Nearly a week after I put TIR in service its doing what it should. I should have asked for help right away. Here are my worst mistakes. Do not repeat them.
Get the latest software. Or else when people try to give you advice you will be LOST and Clueless.
Mount the darn thing. If its moving around or out of reach, you will not get the same results. I used doublesided 3M tape. Just a couple of tiny bits attached it to the front bottom of my monitor.
Be patient. Dont expect to do this in 10 minutes but with some help and advice you can be done in an hour.

Most of all Beleive in Track IR. I was a fool when I had doubts. The TIR made my experience unbeleivably real. QMB scores are doubled in less than one day of using TIR right.
Thanks to all who helped me. Recon, Hunter and the rest of the crew who cared enough to help out.

I'm glad everyone managed to talk you into giving it another go Maico.
The best thing since the invention of the joystick but both useless without FB/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

OK, So track IR tracks your head movements.... If you turn your head around to see the guy on your 6, how do you see the screen?

both useless without FB? To you maybe, but not to me.

TrackIR without enhanced mode (in IL2 and other mouselook capable sims) was already great. And it continues to be like that. Enhanced mode is the most convenient mode though. Offers more possibilities and is smoother allround.

But don't think that trackIR can't work properly without enhanced mode coz it works very fine in mousemode as well.

All those who think trackIR isn't or hasn't been worth it are missing out bigtime simply because they failed to properly set it up. Just so you know, the trackIR can be setup properly in enhanced mode as well as mouse mode.

Ask around on the Naturalpoint forums for profiles or advice, there's lots of people having one now who can share their experience.

I know the feeling! Happens to me with every upgrade in hardware, joystick, pedal's, TrackIR etc. The feeling of going from despair to a "YESSSSS!/i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif
To me that is what forums like this is al about. Discussing and helping equals with hardware and sim related topics. Sad thou that we often loose focus and end in a flaming war.

Also, you can avoid turning your head at all! Just lean a little left or right to turn your virtual head. You'll still have to look up or down a bit, tho

Wow. What a change from `I hate TIR so much everything associated with it must die` to `I want to marry it and have its kids!`. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Thanx for the warning advice. I`ll have to give it a try out...

Thats how I do it in IL2 with mouse emulation instead of enhanced like in FB.

It sure does rock!

Learning curve can be steep, but there are enough experts here (and at naturalpoint forums) to get those with some patience up and running.

Have to admit I'm still trying to use mine with the 'no pit' view and not doing too well!

I need the cockpit on to give me a reference! /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Maico,

Ain't it a joy doing BnZ technique with Track IR?

(I know it's a lil off topic) but I was flying MSFS 2004.
I was in virtual cockpit mode and opened the door of my Cessna 172. Looked out over the edge of the door sill usung Track IR..... WOW... I actually got a quick feeling of vertigo.

Great news there Maico!

After awhile, save up and try the TrackIr hat http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif LOL

I'm a real junkie now, I had to have it - it works pretty well, the reflective surfaces are built into the hat - so, not as geeky looking http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
