I am looking for a plane on IL2 similar to this (http://www.minihelicopter.net/AH64Apache/AH-64%20Apache.jpg)

I want a plane that can straff troops, damage tanks, destroy buildings, land on unprepared earth, carry a variety of ordanence, exelent in Close Air support, Attak, Patrol, Advanced, Semi Armored (or heavy), At least one 20 mm or 30mm, low alttitude, not fast, all weather; all this stuff.

If you have an idea of a plane that fits this, please telll me.

Your answer is the IL2 itself.

Owl The clue is in the name of the sim, IL-2 Sturmovik. It can do all the things that you mention and I have even managed to down quite a few enemy aircraft with it.
(ElAurens, you just beat me to it mate)

Yup, IL-2 it is. Or for '1946' scenarios, the IL-10.

Me-110 was the first that crossed my mind. Fantastic load out choices like 37mm cannon! Great fun, though you have to be very careful around single engined fighters, but when you kill them it is Very rewarding! And they often explode! Kool!
Or maybe P-47, great fighter bomber, but not a top notch fighter down low, so that's a fun challenge too.

(Discussion of) Helos have been covered at MOD sites. Despite the <STRIKE>Larch</STRIKE> Lerch, no one has figured out the physics of it from what I know.

Elsewise, you'd see a Bell Helo in the active KOREA MOD efforts. M*A*S*H would be fully reproducable were that done http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I don't think it's the Lerche itself that causes the confusion, I think it's just that the Lerche itself is quite different to a helicopter (no tail rotor, more control surfaces, etc.), and adapting the Lerche's FM would be harder than just making a new one, and no one can be bothered to do that.

If the Lerche were actually built I don't think it could actually fly the way it does in game.

Just so this doesn't end up as another 'what's wrong with the Lerche, and why couldn't we have a Lancaster instead' thread, here's one I made earlier... (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/7841095977?r=7841095977#7841095977)

If it was possible to make a conventional aircraft fly like a helicopter, they would never have built helicopters in the first place. Complex, high-maintainance, and can kill the crew in ways you've never even thought about.

Try the il2 series 3 1941 early single seater. I find I fly this more than any other. Great for ground attack murder on tanks, and you watch the FW190 avoid a head on with it. No good trying to fly 1941 A/C against 1944--45 fighters as the advance in technology in A/C was large. The il2 series 3 will hold its own against most A/C a year or two either side of "41", and with the 23mm cannons look out axis.

After yesterday, the P38 is my ultimate ground attack choice. It may not have the load of the Corsair, but it can damn well get away from anything after bombing, providing a shallow dive approach. And 10 HVARs is amazing

For the best in what you are asking, it is the Il2.
The Il2 could take a lot of punishment and carry a great deal of ordnance which is just what you are looking for.

Plus the concentrated firepower in the nose. You can start strafing from very far away with maximum effectiveness.
Too bad it's not armored.

Well, vulching is forbidden in the P-38 in most places, though for SP it's good. As for shooting airborne planes, I completely suck at it with the P-38, I never shot down anything with it except for bombers with HVAR rockets. I find it just has a too crippled roll rate to be able to make last second aim adjustments while maintaining decent speed. At most I managed to scratch a few incoming aircraft with the .50 cal and run away.

Though when there's someone on your six, I love extending airbrakes and doing a sharp turn, it's a nasty unexpected surprise for most pilots that the P-38L can turn like a spit with its airbrake, though not for long without losing too much energy.

After looking at your "Bye bye forums" thread, I regret editing it.
Sure, everyone is entitled to their own opinion, yours included, but the repetitive silly childish stuff you are doing in here clutters up the forum for the most part.
Sure some will say that you are only 14, but my oldest son who, last year was 14, was never pulling the kind of crap you do in here and on HL and God knows where else.

You can learn much from people here in this forum if you just LISTEN and READ.

I chose the Ki-27.

It is about as close to the Apache as we can get.

I made an Apache skin, and I usualy cary bombs in it.

It is a good plane for what I want it for.

Flying through the jungle, straffing taliban. The bombs are pretty good to.

It takes like 2 min of direct shot in the fusalage and wings to a Me-323. If the Ki-27 had a single 30 mm cannon, I'd fly that plane forever. I'l go ask for one at AAA.

Maybe give Il2 a break for some time. You need to be self reliant, and self disciplined which is a great thing to learn at 14.
If you can go a week with out playing, i think you might have your answer.

Obviosuly the plane you miss flying the most will be the one to fly until that other plane finds you.
Taking that joke this far just sounds weird though, so try not to take people so literally on these forums, Owl.

Anyhow, the Ki-27 is OK, but you're giving up armoured aircraft for great turning ability and little else.

If the Ki-27 had a single 30 mm cannon, I'd fly that plane forever. I'l go ask for one at AAA.

Darn.

Becuase the IL2 is not nimble enough to fly 4 feet of the ground and fly around trees.

I wish it had an armored windscreen though, just like the AH-64.

You should know that at AAA they will not alter a FM, DM or WM and will frown upon those who ask for such things there.
No one there will openly come out and make weapons configurations that never existed or were obviously impossible.
Asking for a 30mm on a Ki-27 is a sure way to put yourself on the radar of the moderators over there.

