In an IL-2, trying to sneak up on enemy base - flying very low - sometimes my rear gunner will get the attention of a scout that may not have seen me otherwise /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

Have you tried switching off the autopilot automation, switching to the gunner seat, turning off the gunner autopilot, the jumping back in the pilot seat?

I wish I would have thought of that! I haven't played a two seater (like IL-2 or Stuka in FB), but it would be nice to have the gunner save some ammo when the bogies are actually in range to do damage. Thanks for the suggestion!

I don't think you can sneak by the AI pilots. They are all Big Brothers... following you everywhere.. in the night.. inside clouds..

Thanks for the reply,,,

I have switched to the gunner seat but have not stayed in it long for fear of crashing while away from the pilot seat.

As for autopilot automation I guess I need to look through all the setings again Must have missed it

Thanks again

map a key for level flight, it should be in the first section of controls. I've done ctrl A. This will fly the plane straight and level. Now you can hop in the back and fix yourself a coctail!

May fire at ground targets when you didn't want him to, though.

Yes, but he'll ignore you, and your family will think you're spending too much time on the PC. /i/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Last night, playing online, I tried turning off autopilot automation and I used the auto level feature --- Great features --- Thanks guys.

I have gotten good at getting to and destroying the enemy airfield. Getting home is a totally different story!

Now if I had a button that would cause my teammates to escort me back to home base

just say "help" over chat, or "mayday" or so.
some people will surely head to you and try to help.
at least ill do if im in a reasonable range (seeing the tracers flying towards you http://ubbxforums.ubi.com/infopop/emoticons/icon_wink.gif)
i probably wont shoot the enemy down, but ill get their attention because im a greater threat (reffering to my plane, not to my skills)
