OK, I have never posted here before so go easy on me fellas..

I have played FB quite a bit but not what you would consider a huge amount. My question is this nice and simple one below..!

Which 3 planes make for the best dogfighting experience all round..? What I mean by that is, best turn rate, climb rate. best guns/cannon, best dive ability etc etc..you get the picture..! I see many types of planes people fly online and I have of course my favs, but not sure if I am using the right one online..! If you can give me some sound advice..Tia..!

Alot depends on complexity...the FW is stall prone so if you are looking at total effectivess vs something that is great and easy to fly, I might recommend instead:

Ibhskier37, it depends on the year /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif .

FW-190A4 in '42
FW-190A-5 in '43
FW-190A-9 in '44
Soon to be Ta-152H in '45.

But that is my preference.

It really does depend on the year though. If you take every plane in the game into account the late planes will almost always be chosen.

It's hard to beat a plane like the Ki-84 for all-around goodness. Non-year dependent and excluding jets I would say in no particular order:

1. Ki-84
2. La-7
3. Any late 109.

P-51 is also very capable and close to any of these.

What plane is the best fighter, fighter/bomber, bomber interceptor?

FW-190 in any year IMO.

But it takes alot of practice and discipline to fly it effectively and it doesn't shine in turn or climb either. The P-47 is very similar in this way, with the 190 being superior at low/medium altitudes and the Thunderbolt being superior up high.

My advice is to fly what you like though. That is always the best "choice."

Almost all online fights end up being low level turn fights, because there's simply no reason to be up high.

The planes that experience the most success, team tactics not factored in, are:

LA-7 (many consider this THE uber plane... near-best turn rate, great speed/climb/dive, good weapons)

Yak-3 or 9 (not 9u/t etc) Best turn rate in the game hands down. If you get down and dirty with an enemy fighter (that isn't also a yak3/9) in this plane, and he tries to turn fight you, you'll probably win. Only weaknesses are not much ammo and not the fastest plane.

The p39 is a great fighter that can stand up to the likes of LA-7s and Yaks, but it takes a bit more finesse to use the big cannon and turn the thing around without stalling/going into a spin. Its also slightly worse at turning than the yak and just slightly slower, so its hard to beat a good yak pilot 1 on 1 in it (unless you get the drop on them).

FW190s 109s p51s p47s are good boom and zoomers, they take a little more patience though, IMO.

Ki84s and A6Ms seem just so-so to me, despite what others say... I eat them for lunch in my p39... They fall apart easily and their wings make big targets.

I'll probably be called crazy...but here's my top 3 prefs:

1) P-51D
2) P-47D-27
3) FW190D-9 1945

Not my personal preference, but from an objective viewpoint, the Yak-3 is best, or at least the easiest to fly and score in of the best.