The quick answer is stop fixating and expand your horizons. Fly everything. Whatever it is that you've flown the most avoid it and fly something different.

Find something that most people don't fly and fly that one for a while. The advantage of that is unless you're on an experienced server sometimes you can surprise people by doing things that they don't think you can do.

I went on a bit of a Ki-100 stint for a while. Lots of dogfight servers offered it up and nobody was flying it. So for kicks I'd go into a server like that... full of Spitfire IXs and La-7s and surprise the crap out of them with how agile a well flown Ki-100 is and how fast the 100 is in a dive. I got shot down a fair bit... but it was enormously entertaining http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

To answer your original question if you're looking for a fighter bomber or a close support aircraft then here's my short list:

- IL-2 and IL-10
- Tempest Mark V
- P-47D (any model)
- P-38J or L
- Bf110G-2

They all have their good points and bad points. Lots of fun to be had with all of them. Personally I love low altitude fighter-bomber strikes loaded down with bombs and rockets hitting targets at tree top height. It's not quite like an AH-64D flying next to a tree top but it is a heck of a lot faster!

Thr cannon is more powerfull then the Apaches, it is faster then the Apache, but able to slow down enough to fly through the forest as I want.

Wonderful plane!
Made and Apache skin for it.

Wow!

I really want one of those mobility scooters but have found a great alternative. My car. It handles better, is faster and crucially can carry passengers.
That is until I found the spitfire. Man the spitfire blows all mobility scooters out of the water! Not only does it FLY but has guns and is even faster than the scooters.

Pretty sick!

The LaGGs are fairly decent but for speed, agility and firepower, nothing really beats a Spit http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif
On another note, post count is not really a big deal around here.

I disagree for all but turning, were they are equal.

LaGG is very fast, like the Mustang at 10 meters.

Firepower,

Spitfire has a bullet power of 24 combined.

LaGG-3 has a bullet power of 112 combined.

go to AAA and ask them to make you this one:

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v479/Daiichidoku/Helicopter.jpg

DOMBROWSKI-SEDLITZ HELICOPTER
As World War Two loomed on the horizon, a number of the more progressive thinkers on the Polish general staff realized that mobility would be a great factor against the German Panzers if fighting broke out. This meant rapid movement of their elite cavalry and horse-drawn artillery-faster than even the Polish railway system could carry them. Finally, a design submitted by the famous Polish aero firm of Dombrowski-Sedlitz was settled upon, a secret helicopter-autogiro machine powerful enough to lift a mounted cavalry battalion of five 85mm artillery pieces and caissons. However, its 6000-hp diesel locomotive engine, coupled with the riveted, sheet-iron construction of the fuselage, left the Dombrowski-Sedlitz weighing a hefty 56 tons. This gave it barely enough power to lift itself into the ozone, much less its pay load. What's more, the engine took up so much room that the only remaining space was consumed by the pilot and three mechanics it took to operate the craft while in flight. This handicap, plus a vexing tendency for the machine to break its manual, nonsynchro, three-speed transmission-leaving the propellers powerless-forced its grounding after two flights. Minus its wheels and propellers, it presently powers a Ferris wheel and merry-go-round at the People's amusement park in Bydgoszcz

I can't think of any reasons why it would have any problems.

Backwards compatibility with campaigns is not usually a problem except when they change something basic in how the AI handles things. That hasn't happened in years.

Online doesn't have to be Hyperlobby.
It can even be a one on one match with whomever you choose.
I have done 1 on 1 dogfights with many different pilots here, even Ian Boys which was good fun.
There is NOTHING boring about a 1 on 1 dogfight with some other spectators watching. Very exhilarating actually.

Back to the topic, my choises for assault and anti-armour job are IL-2, IL-10, P-38 and Bf-110. The 110 is capable of taking out more (heavy) tanks on a single sortie than any other aircraft not carrying nukes, while Ilyushins just are able to smash everything down in the first pass and return to finish off the surviving softer targets, some models even multiple heavy tanks.

If you tell someone that you will do something, even a 1 on 1 battle, you had better do it or everyone here will know never to take you on your word, and you know you are going to get razzed for it.

Choctaw, give the kid a break. Maybe he got the timezones wrong, maybe he couldn't make it, maybe he just plain forgot...

If Owl's flying isn't as good as he makes out, he wouldn't be the only one here like that either.

Some people seem to have nothing better to do than get into petty squabbles about trivial things said on the forums or HL. They pick on Owl because he's an easy target. I'm not for one moment suggesting that Erkki_M is one of them, but there are a few out there that seem to take it to extremes that bring discredit to themselves and to the whole IL-2 community. They are also not above making up false stories about what Owl did or didn't do, so don't always believe what you hear.

i just started a thread on how one should go about avoiding such petty arguments.
I think we all endure a certain amount of tolerance for this kind of thing because life has a tendency to be ugly at times, and this is just a freakin video game. I try to be courteous and polite but no matter what, people always find it easy to step over the line and bait me into an argument that i'd rather not have, especially over something like a video game.

I find that no matter how right i am, nor how wrong or out of place the other is, such arguements make both people look like idiots. So i try to make nice and move on, but then you get people who carry on with their display to the point where its actually defaming you because they are exaggerating the action they've taken offense to.

Anyway, its just a freakin game, and the admins should do more to prevent this kind of crap.
