored with AC and it was a huge let-down for me. I had high expectations but I found it to be almost absurdly repetitive. I guess I'll buy AC2 as well, hoping that the quality of the AI improves and that they find ways of making me keep my initial interest in the game.

You're just putting oil on a fire.
You're practically begging for all the haters to come here and whine about everything they dislike.

What makes you think I would care about that? I'm simply stating my opinion, which is no better and no worse than anybody else's.

You, on the other hand, seem to be implying that if a person dislikes certain aspects of the game he immediately is a "hater" and therefore must "whine". I'm not sure I agree with such a shallow and generic way of regarding one's fellow forum contributors.

The critics are right, it's repetitive but who cares?! It's really fun! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif They could make 20 instead of 9 and I would not be bored; when I finished I wanted more!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

You never can satisfy everyone, I just red Gamespot reviews and someone complained that the tower climbing is "too easy"; he wanted something more challenging of the Tom Raider or Prince of Persia type; God noo!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif I hope Ubisoft don't hear those they will not buy AC 2 anyway http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif What I loved in this game is the easy and cool way you climb jump and make acrobatics. I hate those games where you climb high and the less mistake and you are down to do everything again http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

But my point is that you can't keep everyone happy; something that is a "cool" feature for some; can be a bad point of the game for others.

I agree. That climbing is easy and intuitive on the controller - and by extension easy for Altair - is a good thing. It's an action that's supposed to be fluid and instinctive to Altair, so failure to make it feel that way to the player would just mess the game up.
