I see in the readme version 84.21

Current version is like 93.71

Is the readme uptodate and 84.21 is the best driver or should I be running the latest from NVidia?

Thanks!<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Il2 is actually an old, new drivers seem to have issues with IL2. I'm running the 91.47 driver, but I get the black arc on the water with water=3 or 4. That doesn't really bother me because my rig does not give me sufficient frame rates to really use water=3 or 4. The 84.21 is generally regarded as the last driver to run IL2 nicely without the black arc issue. The newest drivers have eliminated the black arc, but some people are experiencing other graphics issues with the newest drivers.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I just rolled back to 93.71 from newer asus tweaked version It seems at the moment on my machine to be the only stable driver for my il2 and wifes sims 2 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif.

I was also getting graphics lockups on startup with newer drivers something that rolling back seems to have sorted (I hope) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Forceware 96.89 appears to run fine for me with the black arc gone from the water 3, 4 setting and very little stuttering - although going from 1Gb to 2 Gb may have reduced stutter a lot as well probably.

I always found the Z-Tweaked drivers available on www.guru3d.com (http://www.guru3d.com) to be very good performers, far better than the original driver on which they were based, but fixes in later drivers for other games forced me to move on to 96.89 which hasn't yet been Z-Tweaked!

The trouble with running the old recommended driver 84.21 is that you will have big issues with other games that demand a newer 9x.xx series driver. BF2 and BF2142 are ones that spring to mind and stuff such as Oblivion, etc.

If you have none of these and il2 is your only main game then stick with the 8x.xx drivers, or try the last Z-Tweaked driver which was Z-Tweaked_v9128, I think.

No problems and good performance with Forceware 87.25 on 7900GT.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I almost had an upgrade to a 9800 PRO recently, but it failed. I'm currently still on a Ti 4200 8X 128MB running Detonator 66.93s. Do you think I would gain any benefit from updating to Forceware 8x or 9x series?

I'm usually one to leave well enough alone and my current drivers were the PF-recommended ones back a ways, but I had an OpenGL error a few nights ago playing V4.04m. I'm guessing newer drivers don't really add anything for older series of cards, just keep supporting them, but I thought I'd ask.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

96.89 gets rid of the black arc problem, and its NOT a modified driver.

I never had any issues with the Z-Tweaked drivers, they were always better than their base driver and tweaked for performance gains and when it comes to il2 stuff I generally need all I can get. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Looks like many of the community.
Just go looking for the latest drivers.

Without actually looking at what cards they were made for!

The latest drivers are for the 8800 cards.

I'm running the 96.89s and they are listed for the 7800GTXs I have.

All is sweet with NO Black arcor stutters.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Although I'm an ATI user, I felt the same way about upgrading drivers. I have a 9800XT that ran fine on the the original driver I had installed. However I've kept updating my drivers with just about each new CAT release and am pleased with the results. I recently updated to the 6.12 driver and what a difference in both IQ and framerate!

I know ATI and nVida are apples and oranges but it wouldn't hurt to try newer drivers. Being as they are easy enough to install/uninstall what have you got to lose? If you don't like the new drivers or are not satisfied just reinstall your current driver.

Just a thought.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">
