View Full Version : Icon Settings

To All,

I have searched these forums for the following questions, but the related topics I have found have left me confused.

Basically I am hoping to change the game's default icon settings to something I prefer, but am unsure if this can be done on a permanent basis or not.

I would like both Friendly and Foe aircraft to have a neutral color (grey I think might be the default) and only the plane type FW190 / P-47 etc) to be viewable at 300 meters.

The mp_dotrange command seems the way to go, but from my understanding I would have to type it in each time I play the game, and possibly after every sortie?

I have seen some posts referencing the change of an RCU file but will this make it permanent?

I am sure this has been answered many times before but any assistance I can get would be appreciated.

Thank you.

Create a file in your game folder, using notepad, name it like you want (I use "il2stab.rcu")

Define your icon settings in that file.
And add the following line at the bottom:
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">timeout 60000 file il2stab.rcu</pre>

(This means this file and its commands will be loaded and executed each and every 1 minute while the game is running.)

Next, add this line to your RCU file:
<pre class="ip-ubbcode-code-pre">@file il2stab.rcu</pre>

Not sure it's the best way... but it works...

If I might ask, what are the specifics I should use for the mp_dotrange command if I want all sides to have the same color and only plane type viewable at say 300 meters?

Would it be?
mp_dotrange DOT 20 RANGE 0.005 COLOR 0.005 TYPE 0.3 NAME 0.005 ID 0.005

I think I can create the notepad file you mentioned and once done, change the ".txt" to ".rcu"

As for last part of the instructions, do I edit the RCU file in Notepad / Wordpad and add that line at the bottom?

That's right I think...the maximum for DOT is 25.000 though, if you'd like to get the highest distance. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
