On my first one I wasn't very lucky. Could sunk only 3 merchant ships with litle cargo tonnage. We were in Atlantic ocean and weather was bad.

My crew said:
"We could make more damage if you wasn't so green! You shot all torpedos before we came in right grid"

- "You could use a deck gun"

They sreamed at me: "ARE YOU CRAZY? IN WEATHER LIKE THAT?"

Well, it is 10/30/1939, my second patrol. I hope I will be more lucky on this one.

Like in last patrol I leaved Kiel and went to the grid AN41. On my way to the poin I runned into no one, exept of neutral ships, pfff what a lucky me. My mother always told not to go to army. In november 5th, I finally reached a destination. Hum, my final destination? Were was nothing, exept of a small fishing boat, what a chance!

- "Crew! Get on Deck Gun!"
"We can't it is to stormy out there."
- "What? The wind is only 7 meters per hour"
"Screw you! If you want, go and do it your self!"

What a loosers...
Maybe my fault? I let them do to much. They don't belive in me.

After all, I commanded them to get on 50 meter depht, and run hydrophone. But no! The sonar man also didn't his work. What a conspiraty!

Well, nothing for 39 hours.

It is time to go home, but I always was wondering what is on the islands, better say in Scapa Flow? So not long thinking i commanded my crew to set a cours there.

At 19:22 Watchman called me:
"I see a destroyer, what should we do?"

-"Perescope depht! All, get ready! Give me information!"
"It is V&W Destroyer, sir."

http://users.skynet.be/fb200747/img/sh3/VWdestr.JPG

Hum, he called me a "sir". Well, lucky some one likes me on the board. But I have not much time to think, fast to the TDC.

- "Torpedo 1, Fire!"

This time I can't afford a mis, I need have a hit! Hold my breath....

http://users.skynet.be/fb200747/img/sh3/torpedo.JPG

! ! ! BOOM ! ! !

I heared some of my crew:
"Yes! We did It! Congratilations capt."

Allright, allright, go to the hit point and look for survivers. That was a bad idea. Before a hit, some one of Destroyer called for a help, and before i was able to get at hit point I was descovered by 2 J Class Destroyers.

http://users.skynet.be/fb200747/img/sh3/classJ.JPG

- "To the 50 meter! Run silent!"

Before we were able reach 50 meter mark, sonar men screamed:

"Depht charges! Hold strong!" I heared no one talking, they probably think it is my fault getting them to here. And now I must !!! BOOM !!! holly ****! !!! BOOM !!!

"Sir, we are taking damage!" !!! BOOM !!!

- "90? to the left! Fast! Damage Control Team! Get on work! What are you looking at me? You too!"
"We need go on surface, to make a rapair work"

After a few charges behind me we went slowly and stealth to the East, 2 km away. It was so sillent on board, that I could hear motors of the destroyers without hydraphone.

After a few hours, we were able to get on surface. Damage control team get on work. I went to write a few notes in Log Book. In gramophone I heared song - "It is long Way To Tipperary".

It is November 8, midnight. I was thinking to go a sleep, then suddenly someone of a crew on a upper deck screamed.

"It is destroyers! 2, both J Class"
- "To perescope depht, Get ready!"

So they want me so badly? I will teach them a lesson.

00:05 lunched our second torpedo, 00:07 it's a hit.

I turned back and started running from a destroyer. On the way back we heared shoting of his cannons. No chance! He missed all of them. But hell, he is fast!

-"Turn on right, and stop after 400 meters. Get in back torpedo section"

Destroyer was passing us from behind.
-"Fire"

01:00 "Yeah! It's a hit sir!"
Hum, sir again...

After all shoting we went to the Scapa Flow again.

03:15, we spoted one more ship.

- "One more J Class Destroyer?"
"No sir, it is Hunt 1, sir"

http://users.skynet.be/fb200747/img/sh3/hunt1.JPG

Hum, they call me much more "sir"... It starting anoying me.

- "Well, run silent, get close to him. 800 meter or something, open tube 1,"

03:22 "Fire the torpedo!"
03:24 Hunt 1 Destroyer was sinkig.

I went to bed, it was more or less lucky night for me. But I could sleep not for long.

It is 06:20. One more Hunt(er) was waiting for his doom. For me and my crew. At 06:25, he was doing it on the botom.

