Been playing with it and added some small affects and some sound to give it a bit of feeling... I'll post it as soon as done.

Really it needs to be properly narrated... Fancy doing a voice over L.F...

L_F, just your normal voice should be fine!

Got anything handy to record it?

Can't mix them here on this rig, I'll have to do it when I get home!

Would I be correct in assuming that Silksheen was an RAF base? If so,does anyone know what a/c were based there?
Just curious,I'm doing(just out of personal interest)a research project on the WW2 airfields in my area, types of a/c,personnel,etc.
Old abandoned airfields seem to draw me to them for some reason. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

This summer im hoping to locate many of the derelict airfields in East Anglia caus i dont live too far away and i should be driving by then. Im gona draw plans of them and evaluate how much of the airfield is still visible and possibly used. ill take loads of photos too, possibly make compositions with some of them. Im really excited by the trip, the only downside is i have nobody to go with, none of my friends in RL are into any of the WW2 aviation stuff. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

Never mind, i like going to places alone anyway, its nice thinking time....

Wayno-Great links,I'll enjoy digging into the details.I enjoy learning about WW2 fields/bases anywhere in the world.

It looks like there are far more remaining structures in the U.K. than here in Texas.

I have to use Lat./Long. on Google map, then match it to an extremely detailed road/avi. type map I have.It usually turns out to be a corn, wheat or cotton field, but I do find something at a ratio of about 25%;usually only remains of the strip itself-very few structures. Most unfortunate. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/bigtears.gif http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/51.gif

I have faced and overcome many challenges in life - but trying to buy a microphone on a bank holiday in Weymouth has bested even my resources...will obtain one tomorrow and delight a waiting planet with the results.

Better be a good show after that build-up, eh? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

Slightly OT, but even living in North Worcestershire I am able to travel but a few miles in order to walk on old airfields...Defford (now DRA), Honeybourne (industrial estate), Pershore (foot and mouth burial site!!), Perdiswell (Worcester - from which my Dad flew in an Anson) and Moreton - in - Marsh (Fire Service College).
When Pershore was still operational in the 70's, as an ATC cadet, I was able to get flights to Scotland and back in a Handley Page Hastings.
One other airfield not far away, where I got my cat C glider pilot's licence as a cadet, is Little Rissington - now Army/industrial.
Thanks...brought back a lot of memories http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/clap.gif

The fields within a 50 mi. radius of me,were mostly 'auxillary' fields to 2 main bases-Waco AAF,and Blackland AAF(Texas).
Each base had it's own auxillaries, usually 3-4 spread around the main bases at basically compass headings of 0,90,180,270.

The 2 main bases are still active airports, but, alot of the auxillaries are on private farm land(in other words, you might get shot if you're spotted.)

The bases mentioned above, were both training facilities. One was basic flight training, while the other was a facility at which the WASP's(Womens AirForce Service Pilots)trained flight students in IFR.

If anyone's interested in WASP activities, they played a huge part in WW2 aviation in Texas.Link below:
