I am barely containing myself. I just saw the screenie thread and PF can't come to the US soon enough!

But I have not seen the plane I want to see the most. Those F-4Us (Kinda looked like FG-1s?) were great, but no, I do not want to see a Navy plane as much as I want to see The P-40s and export variants

I want to see some Hawk 81 screenshots. I have been BnZing any small light manueverable plane in FB for over a week in a P-40E painted as AVG Tomahawk White 68 http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif . I can't take it anymore, I need to see a Hawk 81 pic, and the other model P-40s as well.

I'll beg if I have to.

Heh heh heh http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif Glad you like it guys!

Turned out OK didn't it really? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif I'm really pleased that Hammerd did the skin for me!

Thanks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Well, it's based on the Hawk 75 model from FB... but lots of changes were made between the H-75 and H-81 - I think the wings and undercarriage were about the only bits that didn't get modified.

So YOU'RE the guy who stole it out from under my nose. :P

Let's take this outside, shall we?.....

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Anyway, yeah, the inner gear doors got missed (they're different on the H81) and there's a few other things that need changing, but other than that, it turned out decent for a rush job.

LOL. Sorry it didn't work out with your model, PE...

And yeah, rush job is the right word. I think the project took about 11 days from start to finish, lol.

Very nice work all around!

One small critique of that beautiful skin, though

Shouldn't the fuselage band be red for the 3rd Squadron?

Hi PlaneEater and Eddie. I did the original H75s for AEP and also offered to make the P40B "conversion" but I was too late http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/cry.gif

So what really happened and what are the difference between P40B and H-81 models? PlaneEater did the original model and it was perfect. I checked it out and couldn't find any errors. Only some NULL materials were hidden and some parts were grouped. Maybe this got Luther confused?

I just had finished LOD 0 (in two days and I remodeled and remapped almost everything) when I got a word from Luther that P40B project was already given to some Ukrainian company. Then I sent the LOD 0 to Luther and he was supposed to forward it to the new modeler. Did you ever get it Eddie? It had also the wings and undercarriage correctly remodeled http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Vikate - yes, I did get the model, but by the time I got it, I'd already more or less completed my rebuild of the H-75 (and I must admit I didn't realise there were changes to the undercarriage - not enough time to research it!).

Nice to see the P-40 with the correct wing dihedral.

Viikate: I'd retell the whole sad, sordid tale, but Ubi would probably delete the post. And my account. And me. Go ahead and email me (hwhnn @ hotmail.com) if you want the full story...

Regardless, it did turn out looking pretty **** decent all things considered. And they used a good chunk of my work on the cockpits for the P-40Bs, which I'm proud of (wish they'd kept my .50 cal breeches, though. They looked so much better)

I can't help but feel partly responsible. I was always under the impression that the plane was to be added in a patch. I asked many times what was more important so I focused on that. Communication was always lacking and as my time got more and more limited I did what I could...again under the impression it was not to be in the inital release. Communication breakdown I suppose. Planeater if the reason your model was not included was due to my tardy (I did finish them) textures I truly am sorry. Plus who is this Hammerd guy and why do his skins look so bad. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/mockface.gif I am amazed it was done so well so quickly.

The plane on the pic was flown by a guy called Atkinson, who crashed in training after a collision with another pilot called Gil Bright.
the fuse number should be 1 , not 01
but it is a **** good looking skin http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

The skin isn't based on any particular plane. It's a compilation of several. The number (01) is game applied, not part of the skin.

I am now 99% certain that the 3rd Squadron AVG "Hell's Angels" had a red fuselage band after checking my sources, which include a coloring book, a Leprechaun, and a talkative Unicorn.

Oh, and some reference books, too.

Beautiful skin and I can overlook the blue band. I'm just sayin.

PlaneEater

Not your fault at all, Clay. I won't point fingers in here.

Chuck, yes, third squadron had red bands. Second used blue, and first wore white. Erik Shilling had a unique plane (64?) that was a photo ship with white AND blue bands.
