S! All,

Well, As I have said in another thread, none of the IL2 stuff ever makes it to the stores in my neighborhood, so I usualy take a little drive to a mall about an hour from here in Huntington WV. Best Buy is where I like to go.

I've resisted ordering the dvd, but at this point I am beginning to wonder if U.S .distribution is even going to happen. I don't really want the download, since it defeats the purpose of having everything from the series on one retail disk. The discusion that takes place here these days is all around the 4.07 version, and I can't discuss something here that I haven't seen. Sort of depressing to come here.

So . . . would someone with some inside info let me know if UBI plans on a US release before my retirement. I've decided to wait till the first week in Feb. to finally give up and make an order from Go Gamer, but the lack of interest in the U.S. market can't be a good sign. I'm suspecting that the last couple of releases didn't do as well here in the US as was hoped, and perhaps this is the reason.

Ahh, well. Maybe I can still have hope that us Yanks are still important customers. Just know this, UBI: There are still alot of faithful pilots here in the US who want this. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Nobody knows (rightly imo) the terms of the settlement between UBI & a certain North American aircraft-building conglomerate, or how that may have affected distribution of additions to this sim in that country.

Big business or just sheer pique! Who knows?
For sure it's a dog-pack that were better left sleeping!

Btw...4.07 is definitely worth losing your scruples over...& nice to see you back around http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I'd say just get it from GoGamer and be done with it. We have the convienence of the internet today to get what we want from pretty much anywhere in the world. How much easier could it be than to have it delivered right to your door. You'd spend as much time and money in gas vs the shipping cost.

I'm sure IL-2:1946 will make it to the stores eventually here inthe US but by that time most of the hardcore players will have already picked it up. Don't deny yourself the pleasure of 46 by waiting for stores here to carry it.

They know who we are, and where were at.
In conclusion, the cost of shipping added to the purchase is close, if not equal to your cost in gas, to go fetch one, as if you could even find one on the shelf. Just spend the extra clams with Gogamer, and get your disk and your unsatisfide appitite quench saving gas and your time.

With the exception of a sound card I got on clearance (a Soundblaster X-Fi Extrememusic for $49--couldn't pass it up. It was cheap because they lost the CDs and only had the card so all I had to do was download the drivers and not have to install all the extraneous **** I didn't want anyway--but I digress.) I haven't bought electronics or much of anything in a brick and mortar store in at least 5 years. Even bought my last car online.

Heh, total geekdom in that I even do the grocery shopping online. Local store allows you to place the orders, they do the shopping for you and since it's on the way home from work I swing by, pay for the groceries and the $2 fee and I'm on my way. What used to take 2 hours every couple of weeks takes 15 minutes tops.

Oh, and yeah, I ordered the DVD from GoGamer too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Considering the 46 release is an All-inclusive package that brings every buyer up to speed without having to go through Santa Ria-like ritualistic patching (with the exception of 4.071), the genre, and this community have/are missing out on a slew of new pilots.

On most of my recent online activity, I've observed a nice influx of new pilots. Obviously, most of which are European. I think this is great as I enjoy the exposure to other cultures but I'm also dedicated to this hobby and it's losing a large opportunity to expand its participants by making the process here in the US a convoluted one at best.

Thanks to guys like Jason @ GoGamer that process is being made considerably easier. I actually pre-ordered from them (something I said I'd NEVER do again) and the process was smooth, easy and I recieved it promptly 3 days after its release. I realize not everyone has a credit card or they may have reservations about ordering online, but this is the best option for us yanks at the moment.

Larry-

I made my first ever online purchase through gogamer, for 1946

Easy, and painless. Paid for two day shipping, and it was still under 90 bucks for two copies (one went to Canada)

Now that I've joined the 21st century with my connection speed, I'll be buying some pedals and comm hardware through them too I think http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

I was very satisfied with gogamer's service

Yo Tsisqua! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

TOAD nailed it, gogamer is the way to go. I got mine in about 3 days via priority mail (USPS).

Swing by the sty and spam a bit or something man! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif (some of our PMs were lost in the forum crash here, I still don't have an email addy to contact ya)

I got my copy of 1946 from GoGamer in 3 or 4 days, shipped from West coast to East coast with the super cheap (or whatever it was called) shipping option. I was so pleased that I just ordered a track clip for my tir from them, rather than getting it from NaturalPoint directly.

I'm all for supporting GoGamer as much as possible, in the hope that they will continue to bring us these otherwise unavailable titles.

I had my copy from gogamer a few days before christmas. I'm in Delaware. No problems.

I'm not sure why all the fuss about not being avalible in the US. Everyone has been yelling GoGamer since pre-order days. Well... I listened and I have my copy. Maybe its credit card issues? Does GoGamer have money order or Echeck options? If they do Then no one will have an excuse not to have 1946

Wow, Guys.

Thanks for the input, and especially after reading TOAD's post, I've decided to order. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/touche.gif I do find it disappointing that it won't be as easy as it used to be to get new pilots into the game if they can't just go to a local store to pick it up. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Then, there are the ones who would pick it up to try it just because they had an interest in WWII aircombat and saw it on the shelf.

Thanks for everything, all http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Oh, and DDT: tsisqua@hotmail.com

Drop me a line http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/typing.gif

Oh, yes, TOAD, my trip to get the games is a very enjoyable thing for me, and it isn't at all the money. I often spend way more on the shopping trip than on the software; I stop someplace different to eat, I buy other stuff while there, and I will spend the entire day just looking at stuff that I can't afford. But I guess that you, the game, and everyone else here shouldn't be deprived of my antics. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif Thanks, Mate! I laughed so hard that it hurt when I read that.

Like others have said, just order the DVD online. I was in your situation, kept checking stores in my area (Dallas) since before XMas, couldn't find it anywhere. I finally gave in and bought it online a few days ago, I hope it is waiting for me when I get home. Best Buy, the store you mentioned, was specifically one of the stores I checked; in fact, I checked at least 3 to 4 BBs in my area and they never had it (also checked Fry's, GameStop and various other stores).

Your welcome.

See don't you feel better already, amazing what can happen when faced with a bit of reason. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/10.gif

Oh and I fully understand the enjoyment of the trip, to town.

Problem is often not only do I spend money on what I want, I have to spend on the the rest of the family's wants, and we go home flat broke, and the thrill is over and gone soon after.

In the amount of time taken from the trip.
You could of made the order. Ordering online is way cheeper, and more satisfiing in the long run, for your own direct needs (wants) and alows you more time to manipulate the misses into a realm of peace and tranquility. By doing a few honey do's. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Then after flying she might still welcome you under the covers chief http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

A Win Win situation. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/59.gif