I couldn't sleep much longer. And couldn't wait much longer too. To see a Scapa Flow. That dangerous city. At 8 o'clock I was there. Not much... Silent and empty harbor. I'm disapointed was heading back home. But did it on perescope depht. Then suddenly at 11:50 sonar man told us that in front is a ship, worship... again.

We headed to him and at distance 2000m from him I gave a command to fire a torpedo. It was lunched, but missed. Oh god. It touched a ship and went in other direction. Then they will make better one?

- "Crew! Set a second one! Ready? Fire!"
11:58 "It's a hit, sir"

One more destroyer was sinking. Now home, all crew is tired and exousted. We need to have more CO2 on board. So I decieded to go on surface.

It is 12 hour, 24 hour after british ships tried to sink me and all changed for them so dramaticly...

"Sir! It is air!"

I runned on deck! Ofcours! It is british airforce!

- "Someone, man a flak gun."

What wierd, he came over us and desepierd in the sky... I feel so happy. Are they so afraid of me? Well I was standing on the upper deck for a few minutes more. And after I went in my chamber. To finish Log Book. At 12.20 I went on upper deck again to have some smoke. And suddenly we heared noices of motors, the air one.

I one more try? Oh no! He has a reinforcement. It is 2 Hurricanes MK 2.

http://users.skynet.be/fb200747/img/sh3/herc2.JPG

After a short fight and few bombs on the sides we managed to hit one of Hurricanes and second one, managed to get away. Maybe he lost his friend? Who knows. But it is war...

At our way back, at 16.30 we saw one more J Class destroyer. At 16:39 he saw our torpedo, but to late for him.

Half way back home, November 9. At 04:00 we get a tip from a contact about a ship heading our way. I started the interception.

One our later, we saw Small Merchant.

http://users.skynet.be/fb200747/img/sh3/smallmerc.JPG

It was challenge for mu deck gun crew. Well this time they didn't cried about weather. And went do it with a pleasure.

05:09 was shot lost round from a gun. He is going down.

For the rest of a day. Was nothing. We were enjoing of the weather whole day.

November 10, 04:30. A C2 Cargo, made us awake. He was heading in same direction as we did.

http://users.skynet.be/fb200747/img/sh3/cargoC2.JPG

We starded chasing him. Crew shot with pleasure on that huge ship. And did it so good that it was pleasure to look from a brige.

10 hours later. At 14:30, Message recived from a contact. One more ship heading our way.

15:00 We made visual contact. One more Small Merchant. And crew runned to the gun. After few shots they looked at me:

"Captn, you want to try?"
- "Well, what a hell, why not"
Now I know why they are in so good mood after usage of gun.

15:12. I did manage to make a hole in his hull.

On the rest of our way back home nothing special happend. My second patrol was more lucky.

At the harbor in Kiel.

I went from a Watch down to the control station. And suddenly all the crew screamed:

"At your service, SIR!"
- "Please, don't call me sir"
"Yes, SIR!"

On the end I get 7 medals for the crew and 1 for me - Iron Cross second class.

http://users.skynet.be/fb200747/img/sh3/ironcross.JPG

All events were true, exept of some details for making this story more or less interesting.

While you didn't get the tonnage, I'm sure the 7 destroyers you sunk will make the war effort a little easier on you and your uboat comrades.

Nice job with those DDs! They're not easy targets.

Just out of curiousity, but does the 7th Flotilla begin with VIIBs? I've only sailed in the 1st Flotilla and we get stuck with IIAs until we have enough renown to upgrade. I noticed you had one by the 2nd patrol, so I'm guessing you start off with one right away when you sail from Kiel.

Now for the bad news: you missed the Royal Oak by 6 days. Sucks, doesn't it?

Royal Oak? Oh no! Will I have a chance to meet him again?

See I'm a new in this sim. It is my 3rd day. And 3rd patrol. BTW, I'm making a story about my 3rd patrol day too, in great details. I hope you will like it like this one. Maybe tonight or tomorow it will be ready.

I think that may be referring to the Royal Oak being "sunk" (and removed from the game). I forget which uboat commander actually did sneak into Scapa Flow to do it, but it happened early in the war. If you use SH3 Commander, it will give you the date (assuming you go out on a patrol within the same month).
