Well i supose no more than when Japan decided to attack the mainland US with unmaned ballon bombs. kida ridiculous when you think about both of these.
However if memory serves me....one of the ballons DID infact kill someone. and was i think the only war casualty on the US mailand.
Even if it was AFTER the ballon had crashed.

Early in the war, the RAF experimented with phosphorous wrapped in small parcels of damp wool and celophane in an attempt to burn German crops. Not too successful, although some damage done to Germans who had picked up the 'leaves' as souvinirs, put them in their trouser pockets, which in turn assisted the drying out of the wool - well, you can guess the rest.
