Evening all,i just have a quick question.I have Pf404m version, and have purchased the 46dvd. How should it be installed, on its own, or can it be merged into PF?

Thanks

Personally i inststalled it 'on its own' to be able to play online (4.05) until the dedicated server is released. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif Also, the default installation is into a new directory: Program/Ubisoft/Il-2 Sturmovik 1946.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It installs with AEP, PF, and all 3 expansions automatically, and to the newest version.

Thanks Monkey, i just dont want to loose my pilot history. Installing stand alone is like starting from the beginning again. I just want to update my version to latest version and maintain key and pilot history.

To keep histories, back up your files

Please read carefully:

It is NOT possible to merge Il2Sturmovik:1946 into Pacific Fighters

Il2Sturmovik:1946 is the whole sim- it already contains Pacific Fighters

Il2Sturmovik:1946 is not an add-on to Pacific Fighters- Pacific Fighters may be a stand alone sim, or it may be merged with Il2Sturmovik:Forgotten Battles that has been updated with the Aces Expansion Pack

Your Il2Sturmovik:1946 DVD contains:

Il2 Sturmovik:Forgotten Battles
Aces Expansion Pack
Pacific Fighters
all free updates and patches for the above, to date
Pe-2 Peshka
Sturmoviks over Manchuria
Il2Sturmovik:1946

This package makes your sim v4.07m. The m stands for "merged". This convention was introduced when Pacific Fighters was allowed to merge with Forgotten Battles. It was originally intended to be stand-alone only, so they made an "m" notation to indicate the merged install

Every install of Il2Sturmovik:1946 with be merged

There is MUCh confusion over Il2Sturmovik:1946

It is currently available as a DVD package, and this brings the sim to 4.07m

It also will be available as a download. This will NOT contain ANYthing but the actual 4.07m update- it will not have anything else, and you will need to have downloaded or otherwise purchased each installment in order

Inside the C:\....\Il-2 PF folder, there is a folder called "Users" There are several files and subfolders wich contain all data about key mapping and any campaigns/medals you've flown. You can import this into the new 1946 DVD install without problem. Just keep the "users" folder somewhere safe, uninstall you PF 4.04m and install the new 1946 DVD. Put the old user folder in the new C:\....\Il-2 1946 folder and you have your old pilot stats back and more importantly, all the key assignments you made yourself.

If you downloaded and played any 3rd party, user made campaigns, you need to save and insert them into the new 1946 install in the same fashion. This is also the case if you have downloaded any user made skins.

It should be possible to install the 1946 DVD into your old PF 4.04M folder. But there is a real danger that your old pilot stats and key assignments will be overwritten with 'new' ones from the 1946 DVD. All of your campaigns and skins are allready in place but somehow, that 'solution' appears rather messy to me so, I will do it like I described above.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I could'nt agree less.If you have built this sim up over several years as most of us have, then the cost per smile is very low.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
