Hi,

The new map:
http://www.marian-aldenhoevel.de/ATW/images/pfs_map.gif

Coming into land:
http://www.marian-aldenhoevel.de/ATW/images/pfs_appr2.gif

I dunno about you but I think that it's tres tricky to make out the carrier what with the deck being the same colour as the sea.

Sorry about the resolution, too - I didn't have any anti-aliasing on.

Cheers,
Norris

Hi,

Thanks for the accolade! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

More importantly, are they going to have it where the arrestor wire can be made to be elastic? i.e. when you land, it springs you back off the deck and into the sea?

I think that should be an option in the conf file myself just to liven things up a bit.

Cheers,
Norris

Yes, the arrestor wire will be elastic. I saw an old E3 video where they had really early betas of PF people could fly. Some novice to carrier landing was trying to put a Corsair down on the deck. He hooked the wire but kept on flying. It snapped him back down onto the deck. Funniest thing I've seen in a long time!

Duh, we allways keep whining,

Finally a modern game that is backward compatible with the Commodore 64, and still it can do no good http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

Frankly, I'm appalled by those images.

ILS! on a WW2 carrier fighter.
I think the researcher should be sacked.

I see we are getting the Lake Orb map!!!

Finally, a game that recognizes the sacrifices and terrible fighting that went on around Lake Orb and "The Club" to the east.

^ Indeed. In July 1942, Frank 'Frank' Frankinson of RAF13 squadron crashed his aircraft into the hills in the NE corner. The worst thing about it was that 'Frank' didn't even see the hills coming because they weren't shown graphically in the game. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

I remember being a sad, pedantic b'stard even back then; spending ages flying to those hills and deliberately flying at 1001ft just to see what would happen. Simulations were truly 'fun' back in the 80s http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Anyone remember Spitfire 40 by Mirrorsoft? You had the 'dash' and the pilot view on seperate screens which really made landing tricky.

Makes me wonder how people could ever sleep at night after putting things like 'experience the thrills of WW2 air combat' on the cassette inlays of these games! Progress, eh?

Cheers,
Norris
