Just wondering... is the 4.09mBeta patch considered a MOD or is it a "regular" IL2 patch that isn't finished? Also, is it worth overwriting the aircraft skins that go along with the 4.09mbeta patch?

Thanks

Certainly not a mod and maybe some day it will go gold. I would install the skins if I were you.

Thanks, I knew that the 4.09 patch has been around for a while, but I was never sure if it were a MOD or not.

Thanks on the advice of the skins too.

4.09 is a official beta patch from 1C. But the 4.09 dedicated server patch is a mod. Which is kind of funny, because I have been seeing 4.09 dedicated servers in HL requesting no mod use.

very useful.

It's a version 4.08 - 4.09 switcher, so you can check out v4.09b without fear.
If you don't like it, go back to v4.08.

You don't understand the history of this patch. It was put together when Maddox team had already started on the Storm of War project, and the beta was hurried out of the back door. While it is a superb patch from several angles, and introduced a new standard in scenery amongst other things, it is also fair to say that mainstream official development ended with 4.08m. Either is great to fly. But a line had to be drawn somewhere on the development so that the new project could gain momentum.

Also, there were certain developments on the 'unofficial' side of the game that coincided with the beta release which may have changed certain attitudes - but these points are all history. Enjoy what you have is my advice. It's the best there is.
