View Full Version : Where's a good area to Hunt?

10-20-2006, 12:14 PM
Fellow Kaleuns, can I get some suggestions as to where some good hunting areas are? When ever I have completed the primary objective (patrol for 24 hours), normally I have some torpedoes left over, and don't want to go straight back to base. Normally, I hangout in the straits by Spapa Flow. Sometimes it pays off, sometimes I can't find anything.
(I've also learned the hard way, not to mess with Task Forces.)<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

BF17, AM 42 and squares surrounding those are good throughout the war, but sio close to Britain get increasingly dangerous, in particular the squares East of the two mentioned.
And in general, check your foldout map that came with the box and look for places where different routs are converging, like just West of Gibraltar (CG78, I think).<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I agree with Bootsmann, I like the whole West Coast of Spain. All the up and down, 3 patrol grids wide.

It's mainly single ships, but mostly big ones. C2's, C3's, Tankers, from 8,000 - 20,000 tons. It's like Marlin Fishing along there. http://foolstown.com/sm/hook1.gif <div class="ev_tpc_signature">

It's a long travel, but the Azoren Islands is a nice place for larger single vessels. They have no escorts.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I had a really nice hunt in Scapa Flow. Very dangerous though. Worked well with GW. I snuck in through the east side. Sank a Troop transport, C Class destroyer and a medium tanker in port. Also a Flower Corvette coming from behind my location, got her too. As I started to leave Scapa Flow, I figured I would check the west side of the bay. There I found an Illustrious Carrier. Took four torpedoes to sink her, but she finally went down.

Good hunting!!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

those Illustrious Carriers in scapa flow are very juicy targets. usually dose take 4 to 6 torpedo`s to send one to the bottom of scapa flow when their at anchor. I found a T2 Tanker about 5 miles west of scapa flow just sitting in the middle of the ocean not moving and that was just too tempting a target to no put a couple torpedo`s in her<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
