My dad loves this era. And it wasnt hard to twist his arm into buying a headset, joystick and new video card to play the game. He saw some of my flying and just fell in love with the graphics...

But when I went to ubisoft to buy the game, I became confused. I purchased PF 1st, loved it so much wanting more and bought the IL2+FB Package. I then installed the patches and was in business. There is a gold version of IL2 that includes lock-on+IL2+PF... but it doesn't say anything about including FB and I think u need that to play with the patched version I have.

So what link do I go to to buy IL2+FB+PF? I cant seem to find the link. Please help!

If you want to play online (Which you do, its like single player times 1000) or just want the full merged game, then you need :-

Forgotten Battles
Aces Expansion Pack
Pacific Fighters

plus patches takes you to 4.04m, some servers still run this version.

And if you want to play on the best servers then you also need

Pe 2 Peshka addon (download only) = 4.05m

The best way is to buy 'IL2 Complete Edition' disc which includes the first 3, then buy the Pe2 addon from UBIs download site.

There are many copies of 'Complete Edition' on ebay for low prices.

I dont think the downloadable UBI - Pacific Fighters is mergable, ie its standalone only. You dont need the original IL2 Sturmovik game at all.

Other people may be able to give you links to shops in your area which sell it. Where are you from?

Oh, thank you so much for responding!

Ok, I saw the Ultimate edition here: http://shop.ubi.com/Prod_ExtDesc.asp?catalogid=396&id=16

Which looks like all 4. If I bought and D/Led that for my dad, then I'd need to just buy and D/L the Pe2 to also have all 4 then we'd be able to join/make our own servers?

How does Multiplayer work? Can I make/host a skirmish game that has enemy AI fighters and have my dad join it? I'm assuming I could... Never did multi... Sounds like fun tho.

The price is in pounds looks like. Wonder if they take American Express form San Antonio, Texas.

You want the IL-2 Complete Edition DVD. Better to have a hard copy IMHO. Got mine from here...

IL-2 Complete Edition DVD from Gogamer.com (http://www.gogamer.com/IL-2-Complete-Edition-DVD-Front-Page_stcVVproductId4760175VVcatId444710VVviewprod. htm)

And yes, you and your father should be able to fly together using the in-game multiplayer feature (assuming you have two PCs, home network, two copies of the game, etc. etc).

My daughter and I fly regularly on our home network (well...when I'm not traveling).

Even if you are in different locations and are using dial-up you shouldn't have any problems as long as you know your IP address. For more information check out this thread:

Multiplayer introduction Thread for New Players - Where, When, How! (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/26310365/m/6791022932)

And have your father stop by the forums to check it out (don't forget the Pacific Fighters side of the house).

Welcome and S!

If I D/Led it and wanted to transfer it to another computer hard drive to be able to play it on a better computer, would the D/Led version allow for that? Or do I need to get a hard copy? My dad's processor may need an upgrade and that may just push him into buying a new system...

Also, and this is just ridiculous... If you google for this: IL2 SturmovikÔ"×ó series: Ultimate Edition
you get a list of online stores willing to ship it to you but so far only this one: http://www.ao3.com.au/product.asp?ManufPartNo=814651 has the proper product. The others claim to have the Ultimate esition which inludes Pe2, but the pictures and write ups describe the Complete Edition without the Pe2.

Pisses me off... Ubisoft ought to have some sort of control over who sells their games and how they market them, because these online vendors are mislabelling ubi's product and caused me quite a serious bit of confusion... I could have easily bought the wrong thing.

I think I'm going to go with the D/Led Ultimate version if it turns out I can transfer the game to another computer if my dad's turns out to be too slow. Anyone here know how D/Led versions work?

Also, why does the Ubi-store http://shop.ubi.com/Cat_Browse.asp?id=25&cat=Simulation not have the IL2 SturmovikÔ"×ó series: Ultimate Edition available on hard copy? They have it in D/L version.

Very strange I think.

As people have said BUY THE IL-2 Complete Edition DVD this has FB AEP AND PF on one DVD and is patched up to 4.04M (on the DVD) then buy and download the PE2 add on that takes it to 4.05M if you have that on yours.............

THE DOWNLOAD IS HUGE the requirements it is showing on the page you posted is 1.1GB not MB but GigaByte, and that is just for it, the download will be bigger than that...

plus with the DVD it all installs in one from the DVD... remember you are in essence looking at downloading the sum total of about 5 CDS with all the patches.

Go back up to Crash Moses post, get it there in the US then download PE2 on its own and instal it.

Thanks for the response, Taylortony. So getting the DVD that's patched is way easier, I get that, and it isnt this awesomely enourmous D/L that will take forever.

Couple of questions left...

1.) If you get the Ultimate Edition D/Led version that has IL2+FB+PF+Pe2, can it be reinstalled on a different computer say if you upgrade your system or have a HD crash?

2.) And are there problems with the D/L version from ubi site other than being awesomely huge size wise?

2.) Australia http://www.ao3.com.au/product.asp?ManufPartNo=814651 is the only place I see the Ultimate edition hard copy that includes Pe2. Someone sell that in the States? I wonder if it is on DVD and patched to 4.05M...

Thanks for all the responses so far, guys. Very helpful. I'm getting a clearer picture of where this game is offered, how, and the pros and cons of each. Almost there...

yes I believe it can be reinstalled on a different PC but that will intail a redownload unless you have backed it up elsewhere, as to transferring pcs that is fraught with another large transfer etc..

The dvd is pop in and go. PE2 will possibly be released later on a dvd come CD with all the other upgrades when finally released.

next i would check with the link you posted, as most places advertising the "ultimate addition" such as
http://www.digitalhome.com.au/Gaming/PC_CD-ROM/Simulati...e_Edition_(DVD)/8775 (http://www.digitalhome.com.au/Gaming/PC_CD-ROM/Simulation/Ubisof/IL_2_Sturmovik_Ultimate_Edition_(DVD)/8775)

http://www.gpstore.co.nz/Games/1513968.html

is the complete addition without PE2 so it may be a typing error on their site

I would definitely go with the Complete DVD, it is patched to 4.04m and has plenty enough to keep you and dad captivated for quite a while. I'd hold off on the Pe-2 for now, it's not really needed, esp. for new starters. And as mentioned (or not) the d/l is fraught with, well let's say, inconveniencies. The Pe-2 add on (which is really 4.05m) and the next 2 add-ons, 4.06m and 4.07m add-ons will require Pe-2, but it looks possible all 3 (or at least the first 2) may become available as a hardcopy. Much desireable. I suggest getting into the 4.04m fully for now, as a learning curve type thing. And there are still quite a few servers online for that version if needed, via Hyperlobby.
