After three patches nobody has yet bothered to fix some trivial spelling mistakes.

Come on Ubi, all you have to do is remind your localization people to run spellcheck. Compared to complicated things like Bf 109 rudders, this is pretty easy. Go for the easy kill! Win some points with your customers and fix a simple bug or two!

i thought BEED was just the present tense of "be"

Hence future tense is "be" -- "To be or not to be"
Past tense is "bin" -- "bin there doned that"
Present tense is "beed" -- " I beed destroyed "

Are you sure whoever wrote it didn't actually try to say "been" but had a severe cold case? With a stuffed nose, "been" sounds like "beed".

IMHO it is good that an ever alert community can direct developers attention to something as blatantly crucially showstopping as this.

I myself have uninstalled FB and will refuse to play the game until this is FIXED !!

I shelled out the equiv of $40 and I DEMAND a bugfree product where german planes win all the time!

(just kiddin' if you are wondering)

Canadians can spell pretty good. They keep adding extra U's, but at least they're consistent about it. http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

has anyone noticed if the "successfull" or "unsuable" errors have been fixed? i remember when you join a game a game it said "connection successfull" and when you lose controls it would say "playerX renders playerY's controls unsuable". have these or are these going to be fixed?

Technically speaking its not really a spelling error at all.

More correctly we are looking at a general family of grammatical errors that invovle a misapplication of a general syntaxical rule to a specific application where there is an exception.

In this case the general rule in English is that past tense is signified by adding the suffix "ed" to the verb in question. hence "die" and "died", "walk" and "walked".

Examples of misapplying this general rule to specific instances were there are unique examples include:

He runned down to the shop.
He shooted me with .50 cal.
I sleeped at me mum's last night.

Bet you never wanted to know that http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_smile.gif)))

PUH-LEE-SE!!!!!

I think the pivotal word here is 'trivial'.

I didn't buy this sim with any thought of how terrible it would be if there were spelling errors.

I'm more concerned that 'bugs' get fixed. The h*ll with spelling errors!

Are you going to correct Olegs spelling everytime he posts now?

just askin...

Oleg doesn't have a localization staff to proof everything he writes online.

Ubi, however, has such a staff. If they want to produce a quality product they'll have to ensure the l10n is correct. It's sloppy as heck and it makes them look bad. I'm suggesting Ubi finally get off their asses and clean up the spelling errors because it's EASY for them. They need a way to save face after the 1.1f patch fiasco.

This thread is funny because we've been flying in "Sammer" since IL2 on the DF #5 map, lol.

And who could deny they don't chuckle everytime they see...

"XXXXX has been blown with a tank's main gun."

Yes, we can all modify our own mission properties and the netmessages.properties files with a simple notepad fix, but then if we did that, we wouldn't have this thread.

Oh wait, that might be a good thing...../i/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

BTW, is there anyway to change the way the game selects messages to use online besides enabling "HighGore"?

I see tons in the netmessages.properties file, but rarely see anything but the usual online messages. Is it just random and picks one of the three? I kind of think it does, because I purposely changed the "cheating" messages with unique ids to see if they were successive by their numbers or just random messages when it's time for the host server to send one.

The first message to appear was actually number three on the list and didn't follow any order on more occurences. So, I guess it is random.

Anybody?
