Hello and welcome to Il-2 world.

You can find all you need to know about the game in Bearcat's "Sturmovik Essentials" tread.

What you don't find you can ask here and someone will help you in no time.

Welcome. Yes, this is the best part of the forum to look through for beginners.

I recommend you download and play my newest campaign designed to help people practice takeoffs and landings. This campaign is aimed at new pilots as well as those people that want to improve their takeoff and landing skills. Here is part of the readme file:

The campaign is available at Mission4Today.

Straight From the Farm by Zeus-cat

This campaign is all about learning how to master takeoffs, landings and basic flight functions for several of the planes in the Pacific

Fighters (and IL-2 1946) simulation. This campaign was developed using a Pacific Fighters 4.01 installation and will work with any version of Pacific Fighters after 4.01 and all versions of the merged game including IL-2 1946.

The missions start off with very easy objectives and then progress to more complicated ones. Most of the missions cover one basic concept and are very short in length; typically lasting no more than 2 or 3 minutes. The later missions are somewhat more complicated as they piece together things you have learned in the earlier missions.

See this thread for more info:

Hi New Guy...
Hit this link (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645). ZC's missions are linked in there also.

Thanks for the hugs, apart from a few people who are kind of looking to discredit others because of their color(see the post over at the Tuskeegee Airmen topic about "strafing" bailed out German pilots,it made me sick to see an unsubstantiated accusation like that about the Tuskeegee Squadron)you fellas are on the money.

whenever new people comes to i keep thinking we should have a universal introduktion tread as Stiky.
then it should contain all essential links (as the one we have) and lots of FAQ (frequently asked questions) and answers like

i cant take off from carrier
rember to map a key for Chocks and release them when you take off

and of course. Welcome to you Nturner

The sticky idea is a really good one, especially since the game lacks any proper training missions. What Zeus Cat has done will help a lot of newbies.

Tsisqua's gone AWOL again so I'll have to say it: "welcome to the madness." This sim and this forum will grow on you. There's a lot of armchair experts, real pilots, historians, technical wizards and all around good folks in here. They must have gassed the trouble makers because I haven't seen any for awhile http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/88.gif

Welcome nTurner,

Its a great Sim, and this is the best place to find all the info you will need.
As you can already see there are many here that are very generous with their time and knowledge.
I am relatively new here, and what I am learning has already greatly inhanced the enjoyment of the game for me.
Happy Flying

Hello m8 and welcome.
I rarely answer posts anymore because I've said too many things already, of wich not many are worth repeating. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

If u need any help and not sure where to ask, just post in this, the general discussions, and U will get some, or pointers where to go.

For all technical questions go directly to the tech forum:

I got lots of help here during all these years I've been here. I even learned stuff despite my complete incompetens during the early days of the sim.
