View Full Version : More Ship Models

Does anyone know if there is any talk of more Navy ship models in the works? Specifically, more BBs class models for all sides?

I think the word is "No more ships" I know, it's almost criminal not to have the Enterprise in a WWII pacific game, but I think the whole Pacific thing is lost on the euros...

Stand by for "Is plane game..not navy game" and "all ships look same anyway"

no not again

Hello. Speaking as a euro I am VERY disappointed at the ship content http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif I have been interested in carrier ops since I was 14 years old (I am a LOT older now) I cant understand why we have the Tirpitz? It is a shame that whoever did the ship models wasnt interested in the IJN or USN but hopefully when the BoB eventually gets back to the Pacific the current ships can be upgraded to the new specs and NEW content introduced http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I like it more and more and more I wish me also a real Campaign in the Pacific with real Carrierfights and Battles with IJN vs US Taskforces who clashes on the Sea with the necessary Air-Support.
A resupply management like "Task Force 1942" or "Burning Steel series" (made in the early 1990´s) for these all, it´s my Dream!!

No not again, nice to see a euro thats into the pacific theatre! I think the carrier war was fascinating, and have been suprised by how many folks disagree with me.

The Tirptz was in it because I decided to model it. Like many of the 'fantasy' planes that are done, they are mostly by 3rd party people. It was for FB, not for PF.

I also made the most ships for PF. What was modeled was mostly dictated by the reference available. For example, there was ample material for a CV9, but not CV8. The other Essex class boats are just repaints of the CV9 (I didn't make that one, tho).

Various delays made it so not many ships were made. The MG crew deserves a big pat on the back for what became of PF, finishing broken models and making more skins.

Beauty job on the ones we did get!

I understand that, as PF now stands, it is impossible to realistically simulate any Pacific naval action that took place anywhere at any time.

At the time PF was first announced, is there anyone here who would have believed a game with Oleg's name on it could have ended in such a state?

I cannot understand how anyone can look at this and not see PF as a gigantic failure.

The last complete Pacific Theatre sim was written for DOS.

Oleg has confirmed that no additional BBs, no Japanese Cruisers and no additional Carriers will be added... for that matter no additional ships will be added even though a Yorktown and Liberty ship model are already completed.

Too bad PF won't get the window dressing it needs for some convincing Naval dive and torpedo bombing... namely the above mentioned ships and some believable evasive manuveuring. I always hoped we'd see a great Maddox Pacific sim... what we got was a great, half finished Pacific sim. Something is better than nothing.

Regards, Goshikisen.

Agreed, and many thanks to Fritz and others for what's been done.

Thanks for the models Fritz and everyone. I actually am a big fan of Tirpitz (and her sister Bismarck) and enjoy trying to bomb it.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif

Makes a nice addition to our new Murmansk map.

And hey we got some carriers, glass half full. (Yes would have loved IJN cruisers, etc.)

Hello again. Thanks for the info Fritz http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I DO appreciate the effort that you put in to the models and its a shame that we have no Swordfish to try and sink her with. I would LOVE some more ships but hopefully in a few years we might have what we wanted. bye for now

I also thank Fritz for his hard work, surely a labor of love. But, I would love to have just one generic early American BB model, such as the Arizona, to make the Pearl Harbor scenario more convincing. So close to being perfection, yet so far...

YEs, The models we have are great. I was not complaining. I am just a US BB buff and miss my N Carolina Class http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif It is all well, I am gonna make one w/ 3ds max for a Major school project

The USS Colorado(as I recall) was modeled. what happened to it?

08-15-2005, 07:21 PM
I remember seeing that model too. I don't think it was finished.

That's a pity.
