Almost end of my patrol (18th of Feb. 1942) and still some torps I sailed to Loch Ewe.
One destroyer was impossible so I had to sank her. In the port T3 , Fiji and ... nice surprise Illustrious !

Port hunting is still too easy to be realistic isnt it ? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-indifferent.gif

You are right, however this time destroyers patrolled very well Loch Ewe entrance. It was impossible without good shot and elimination of the last one on the route to the centre of port.

It is kind of chicken **** to hunt the ports but hey, I'm man to admit I sneek in there for some torp action. Coming out is not alway successful or easy! Sometimes you are knocking on the front door of the port and no one is home...not one stinking merchant or warship to be had. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/sadeyes.gif

I repeat my question :
- Where have you found carriers (in task forces)SH3 ?
- What's your experience ?

I never saw any carriers until late 44 early 45, now i see them frequently around Scapa, Harlepool, they are everywhere! The trouble is they travel at 20kts so i have to be in a perfect positionwhen they are sighted. i followed this task force all around Scapa, Lock Ewe and down until i finally got my prize http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/winky.gif

I could only just finish my patrol before running out of fuel. It was by far my favourite patrol as i managed on 73% and manual targetting. It was more luck than judgement, but at least i got her http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I met a giant task force just west of the British Isles in late 42. I fired all tubes at the carrier, but their blasted zig zaggin` worked. Damn.

Oh .. and after that two destroyers turned me into scrap metal.

I've only twice been able to catch a task force with their pants down. It wasn't easy for either.

For the first, I was able to (surprisingly) drop a King George with only 2 eels in the Straits of Gibralter. Wish I still had the screenshots of that. Approach was shockingly easy, escaping was hell.

In a seperate career, I had to use my very much inferior flank speed to cut the angle; but after 10-15 game hours, I managed to put an Illustrious and a Revenge on the bottom in AM 28.

Illustrious dropped immediately with 2 shots; the Revenge took 5 eels and a hell of a long chase (almost 7 hours) to bring down. The escorts abandoned their charges and kept going at 21 knots after the carrier was sunk and battleship was stricken. That never made sense to me, but I made the most of it. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
