View Full Version : The IL-10 Campaign - How come I am hearing US Voices on the radio?

12-23-2006, 05:01 PM
I quite like the immersion of Russian only voices in the Russian plane campaigns, but for some reason in the IL-10 Berlin/Khalkin Gol campaign I always get some Yanks cutting in across the Russian RT's telling me how they are diving on a target or engaging something or other. It totally busts the immersion for me.

When I try to find the culprits on the map it always appears to be coming from a bunch of allied planes way off on the edge of the mission map doing their own thing west of Berlin.

OK, so I can believe the US and USSR aerial forces met occasionally in the skies over Berlin, but as far as I know they were on different radio frequencies and would not have heard each other yelling over the intercom in their own language - or am I wrong ?

Anyone know how to turn off certain allied comms in missions. I should probably know how to do this, but am quite the worse for drink and general festivities at the moment!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

yeah I noticed that too, I think it's only your flight though that has the american voices. I suppose they might have thought that the player would find it useful to be able to understand their wingman without having to look at the text.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It's a game limitation.
As in: there's only two sides, and only two radio frequencies.

Looks like the mission builder decided to have some US planes in the mission... hence the US radio being heard...

(I'm just basically repeating what Akronnick said....)

This was something I was surprised to hear too. Normall fly full real, so couldnt find the culprits.

Akronnick is right about only two frequencies. All the enemy traffic on one, all the allied traffic on the other.

To switch off the voices in my head, I went to my conf.thingy and changed NoChatter=0 to NoChatter=1.

Changed it back though. I like to hear a response when I give an order to the flight.

Simple. it was an obvios mistake by the mission builder. Hey it happens. ppl make mistakes. i'll look into it in the morning. I'm sure that it's somethong that can be fixed rather simply by using the text editor on the .mis file for that campain. or in the FMB it's self.
Either way it should be a rather simple fix.

My 1st thought is that the natioanlity/ Country settings were set to USAAF on some elements by mistake. Saloution is to go in to the FMB or .txt files in the campain and fix em.
but it might be helpfull if you posted a copy of the .txt file of the mission. Copy and paste the .MIS file for the mission in question.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

This is just the way it works...all Allied fighters regardless of what nation they belong to will appear on the radio. So if there are other aircraft from another nation flying along you hear them too.

Not much you can do as a mission builder except check off 'radio silence' at every waypoint for the other flights.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Thanks for all the advice http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I will have a rummage around in the mission files with FMB and switch off any US voices I find.

EDIT - OK, sorted it out now. It was two flights of US P47-D27's out to the west of Berlin on a bombing run in most missions. They can be silenced in the FMB by clicking on their waypoints then going to Object/Waypoint and making sure the Radio Silence box is ticked

Cheers! mbv<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
