View Full Version : Terrible PC Stuttering Since Last Patch

RDCRUSH

Ok so I am going to try to be as calm and respectful as possible here but this is obviously ridiculous... The game has been stuttering HEAVILY for me and many others since the last patch on PC. I have been one of the biggest supporters of this game but I am truly running out of patience at this point. So about the actual issue, I get it across multiple PCs and accounts. I will provide the specs of my two PCs I have been getting them on. I also have some clips of it from my stream while I am going for my first pass on Black Belt. PLEASE get this issue solved ASAP or I will be forced to stop playing after I suffer through these stutters and snag this Black Belt pass.

I have never had any stuttering issues on PC really since launch. Maybe 1 or 2 minor ones over the course of the last year. Since the patch I have had 100+ in two days of playing.

I should also mention I have the game on my xbox one x as well and it works fine from the little I have played on it since the patch.

I also have the game on switch but haven't played on that since the patch, so I can't say for switch.

I tried both my accounts on both of these PCs and got a huge game freezing stutter every 5 minutes or so :(

Accounts (UPLAY):

RDCRUSH
xRDCRUSHxXx

PC 1 (Custom Build):

Intel i7- 8700K

NVIDIAŽ GeForceŽ GTX 1080TI

24GB of RAM

Game is on an NVME SSD

PC 2 (Razer Blade Stealth 13):

Quad-Core 10th Gen IntelŽ Core™ i7-1065G7 Processor

NVIDIAŽ GeForceŽ GTX 1650 4GB GDDR5 VRAM

512GB PCIe M.2

16GB LPDDR4 3733MHz dual-channel onboard memory (Fixed)

Clips of issues (Adult Language Warning lol):

https://www.twitch.tv/rdcrush/clip/PoisedCorrectToothGrammarKing (THIS ONE I WAS MESSING TO SEE IF VSYNC ON WOULD HELP... NOPE)

https://www.twitch.tv/rdcrush/clip/PlacidMagnificentCiderRitzMitz

THIS ONE HURTS THE MOST! :(
If you know Black Belt you know this would have been a killer run for going for first pass... But the game stuttered right on the final bounce of one of the hardest checkpoints. Yeah I was not too happy in this moment. I hope Ubi and RL realize that these issues are serious and can affect the game like this in a major way.

I don't think I can provide any more details or evidence than this, but if something else is needed let me know.

If you also have experienced this please speak up here.

Yeah, i can also confirm that after the last patch the stutter has become major and very noticeable. It drops like 40fps down and the game freezes for a second or two. There was a stutter before too, but nothing crazy like that, and i've seen it happen on stream with other people.
I'm on PC btw.

Hi there, you two!

Thanks for reaching out about this issue and I'm sorry to see that you both have been dealing with this at this time.

To get this resolved, let's try a few steps. Firstly, please make sure you both have tried verifying your Uplay PC game files (https://support.ubisoft.com/en-US/Faqs/000025650/Verify-Game-In-Uplay?fallback=en_GB) or PC troubleshooting steps (https://support.ubi.com/en-us/faqs/000025947)?

First off to answer your question, yes I did do all the things on the troubleshooting guide and verified files. I even did full re-installs on both machines. I don't mean to be rude, but lets skip the cookie cutter support responses. This patch clearly broke this game, let's discuss the steps Ubi RL is going to take to get these fixes to everyone ASAP. Most people on PC are having issues across a whole bunch of different systems and accounts. It is something that changed with the patch, I want to help you guys figure it out so I posted here.

Same thing here, every now and then the game will pretty much just freeze for half a second or so. Haven't played much rising in the last few seasons (if at all) so can't 100% confirm it's an issue with the latest patch but seeing as it's exactly the same problem as what RDCRUSH is having I'd say that's probably it.
Just verified my game files, launched the game as admin and got another freeze ~five minutes in. My pc also meets and exceeds the minimum system requirements (ryzen 3600/vega 56).

