Well you have the Wfr Gr 21 210mm rocket set up that was used on some G6's (although I am not 100% sure if this was for pulk-zerstorer duties or ground attack, and to what extent it was used, if at all, in combat).

Another interesting experiment was carried out (at least one) F-2 airframe.

This fitted streamlined pods of 4x Rhinemetall Borsig RZ 65 (73mm air to air rockets), one on each wing to the plane. I assume this did not progress beyond the test stage, but don't have much info. I would be most interested to hear from anyone who knows more about this set up.

"As weaponry, both were good, but in far different ways from each other. In a nutshell, I describe it this way: if the FW 190 was a sabre, the 109 was a florett, or foil, like that used in the precision art of fencing." - Gunther Rall

They used rockets in G-5 and G-6 types and definitly against bombers. Heinz Knocke tells a lot of using them in his book DER GROSSE JAGD ( = the great hunt, but translated "I flew for f├╝hrer" )

im sure quite a few G-6's used the Wfr Gr. rockets for destryoing bombers. but i don't think the option is available in FB - we can only get 190's with these rockets on IIRC.

Being looking around a bit more. The Wfr Gr. 21 rockets seem to be associated with the G6, under the R2 designation (confusing as this also applies to a fighter bomber version fitted with MW50).

I guess they must have been used mainly in the West against the daylight bomber formations. Possibly why they are not in IL-2/FB, which is concerned with the East.

Once we get that B-17 though............ /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-tongue.gif
