Hi all,

Maybe I'm the first to post re the display at Duxford, Cambridgeshire, England. I've been there a few times over the years and it has a great atmosphere http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

It was a 1940 Battle of Britain airfield. Douglas Bader commanded 242 Squadron and others from here.

It was later the home of many US units who flew from here and are honoured by a specific hangar containing a HUGE amount of US aircraft.

My photography skills are not the best but I managed to capture a Spitfire just before touchdown. The sound of a Merlin even though throttled back was amazing http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Here's a pic of a few of the hangars early on in the day.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/MB_Avro/Dux3.jpg

Here's a pic of the Spitfire landing. Caught it at the last moment but in the circumstances was the best that I could do http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/MB_Avro/Copyof2007-07-07005.jpg

I'll post more later.

Best Regards,
MB_Avro.

Keep 'em coming!
Was there 2004 and realized that any car sports is stupid, lotsa sound around and fuel burning but none getting airborne.
The fondest memory from there was if I only could carry that sound to home, no video camera did that http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I was there today - in the display pilots' enclosure, with a grandstand view of the display plus all Spits and the 2 Hurris taxied in and lined up in font of us afterwards. Wonderful.

Why was I there? I'm in the band that played at the evening do for the pilots, ground crews, and their spouses. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

I bet BlairGowrie was in Spit heaven. He and a few of our squadm8s from this side of the pond flew over for a get together with other members of the DD's and took in this air show while they were at it. I am sure he will have plenty of pics also. They are flying back over today. Lucky buggers.

You may have just missed a great picture in that blurred spit. If only you`d caught the prop that could`ve been a classic pick.

Seriously guys...it's not a real pic that last one...do you really think it is?

Taylor, I totally agree, light is wrong, looks like an IL2 screenie cut and pasted onto blue sky. I mean the light is shining upwards on the rear of the tale and the sun is shining from the 11 o'clock position as you look at the frame!

and Ploughman has nailed the fact that the leaves are missing from the Hangars trees!

Geez! looking forward to a real post on the event!

If I was writing a School Report it would read "Could do better!"

At the risk of appearing the saddest poster ever to infect this august forum, I can confidently inform you all that it's a Corgi 1/32nd scale die-cast model. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

Right Low Flyer, it has the Corgi Spitfire flub. It doesn't have the Spitfire's classic identifying feature---the concave curve at the join of wing and fuselage on each side---on the Corgi it's flat, completely inaccurate. EXPOSED. Nice work.

Hi all,

Here are a couple of more pics. I am deeply saddened that doubt has been cast upon the veracity of my contribution. The camera NEVER lies.

That is a great collection Low_Flyer http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

If anyone is interested I would like to add that I used 'wet film'. In my experience it is far superior to digital.Digital has its place but not ever in my camera.

Here's another example.

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v82/MB_Avro/hur4-1.jpg

After this snapshot things became a bit dicey..

Thanks for viewing and I'm sure that I was virtually at Duxford again http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif....

Best Regards,

Hey Leitmotiv,

That pic is of a model plane. There is no room here for people like you who post fake images.

You'll go blind reading the Sun Leit, best to settle down with a nice bottle of Badger's Arse and a copy of "Das Ingurlunder!" then you'll dream elliptical dreams which are well rounded and righteous. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

More of a 'Sport' man myself http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/halo.gif...although tempted by the Mail's free 'World At war' DVD collection...will probably call in a favour with my local newsagent.