Yeah this has been ridiculous the past two days for me as well. It's not as frequent as RDCRUSH, but if you've seen my stream it happens every 30 minutes or so. For me it's a massive 1 second freeze that throws off the flow of the game. I'm usually trying to go for really tough ninjas, low fault runs, and diamond medals, but with this recent patch it makes me not even want to attempt that stuff because of the frustration of failing a run due to freezes that are out of my control. I didn't have this issue hardly ever before this patch, please fix this ASAP, I want to keep supporting this game and the Trials franchise as a whole.

i mentioned it in the patch thread, and i was going to post a thread here once i got some video of the issue, but now that rdcrush has made this thread, i will just confirm the same problem. i've had increased frequency of hitching, combined with fairly frequent big second long freezes.

Same for me. Having those 1s+ freezes about every 20 minutes or so. It´s barely playable with that as I choked so many runs because of that. As the freeze also happened on Redlynxofficial´s stream I highly doubt that this is a thing WE as players have to resolve with the troubleshooting support. I really hope that there will be a solution asap without breaking anything else.

@RDCRUSH - unfortunately your twitch videos are not longer available -.-

Hey guys!

Thanks for reaching out and sharing details regarding the issue.

I can confirm that details have been passed along to our development team accordingly, who will investigate this further.

We do apologise for any inconvenience in the meantime.

Yea, when you're about to nail a particularly difficult run and the freeze happens... Might be best not to mention my thoughts at those moments. It'll chase players away fast though so I hope they get it fixed quick.

This has been so annoying not just to me but pretty much every PC Trials streamer I know, heck it's just as painful to watch as to directly encounter it.

Just in case:
Motherboad: MSI X570-A PRO
CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 3600
RAM: TOUGHRAM RGB Memory DDR4 3200MHz 16GB (8GB x 2)
GPU: SAPPHIRE Radeon R7 260X 2GB GDDR5

Hey there, everyone, and thank you for reaching out with these updates! If you can, please tell me what the reproduction rate is for you! Are you having this issue after a few hours or playing or right at launch? Are you having this with any mode or track or with specific gaming instances? Knowing this can definitely help as well as if you are able to create a support ticket here (http://support.ubi.com/Cases/New) with your MSINFO & DxDiag (https://support.ubisoft.com/en-US/Faqs/Details/kA030000000emSbCAI?name=how-to-submit-dxdiag-and-msinfo-files) attached so we can take a deeper look!

There is no delay. It starts happening right when you start playing. I have never had it not happen since the last patch. I have gotten it across all tracks and modes no matter what.

The only time I don't get it is when I am playing offline... Something to take into consideration.
Everyone I've watched on twitch gets the "Freeze/Stutter" too. Seems to be affecting everyone.
Might be interesting to hear if anyone is Not experiencing the bug and compare differences with them.

Pretty much tried all settings i can think of, but the game just lags, unless im playing with v-sync on, which is impossible for trials

AMD Ryzen 7 3700x 8-Core,
16GB Ram
Windows 10 home 64Bit 10.0 Build,
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER.

I feel like i should be able to run it fine

This stuttering is still ridiculous...
Went fine for weeks but out of nowhere the game is unplayable from the start.

Since one week there are those issues I've never had before. Today there will be an update but I really don't dare to dream that this could help.

You got another few days to fix it, after that the game will be erased.....

MadMotoMan

I hope it will be fixed. This might be the worst bug in the game at the moment.

Has anyone considered it could be related to recording replay data to ram then dumping that data to storage?
I mean record replays are saved to for the leaderboards, so the data must be recorded at all times while the rider is riding. Seems this data should only be saved to the cloud or wherever after a run though and have no effect during game play but... is it cleared from ram between each run?
Just trying to think of anywhere that may not have been looked at yet.

Hey! I'm sorry to hear this is also affecting you, we're forwarding everything to our team to help with their investigation.

- Does the stuttering start instantly, or after a while?
- Did you notice if your FPS is also very low, or if your FPS is steady?
- How does your FPS change when V-Sync is enabled?

Hello! I don't have the technical answer for how this works at hand, but I like your thinking and it is certainly worth pursuing.

