Hi all. Two questions.

1. Is it possible to add these things from airliners.net to your site? How? http://www.airliners.net/ownsearch/

2. How can you make small thumbnails of images, no more than 6kb in size that will open up as a completely new page with a high-rez version of the same image?

I just started it, too. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

1. Which things are you talking about?

2. I think you'd have to do the HTML coding manually. Thankfully, there are tons of sites all over the web with examples of code you can use for free. A quick Google search ( http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif ) for "thumbnail html" turned up this site:

1. Search Airliners.Net from your homepage and Airliners.net Photo of Today. I'd like those on my main homepage, doesn't work when i copy and paste the codes for them.

2. Thanks, I'll try it out!

In my limited HTML understanding, it requires two images: the thumbnail and the full-size. Create the thumbnail by resizing the original using the likes of Photoshop or Irfanview (and be sure not to save it with the original name!!! http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif ).
Then call it using the HTML string:
<A HREF="thumbnail.___"><IMG SRC="fullsize.___" ALT="fullsize.___"></A>

Or you can use the link Jarink provided, click on the script link to pull up the text file, then cut-n-paste into your web page. Note the disclaimer that it's only good for Unix-based servers.

I'm self-taught, so there may be an easier way that I'm not aware of. BTW, welcome to the wonderful world of self-taught web design http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_cool.gif

I tried using the text you provided, you can find it in my page's "Movies" section, what did I do wrong?

I'd be too if I wouldn't have the extremely long loading times!

I don't use google pages, but it should work.

Airliners.net actually provide you with the Javacript and layout for the search.

Just copy and paste the code into your html file and it works like so..

http://gamers-review.co.uk/test.html

For the thumbnails you could either force the browser to resize the images, or resize them in PSP.

The problem with just letting the broswer resize is, it won't change the file size, it just squashes the image down.

To force the browser to resize and link to large image...

<html>
<body>
<a href="image.jpg"><img src="image.jpg" height="100" width="100"></a>
</body>
</html>

That turns the thumbnail into a hyperlink, and the full size image will open on a new page.
But Like i said, the file size will still be the same.

Are you using a WYSIWYG page builder?

I think so... and I persume you are typing the html in to that.
The page builder probably isn't set to use html.
So it replaces html attribute tags eg. <html> with & l t; html & g t;

It does this to stop you from using html in the page builder, so replaces the tags for the browser, so it reads it as text and not markup.

I hope i explained that clearly http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/compsmash.gif

Hurricane, I gave it to you backwards. Sorry about that.

That's the method I use, except swap width=xx% for the height="100" width="100".

Sorry dude, but it looks like it won't work for you until you edit the markup of the page instead of building it in a page builder.

It appears to me there are two extra bits of code that need to be deleted, let's see if I can write this correctly (delete the extra stuff in bold):
...href="sh3img271220052034248757ijresize.jpg">img src="sh3img271220052034248757ijresize.jpg" </a><a href="sh3img271220052034248757ij.jpg">sh3img271220052034248757ij.jpg</a> </p><p><br></p></div></div>

(Second opinions welcomed, I'm not very good at this).

Dude, it doesn't matter whether the HTML is correct or not.. either way, the page builder won't accept html.

There is an "Edit HTML" link in the bottom left corner of the page builder page. I have made some minor edits and they seem to work OK.

I did find one restriction on using Google Pages today. It seems though you can upload files (like zipped skins http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif ), there is a 10MB limit per file. Therefore, I had to break those 20-skin B-17F skinpacks into two parts. (They are intended for a Luftwaffe campaign which should be out very soon.)

My very much WIP page can be found here:
