Okay for those who are lucky enough to have obtained PF, I edited the RN landing mission to include something more appetizing.

Try to land this Corsair Mk I during a storm that should have grounded you ****...try not to get seasick because the motion on that Glorious carrier is quite a thing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

BTW, you'll also learn why the early Corsair had a reputation and why the cockpit was changed.

DISCAIMER, this was just a quick edit, but its educational.

unzip the file in your PF folder and it will create a new type of a/c in your RN single mission option, choose the Corsair of course.

Hogs all the way!

That's difficult, but here's one (ugly) trap illustratd by screenshots.

On the first try the gear broke, second one was perfect, nice mission, very difficult under these conditions. ; )

Do I spot correct RAF markings with the proper colors and everything? Is that default?!? I hope they did that for the other RAF aircraft!

Wow! Is PF going to be not so much who can fight, but who can land?

The Corsairs are different to most a/c in PF as that they come with a big set of skins for both US and FAA versions (even a RNZAF one!), and yes the RN have authentic markings, but helas they are not the new stock markings for RAF and FAA a/c.

But I have to thank the skin makers for their fine work on one of my favorite a/c.

Which leaves me wondering just one thing. WHY THE HELL DID THEY OMMIT A USN/MC birdcage Corsair, while including a Corsair MkI!!

http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/35.gif

Okay I got that out of my system. I hope they'll realize that they can simply rename the bird and have an extra a/c for free in the a/c set. But those with no patience can of course hack the DGen and create their own US Birdcage missions.

God, how I love the Corsair.

Hmmm, neglecting the Wiley Wildcat here...now I'm feeling bad. So next challenge should be landing a FM-2 in similar weather, or perhaps a little darker, on a CVE.

same as above... on the first attempt i broke the undercarriage but survived. mainly because i saw the carrier rather late and picked up a bit too much speed while loosing alt.
second run was much better, landed nicely although bounced a bit http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

very nice mission. i reckon if you can land under those conditions you can land pretty much anything http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I was at one point in contact with Oleg regarding the markings. I hope some effort will be made to correct the rest as time permits. I know they are very busy but I think it would be a small thing for alot of gain.

Thanks for the shots. Well landed. The Corsair looks great!

Landing in a thunderstorm is harsh. And to think, some idiot here was saying it was easy.

Let that idiot try this one. Just for training purposes. Wiley Wildcat getting back home, bad weather and dusk rapidly falling in.

Cats and dogs! (http://www.xs4all.nl/~rhorta/TEMP/USN%20Wildcat%20Storm.zip)

Just unpack in the PF container, again usual disclaimer, nothing fancy, just a stock mission tweaked to pose a challenge for those bored with making regular traps. It is an USN FM-2 mission.

Landing 2b.

I for one still find perfecting a regular trap challenge enough, this FM-2 mission I only managed after 4 touch and goes!

Anyone manage the Wildcat landing in one go?

What I miss in PF is the abbility to switch on the carrier's landing lights (as was "occationally" done in WW2). Or at least have some light signalling device (it shames me, but I cannot recall the proper name) on the carrier.

Another area that might be looked at is that of radio homing beacons etc.

sorry to bring bad news about the markings, but the default skin of one of the FAA Corsairs (can't remember which) with markings 'on' shows the lettering over the top of the fuselage roundles. Don't have time to check now but i think i'm correct.

Ok guys two things.
First, let's hope Aces expands his awesome Il2 MAT to include pacific fighters (if you dont have it, go get it now! it's great!)
and second i'm wondering, for bad weather landings.
Call me stupid if you will. But when you're coming in at a rolling ship like that, should you try and roll yourself level with the deck when you touch down, or just let one wheel hit and force you onto the deck?

All you guys are getting tossed up into the air by the traps or catching the traps while at altitude??? Is that how it is supposed to happen or look?

Since they're doing foul weather traps, i'm sure the decks dropping and pitching all over, so a smooth landing is probably a bit tough.
I bet those are considered "good" landings http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

PF might be a little sympathetic when it comes to hard traps, but I can only advice you to try the Wildcat mission. Everytime I try that one I can almost swear the carrier swerves a little. The cloud layer is at low level and that produces some interesting weather effect on your a/c.