I'll bring that up with the team so we can make sure that is checked!

I'll add that yesterday I noticed when those 1 second freezes were occurring, the hard drive light would come on, telling me something is being saved at that time to the disk. If I see this not occur in future freezes, I will update this.

Stutters are happening for me too,

And I run an Nvidia RTX 2080 ti GPU with an Intel i9 9900k CPU, 32gb RAM and 100% solid state hard drives.

On top of that it refuses to log in every time I boot up the game, probably 50% of the time. My itnternet is pristine.

Like probably everyone else on PC I'm also experiencing lag spikes.

- Does the stuttering start instantly, or after a while?
- Did you notice if your FPS is also very low, or if your FPS is steady?
- How does your FPS change when V-Sync is enabled?
- Starts instantly but with random intervals.. Sometimes just a few seconds between spikes and sometimes a minute or longer.
- FPS is at a constant 60 fps normally, but drops when the lag spikes occur.
- It lags with VSync enabled or disabled (this setting doesn't seem to fully work though as FPS is still fixed 60 fps with it disabled, I just get an annoying line in the screen because it's not synced)

A couple of times I've seen writes to some save file, or to NVidia shader cache when the lag spikes happen. But not always, so not sure if it's at all related.

Ryzen 3950X, RTX2080, 32GB, 960EVO M.2 SSD, Win10 Pro.

I installed Trials Rising today after not playing it for about a year and wow, it's unplayable now, the stuttering is insane! What happened?? I have the same rig as last year when I finished the game with gold or platinum medals on almost every track and I didn't have any problems back then.

Like everyone else, a terrible lagfest.
4790k, 16GB RAM, installed on SSD, Vega 64.

I noticed that it doesn't up my GPU's clocks properly. The clocks run up and down constantly... So it's not surprising, why it lags horribly...

All the usual stuff. Verifying files, changing settings from game and GPU's control panel, etc.
Otherwise, latest drivers and so on.
Also, no problems on other games and the last time I played it, it was fine.
Now unplayable.

I am still getting stutters after the latest update. Not several second long hangs but up to maybe half a second, and it still happens several times per run. Seems to get a bit more frequent over time but not 100% sure about that. Basically the update hasn't changed anything for me :/
I've tested all possible in game video settings and it never stops. Tested 2 different graphics cards (RTX2080 and GTX1080) and it's the same on both.

Interesting is that I get the same kind of small stutters in Trials Fusion as well, but all other games run fine.

Ryzen 3950X, 32GB, Win10 pro.

I recorded some footage of what's happening here..
There's 2 larger stutters, one at 10.083 on the run timer, and one at 11.716. Slow motion versions of the stutters included if it helps analyze things.

During the stutter the timer doesn't update either, which I guess is expected. But right after the stutter, I kind of expected the counter to jump more than the usual 16/17 ms, except it doesn't. The stutter at 11.716 is 150 ms long, but the timer doesn't jump 150 ms, seems strange? It also seems to drop some frames after the stutters, running at 30 fps for a couple of frames until it's back to 60.

If this helps at all, I've played Trials Evo (Steam) all night without a single stutter so at least it's not happening in all Trials games. But obviously would prefer not having to settle for playing Evo ;)

I see. Do you have another drive you could install it to for testing purposes?

MadMotoMan
06-06-2020, 05:25 PM
It's not the drive. When the freezes were happening they also were accessing the hard drive. Plus this is happening to enough people that I don't think that's the issue.
I'm guessing something is being written when these stutters occur. The game is still playable for the most part for me so I'm not that concerned about it but it's probably something that should eventually be fixed. Oh, also don't think it's the drive because this only happens when I'm online.

BTW - this was not happening on my game before the last update and kinda seems to have replaced the freezes with a little stutter.
Also, (and I can start another topic for this but) my game crashes everytime I quit out of it lately now and I've had several crashes from within the editor but haven't created a topic yet for this until I have a little more info to report with it and eliminate a few possibilities (like creating a new track to work on).
