On a related note:

The front of the box clearly says: PC-DVD

On the back of the box, where it lists the hardware requirements, it said "4xCD-ROM or better."

Clearly, Ubisoft copied over the technical requirements for the original game without changing to the DVD requirement. I assume you can't play "1946" without a DVD player.

=======

And another thing ...

I wish all games would put their instruction books on PDF files and quit printing manuels altogether.

A waste of resources, IMO.

The game (at least my IL2 complete edition) comes with just a keyboard/mouse/joystick reference card. It surely helps with those multiple keys and functions!

The reference cards are also on the DVD as PDF files - nothing printed is included with the DVD.

Page 2 of the PDF manual on the DVD clearly states "Installing Pacific Fighters (TM)".

At least the aircraft guide on disc 2 seems less than a complete waste of time.

Manuals aren't a waste of time.

You can't read a PDF when you're in the head. PDFs hurt your eyes and will never love you.

The Falcon 4 manual also offers superior ballistic protection up to 40cm RHA against kinetic projectiles.

Ahhh, the Falcon 4 manual, what memories...

I learnt everything I needed to from that manual. EVERYTHING!

Even space shuttle pilots would learn stuff they never got from NASA within those pages.

Clearly, you don't own a laptop. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

That little reference "card" is so tiny http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif I have a hard time reading it.

Yes, but rumor has it that William the Conquerer mislaid it somewhere, so you guys are on your own.
