Thanks for the heads up http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well if that's caused by a neighbour deliberately putting up an obstruction (poles) at the end of the runway as was done last year according to locals, someone needs to pay him a visit http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Never underestimate the stupidity of the human race.

I hope that this guy gets fried by the Canadians, and then I hope Mr. Russell sues him for every penny he has.

Then sues him again.

Did you check out the links? Someone installed poles in the ground at the end of the runway illegally. KG26_Alpha even stated it in his post with the picture in it.

Wow that was a close one for both pilot and plane. Lets hope the damage is as superficial as it appears.

I'm not seeing where the pole was deliberately placed to damage the aircraft, can someone elaborate please?

I wonder if the guns on that 109 still work?

A little strafing pass might be in order.

Not a good spot for damage though it could be worse. It is right where the slats fixtures attach to the aircraft. Not a good spot if there are any good spots to damage on a restored 109.. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Not making any excuses for the sheer stupidity of what the person did who put up the pole, but if this has happened before, why didn't someone check out the runway before flying?

Two things I can think of, either they're making some misplaced Anti-Nazi statement or they're fed up with the noise from the airplanes next door. Either way, taking matters into your own hands is a dodgy thing to do.

Sounds like another of those types who buys a property priced at below market because it's close to an airfield, and then starts b!tching about the noise and potential danger.

Their first cousins can be found buying homes bordering golf course fairways and then raising hell because of all the golf balls landing in their yards...

cheers

Word is that Transport Canada (government ministry) will be launching a formal investigation of the issue and that the provincial police are probably involved as well. Lots of rumours going around at the airfield today...a horrible thing to do and its a small (or perhaps large) miracle that there wasn't further or catastrophic damage.

Lots of people angry over this one.

Some people make a business of it, buying large blocks of apartments near things like amusement parks, speedways and so forth then using influence on local council to close them down instantly doubling their property values.

"Russell Aviation Group which has an airfield on Sodom Road."

Sodom Road?? They actually named a rode "Sodom"? Geez.

Hope they fix this bird and make the "neighbor" pay for it.

There are lots of weirdly named roads up here in Soviet Canuckistan.

Friends of mine have a cottage on "Savage Settlement Road"

In my city there is a street called "Hymen Street"

Anyways.

This is the first I've heard about the 109 but it's a terrible shame. I hope Niagara region are up to the task.
