i shot four torpedoes to this battelship stationing near scape flow. All four of them scored direct hit, and the ship was sinking ... and ... all of sudden, it just stopped sinking, stuck in the middle of open sea. is this because the ship is in shallow water? or do i need more torpedo?

it might be because of shallow water...

or perhaps they have nice combat damage control http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

use a stern tube magnetic in the middle and see if you can get it to break up...

or if u are crazy! surface and use a deck gun! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/784.gif

Going into Scappa Flow is a bear. Not only because of the Destroyers searching the watters around it, but because of the sub nets too. I've ran into 2 different sets of them now and what a mess.

Now a question for the "real" submariners here in the forums. Was it possible to actually use your per1scopes underwater?

i admit that getting into the vincity of Scapa flow was tricky. I had to dodge a dozen of destroyers and i ran into subnet. At first, i didn't realize what was happening, but when i check free view camera, ****, there was a subnet. i surfaced and passed the subnet and then stay submerged while heading toward the port. Of couse, i was detected by land units and soon, a fleet of destroyers were coming to that area like a bee going after honey. But, i was well away from the area when they arrived

yeah, and i think it was because of shallow water ... half of the battleship was already under water ... it just stuck on the bottom of shallow sea. I felt i totally wasted my time sneaking into Scapa flow when i couldn't sink that battleship.

I guess you could call this a bug or an oversight maybe. The only way to sink a battleship in Scapa Flow is to make it blow up, otherwise it will just rest on the bottom and you won't get the credit for sinking it. How do you make it blow up, you ask? Well... sorry to say, but you just have to be lucky. Reload your game and try again.

i assume you mean look out of it when it hasnt broke the surface and look at stuff?

then yes. quite cool actually.

however, the seals through the pressure hull could only take so much. you wanted that scope down before going deep.

To sink the battleships in scapa flow it takes two fish. Aim between the conning tower and the first gun at the front, set for fast, impact, and at about 3m. It will set it on fire, while its burning, move around to the other side of the battleship and aim in the same place on the opposite side with a stern shot, same torp settings, it will blow a little bit, youll get the enemy unit destroyed message in your macro box and it will sink flatly on the bottom of the shallow ocean floor just pluming some smoke.
Think of battleships in scapa flow like a log you are trying to cut in half, hit it on one side then the other side and it will go down.

I got the Revenge with one torp at Scapa. I set it to 5 meters below the surface and put it dea underneath the rearmost turret.

BLAMMO

Parts of the Superstructure came down and there were plenty of fireworks. She went down, but didn't submerge because of the shallow water. I got credit though because of the damage from what I assume was the magazine going off.

I used my airscope once to park myslef under a damamged tanker to hid from the escorts. Worked too. I used the scope to see where I was going.
