I started a thread some time ago,
http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums?a=tpc&s=400102&f=63110913&m=5111080052&r=5111080052#5111080052
providing hard evidence that the "bulge" placed on the top of the pilots helmets in FB/PF is totaly anhistoric and wrong, asking the production team to get it removed from the pilot model.
Making some tests on my new US Navy/Marines pilot skin I discovered that this feature is already implemented in PF but only for F4U (I must admit I don't fly Allies very often)! See the comparison pic: On the left F6F3,on the right F4U1!Look how more accurate the pilot looks in the bulgless helmet. This fix need to be done in every plane in FB/PF.
Please Oleg and Team assign this corrected model to every plane in FB/PF ...

Um.. yeah sure. Like this really matters. What's wrong with you Elephant? Do you actually expect that the Maddox team will bother to address such a pitifully petty and insignificant issue? In no way whatsoever does this affect game play or enjoyment or performance! Shame on you! You should be spanked for your belligerent arrogance! It's people like you that do nothing but aggravate the developpers and possibly send them into fitful spasms! Find something else do to with your time if you have nothing better to offer than this ridiculous beef! Maddox' time is better spent on serious matters that actually make a difference. Pardon the serious tone on my behalf but get real man!

I think you guys need to chill out. Elephant has done a lot for the community with his addition of absolutely outstanding pilot skins. Oleg obviously values historical accuracy very highly and he obviously thought it was important enough to begin fixing. I wouldn't be surprised if all the pilots ended up with correct helmets before too long. Furthermore, even though this seems like a smaller detail this doesn't even come close to some of the outlandish requests that have been made over the years.

Thanks for the irony FluffyDucks http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif
Yes I know it's not a high priority matter but it's an easy fix, just to paste the corrected model to the planes. It's already there,it does not affect the skins, why not to the other planes too?
And yes to a pilot skinner like me me is irritating to see a 60's helmet applied to a WWII pilot!
Simply as that!

Seriously. I'd like to see the work Fluffyducks and Jabberwocky have done for the sim.

You two Elephant an apology, and not because he does a lot for the community

You owe him an apology because you're way out of line. Just because you feel it's insignificant, that doesn't entitle you to treat any member this way. I hope the next time either one of you have an issue you'd like to talk about in this forum, you're told that nobody cares and it doesn't matter! "It's people like you who.." Horse manure! It's people like you who should be ashamed. If there is an element that is fixed in one plane or in one pilot model, shouldn't they ALL be addressed? That's what this forum is for! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

If the model is already in the sim then how hard would it be?

Nice find Elephant. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

U guys are new here... it seems you have no iddea about the way this games evolves and that you find all sort of new things from time to time that are making us all happy. The new smokes for example... the new pilot here for another... Read Chuck_Older's post and before posting again, think twice about what you are going to say and if really contributes in a positive manner to the forum.

I completely agree with both of you Chuck and Bear... Salute to you both for standing up in the name of decency. We could use a lot more of that stance in ORR of late.

Get real, you guys and wise up. I have as much right as ANYONE on this forum to express MY opinion, if you don't like it, too bad.
Anyone posting a thread with capitals and explanation marks like Elephant did, for such an inconsequential matter, deserves all they get. If he was so concerned, why air it in this forum? why not a discrete email to Oleg and his team? I'm sure IF there was time and IF it were possible Oleg would look at it.
Smacks to me of someone saying: "look what I found!!! a mistake!! aren't I clever for seeing it! no-one else saw it but ME!!" In other words self aggrandisement at the expense of Oleg and his team. I truly think it sucks.
What Elephant does with his OWN time, is his concern, nobody holds a gun to his head and forces him to do whatever he does.
Some of you guys need to wake up and take a walk outside once in a while to see what REALLY matters. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif

I really don't have the time, I'm currently involved in creating a thesis for my Doctorate, on how many washers were used to create a Hurricane. As you may imagine it's a tricky business, due to the various marks, and also due to the theatres covered. For instance, just how many washers did the soviets remove, when they did field mods???.
Of course definitions are important, just what, exactly, defines a washer per se?
Do you count split washers, locking washers, and slip washers. etc.. etc...
It may seem irrelevant, inconsequential, and a TOTAL waste of time, but someone has to do it.

What part of Private Message escapes you? On top of the first post, you'll see a header. On it will be a file folder icon. it says "New". Click it. Then choose Private Message. Post your message to anyone you like using our usernames.

This forum is not for arguing your opinions on what's important and what isn't. It is for gameplay issues such as: inconsistent modelling and errors concerning them. Please use Private Message to continue your argument, you will get more than enough to satisfy you.

Dear FluffyDucks,
You missunderstood my whole point.
I was not abussive to anyone,I just made a remark on a matter that is and will be significant to me .I used the Capitals and explanation marks because I was exited with the find and wanted to share with the community.
I didn't force anyone to accept my point of view like you do.
I myself didn't and will not tell you anything at all about YOUR opinion, your manners though pisses me off!
End of story .

I accept what you are saying Elephant, I just don't think there was a need for any of this, an email to the dev team would have been more in order. (I think).
I have no problem with yourself or your posts really, just don't see the need myself(my opinion).
I do have a problem with self appointed moderators, dictating what I can or can not say, just because they have 30 posts and I only have 15 though, and I will pull the puffed up windbags tails, because it really upsets them, and its easy to do. No offense meant to you in any way.

This forum has always been a place for people to share their ideas about improvements and development of the sim. An e-mail to Oleg and his team is very effective but sometimes you need some support from the community to get something changed. I would also think that many people, myself included, had no idea that this had been changed and I for one found it to be a semi-interesting piece of news.

elephant_il2

The e-mails were already sent.I just wanted to share my concerns with the community, and as BigBear mentioned above we have heard of more exegerated whines before, than a simple editing thing I'm asking for.
After all Mr Maddox himself has pointed previously, that he is willing to fix anything in game as long as he is provided with real facts.

Well so far I've made the basic shirt/trousers uniform (sleeves up or down),two types of life jackets, five variations for both cloth and leather flight helmets and I want to add an overalls flight suit option plus multi colored cloth flying helmets and some tiny little details such as survival packets for the vests and may be rank insignia.Along with the DGen portraits it's going to be a huge pack with 32 personalised pilots like in real life.
