Someone on slashdot pointed out this cool internet radio station that does only WWII music and other miscellaneous broadcasts... I thought a lot of you might like to check out:

http://ratpatrolradio.com

WinAmp or the Live365 clients both work.

The station plays mostly American stuff. It kinda fits real well with the release of PF though... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

If you like it or have other suggestions like this, post here so this thread floats for a couple days.

The music doesn't seem to want to play for me at that link. I wonder what I'm doing wrong?

There's another site here: RAF662 CFSG (http://www.raf662.com)

In the left hand column click on BBC Radio. Great period programming and a very cool site.

I haven't heard any yet. They do have a lot of Bob Hope USO clips though...

Well, you have certainly hit one of my hot buttons. As Glenn Miller would have said. "That sure is a swell station". Even although I am on dial up at 21 kbps, I was able to listen to the station after I downloaded the 365 Player. I have bookmarked everything I can and when I get high speed Internet a year from now, I will be listening to all the stations listed, frequently.

Many, many thanks for starting this thread. "Jeep Jockey Jump" here we come.

I couldn't find an active stream for this one. Has it been deactivated?

bif, click on the radio picture on the right side of the home page. It's working for me at the moment (Benny Goodman & His Orchestra - Perfidia.)

Thanks for the links guys. To get the complete effect, I suppose I'll have to rig up a "squawk box" in the corner of the room, and have an open box of month-old cookie crumbs next to the "current" issue of Life magazine.

anywau we could mix that with some real broadcasts from winston churchill or just some news from the war and stuff... just to get the right feeling of actually listen to WW2 radio?!?! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Doesn't seem for work for me either. All I can do is download individual tracks but no streaming.

It worked the first time it was posted but I think one of the unfortunate side effects of posting links of this nature on this forum is if the site doesn't have sufficiant bandwidth it gets borked by all the sudden visits. I noticed the same thing happend when I posted a link a while ago, shame I really enjoyed it
