So my trusted Gaming Chair from about 15 years ago has quit on me :p and now I am in the need for another one but the ones I see are either to funky in color combinations or just expensive because they want to. I am looking to spend the least amount of money but I could go up to 150 bucks.

What are you guys using personally? Again, I want something that will be comfortable for a couple/few hours of gameplay. I don't need to rest my legs because I am a feet away from my monitor but it seems to come with pretty much all of the newer gaming chairs.

And no, I am not looking for beanbags or sofa but more of a computer desk chair (old school here).

Something like this is what I am seeing but I don't know if I need a Gran Turismo/Formula 1 type of chair :o

I just use a 20 dollar chair from office max, and it serves me pretty well.

Back when I was gaming on PC and still working from my office at home from time to time, I was using a leather high back executive chair I bought on sale at an office store IIRC. It was wide, cushiony and very comfortable. ....I've fallen asleep in it on more than one occasion.

Not sure why these race seat-like chairs became all the rave but if I were in the market again, I'd likely buy the same kind of chair I had (still have actually although a little worse for wear) or something more like the one I had at work which was an Herman Miller Aeron but in the $800 price range. .....obviously the company got it at a lower cost due to volume.

Either way, chairs are a very personal thing IMO as everyone has different body shapes, personal comfort levels, leg lengths, injuries that can affect choice, etc. I have a bad back and can't stand any lumbar support in my office chairs or vehicles. ....it tends to push on the tender part of my spine. I also don't like chairs with short length seats as they can tend to put pressure on the bottom of my thighs and then make my back tense. I'm a little weird in that I can't stand sitting on most "proper ergonomic" chairs and find the cushy ones much more comfortable for sitting long periods. ....at least in the affordable price ranges we're talking about here.

Awh, the one situation where console gamers have the advantage over PC gamers. Massaging recliners FTW!

This is not my exact chair, mines a few years older, and dark navy blue but it's the same =/=. It matches my desk height perfectly, just have to swivel in and out of the desk, since it doesn't roll back.

As far as types like you have pictured, I'd say every single one that I've every tried has done for "gaming chairs" what Breakpoint has done for Ghost Recon.

Stomp, care to link me to that 20 cheeseburgers chair? I really don't want to waste a lot of money on it, more so because once this pandemic passes, I am going to finish my mancave and I already have comfy electric sofa waiting for me to game on my 55" screen TV up on the wall, etc, etc, but for the moment that project is on hold, a handy man I am not and I don't want to do it myself and end up having a Breakpoint in my hands

Kean, Thank you. No, that is exactly my issue, it seems all the gaming chairs now MUST be this futuristic looking things with racing colors and I am looking for something comfortable, I have the same issue, bad back, bad knees, I'm about 6' close to 200 lbs now that eating is mostly what I am doing since we are working less and less.

Crock, thank you for making it easy to hate you so, so much!

Dooms... Bastid :o Well, that is almost exactly what I am having to use at the moment, one of the dining table chairs. Oh my Lord, I did not know I had those bones and muscles that are now aching! :(

I think a silver lining here might be that there may be better options in more traditional office chairs that may be even more comfortable for you in the same price range given the popularity of these gaming chairs folks seem to like.

I just looked briefly on Costco but they didn't have much.

As for me, I prefer special massage chair for gaming. It's like 2 in 1. I'm talking about chair like this

I don't really remember the name of my model, but it looks exactly like this one. I think, some guidelines from the internet like this one (https://wisepick.org/best-massage-office-chair/) will help you.

Don't know if this relevant for OP (is there any abbreviation to your nick that one could use?), but last year I got enough of those gimmicky gaming chairs and actually saved up for a 24 hour chair. These chairs are designed for call centers, 911 dispatchers, control rooms and other applications that have someone constantly seated round-the-clock so for a gaming hobbyist like myself it's definitely a bit overkill but let me tell you, once you dial it in you can literally sit on it as long as you want without feeling any fatigue or pains, provided you keep a correct posture and do a bit of stretching every now and then. The one in this picture is the exact model I got, just in all black color.

Fair warning, the prices for these are absolutely eye watering, I had to save up for a few months and aside from my computer itself this is the most expensive piece of kit on my gaming setup. But at least for me the benefits have been far greater than the initial cost.

I brought the GT Omega Pro. Wasn't the cheapest option and it doesnít have the speakers, but itís extremely comfortable, every part you can imagine is adjustable for comfort, which was important for me and itís really durable and hard wearing. Iíve had it a year or so and itís still like new, no wearing, fading or tears. These high-back racing-style (https://www.audioreputation.com/gaming-chairs-with-speakers/) chairs are perfect for gamers or anyone else looking for a cool-looking and a comfortable chair to sit in.

Man, you should try a recliner for real. I had a DXraxer gaming chair, but parents bought a couple recliners like these (https://www.reclinerland.com/best-wall-hugger-loveseat-recliner/), and I took one of them, they are soft af, you can even sleep in them
