So what's the over/under that the new Nvidia driver will make things worse for playing Division 2?

well, reading the patch notes it seems, its gonna improve TD2 big time. im gonna try this now

They always claim that it will make things better, but it seemed every other driver actually causes the game to run worse or just CTD continuously.

there no dx12 fix in this driver

oh and enabling ultra low latency seem to ctd on dx11 too

i just played 2 full runs on the arena with the new thingy...got around 120 fps constantly, no crash nothing. i play on max all settings 1080p.

Would you mind sharing your system specs? Or at least what graphics card you're using?

Is it me, or are the English (US) and English (UK) driver download links for 436.02 broken (404 error)?

[edit] this is why: https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2019/08/new-nvidia-driver-update-cuts-latency-down-to-the-bone/

Nvidia has temporarily taken the standalone version of the 436.02 update down. Users began complaining that the latest driver update would automatically install the associated GeForce Experience app, even when users elected not to install it in the installation process

Yeah the standalone will not download. Is nvidia going to fix this ?

They'll probably issue a hotfix version. Anyhow, it seems this looks like a renaming of an existing option:

Loaded it and tried DX12 and same old crap. The game froze and crashed. Back to DX11. Wish they would fix the DX12 already for D2

I use DX12 all day and don't have any crashes. I'll let you know if that changes with the new drivers.

Asus ROG Strix B450-i
Ryzen 3600
MSI GTX1070 GamerX 8GB
HyperX 32GB 3200 RGB DDR4
addlink 2TB NVME M.2

I have no idea why the implementation of DX12 is so hit or miss in this game. And looking at the driver documentation DX12 is still listed as a problem that could cause crashes. But at this point I think it's more to do with the game than the card since people using both Nvidia and AMD cards.

I wish that they could fix this.

Intel Core i9 9900K 8x 3.60GHz So.1151 WOF @4.7 GHz,
NVidia GTX 1080Ti Strix
G.Skill DIMM 32 GB DDR4-3200
1000GB Samsung 970 Evo Plus M.2 2280 PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe 1.3 3D-NAND TLC (MZ-V7S1T0BW)

and all that on a
Asus ROG Maximus XI Hero Intel Z390

i had all the crashes 3 drivers ago...
but now it happens once a week maybe, but i think that has more to do with desync from the server that crashes the game

I use Asus laptop GL502vsk, i7 7700hq and gtx1070. with external monitor / keyboard. and played 750 hours with dx12 and mayby had only 2 craches.

The fact that some people can play the game under DX12 just fine and others, like myself, can get the game to play for more than a few minutes without a CTD lead me to believe that the DX12 issue isn't a driver issue, but a game issue. This is one issue I'd love to see them get fixed.

It's not just Division 2 that has dx12 crash problems. Many steam games have dx12 craches when overlay is enabled. and several EA games with dx12 have the same problem (BF 5). and Metro exodus.
it looks like dx12 itself is unstable

the thing with dx12 is, it uses way more cpu then dx11.
my 7700k was 100% at all times in td2
my 9900k with 16 threads is now able to have it at like 40% max at all times.

i think many would benefit from tweaking their graphical settings.
try minium and have an eyesore, but test it if it is suddenly stable with all low settings.
when thats the case, go up a bit try a full day and so on, until you find the thing that crashes your system.

my gf had a serious issue with crashing because her ATI Card was set to 0% power gauge. (there is a -50 to +50% setting in wattman). now we set it at +50% and it takes 250 watts and runs much more stable.

then we had an issue where the OC of the CPU was not stable...super stable in windows and superposition and other benchmarks, but games would just crash randomly.
also the XMP of the RAM an be an issue. try resetting (or if available BIOS Update) your BIOS (UEFI) and run the game with BASIC/Standard settings.

many here will see that it suddenly will work without crashing.

BUT BIG WARNING

if you are unsure what you are even doing or what TF i am talking about.
ask a friend or relative to help you. dont kill your system because of false confidence or deadly half knowledge (i am a trained system adminstrator, so i know what im doing)

DX12 is just an API. The video driver and game handle the implementation. I did not have any issues running Shadow of the Tomb Raider in DX12 mode with the steam overlay, but TD2 crashes.

The driver latency tweak only applies to DX11.

Indeed i just ran a benchmark and still same as allways 88% GPU load on DX12.
there some easy steps if you google it trying to get DX12 to work.(prob wont work for all)

Worked for me on a old rig:
5th gen intel 4,4 ghz, 2166 gskill 16GB, 1060 6GB, 3x SSD.

Off topic, but with those specs you need a 1440p monitor. It'll change your life. :p

It's a combination of factors. The way DX12 is implemented, there are more variables.
https://forums.ubi.com/showthread.php/2110356-Why-does-this-game-becomes-a-Demo-when-you-use-DirectX-12?p=14462334&viewfull=1#post14462334

Game A may work fine with a certain combo 1 while game B doesn't but then game A may not work with combo 2 while game B works fine.

Okay, so I was looking to upgrade my computer anyway, and I did just that a few weeks ago.

My old computer:
Intel Core i5-4670K
Asus Z97 Motherboard
16GB DDR3 RAM
GTX1060 6GB GPU

I had DX12 crashes with in minutes, guaranteed.

My new computer:
AMD R5-3600
Gigabyte X570 Motherboard
16GB DDR4 RAM
GTX1060 6GB GPU

DX12 still crashes within minutes. Using the "fix" listed above It would just stutter and freeze but it wouldn't actually crash.

This was with my graphics card set with stock settings and with it slightly overclocked. The old i5 was definitely overclocked (but stable), the new R5 is not overclocked at all.

DX12 does work with other game and even with DX12 benchmarking software. The problem is THIS game. Whatever they've done it's just not working.

On top of all of that, THIS game is called out specifically as having issues with DX12 in the Driver Documentation on page 14.
http://us.download.nvidia.com/Windows/436.02/436.02-win10-win8-win7-release-notes.pdf

So there's something going on with the way TD2 implements DX12 and for some reason it doesn't seem to be able to be fixed.
