View Full Version : Kissing my 40s goodbye.....

Bearcat99
08-01-2005, 08:53 PM
Well 50 years ago tomorrow I came into this world.. at 4.1 lbs.... a 7 month premie.... here I stand today .. through the grace of GOD at 6'1" 215 lbs with a beautifull wife, great kids, some really good friends, relative good health, both my parents, a decent job, a hobby I really dig with a pretty good community.. I have met people from all over the world, all ages, walks of life.... and am a very fortunate man. So many people I grew up with arent here anymore...... This is my last night that I will ever be 40 something...... so I figured Id make one of my last acts as a 40 something just saying thanks to all the guys in here that have made the past few years more interesting..... you guys know who you are.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

And for those who would make one of those..."Get a life remarks....(hey you never know... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif)....I have a life.... and this place is just a small part of it.. but a part of it none the less.... http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Happy birthday Bear. Now get off the ****ed computer and go get some exercise so your relative good health wont be a concern at 60.

So what's it like being in your forties? I've been holding at 39 for nearly thirteen years now...

Happy Birthday, Bear. Consider it a great blessing that you can't hear me singing 'Happy Birthday to You' in my inimitable (and thoroughly execrable) style.

cheers

THE PERKS OF BEING 50+

1. Kidnappers are not very interested in you.
2. In a hostage situation you are likely to be released first.
3. No one expects you to run -- anywhere.
4. People call at 9 P.M. & ask, "Did I wake you?"
5. People no longer view you as a hypochondriac.
6. There is nothing left to learn the hard way.
7. Things you buy now won't wear out.
8 You can eat dinner at 4 P.M.
9. You enjoy hearing about other peoples' operations.
10. You get into heated arguments about pension plans.
11. You have a party & the neighbors don't even realize it.
12. You no longer think of speed limits as a challenge.
13. You quit trying to hold your stomach in, no matter who walks into the room
14. You sing along with elevator music.
15. Your eyes won't get much worse.
16. Your investment in health insurance is finally beginning to pay off.
17. Your joints are more accurate meteorologists than the national weather
service.
18. Your secrets are safe with your friends, because they can't remember them
either.
19. Your supply of brain cells is finally down to manageable size.
20. You can't remember who sent you this list.

i do this sim stuff because they didnt have this kinda thing when we were.....younger.

I had to settle for building scale models, many of which i still have, so happy %$#@#$ b-day!

Happy Birthday Bearcat! I'll be joining you myself next month.

Some of the things we have seen:

Pong was the big new video game!
Space Invaders
TRS 80 computers that less powerful CPU's then most cars nowadays.

MTV with music, but they played the same 10 music videos over and over.

And much more!

Cheers! Clink the glasses and savor the moment!

I love this game, too... We took our swim test out there and did some exploring at Shark's Cove. Did open water off Waianae(sp). Wow, I'm missin' it!!! Was stationed at Wheeler back in '78 and '79. Turned 21 over there...
