View Full Version : Cinematic Trailers

We've all seen the cinematic trailers of Assassins creed, 2, Brotherhood etc.. Right?
Two questions basically-
1. How are those cinematic trailers made? I heard they are made from computer generated imagery but is that all? Or something extra too? Are real people used in its making and then the backgrounds replaced with the in-game locations?
2. How much time will it still take to make the games (focus on AC series) as real as those cinematic trailers? It'd really be so awesome to play such realistic games...

The best playable graphics you can get nowadays are like in LA Noire.
All action for CGI trailers and the main games are done by motion capture on real people. LA Noire, and apparently ACR are gonna use new systems of motion capture to show facial expressions.
If you wanna play a game with CGI quality you'll need to have a very costly and very good quality graphics card, if it exists yet. Maybe in some years

1. I am almost positive the people are real, or mostly real because in a few parts you can see very minuscule details like the hair, which would take a long time to make, but the stuff in the background was obviously computer generated, you can tell because on the roof you can see the same model repeating
2. it would take a very long time to make it like that becuase of the large amount of detail and the only computers that would be able to run it would be the 9 million super computers, cinematics like that arnt rendered in real time it takes hours or days to render
