SkyChimp,
I figure you will probably know the answer to my question.
Did the P-47 serve in Korea in any role or capacity at all?
Thanks!
regards,
Dave

BTW- Anyone one else with info welcome also.

No, during the Korean War, all P-47s were held back to protect the United States while the Corsairs went to battle.

P-47s served in many states' Air National Guard units during the Korean war, but were withheld from frontline duty in Korea.

Yep, and Air Force close air support was frequently handled by P-51's. I'm not sure this was really a bright idea since a rifle round through the radiator could cripple a P-51 whereas a round through a P-47 might go unnoticed until the crew chief inspected the plane. But, that was during the period when the Air Force was more interested in sexy, higher and faster aircraft, functionality and durability seemed to take a back seat, at least until the A-10 Warthog hit the scene.
