Hii,

I had the idea of creating a printed calendar for 2006 from edited screenshots (containing elements of your game) by members of screenshotart.com and screenshotprints.com.

Would it be allowed to offer that printed calendar to the community and only charge what it took to print and ship it? Or would that be agaonst your copyrights?

Thanks,

Simplex

Danke Foo.bar! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Well, I had the idea as Screenshotprints.Com and Screenshotart.Com already have a lot of members who created a great range stunning edits over the last year. It would be too sweet to see the best of them (or the high res images of them http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif ) printed in a calendar.

The question is if it is allowed by UBI/1C to charge at least for printing and shipping, not the calendar itself. It would be way too expansive to offer it completely for free.

I am aiming for a calendar with images at A4 as size. Maybe combining some images to fill one page would work too.

Maybe it would work for free when sponsors are involved.. They can put their logo on every page, main page etc and pay for printing... i think there is a lot of room for negotiations. I just need Oleg's comment on that.

S!

could someone with the right relations forward this thread to Oleg or/and Ubi? I am really curious about it.

Most of you know the quality of work at SSP and SSA and I am sure a calendar bringing you the best of them in at least A4 size would be a nice thingy, and pretty seet for 1C too..

It's funny you should say that.. I am working on one that should be done by years end for my squadmates.

http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif cool!!

Are you printing it yourself or using a company? I am curious about pices...

Still no sign from Oleg http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif

Seems I really have to abandon the idea or focus on a pure digital calendar in the way of wallpapers.. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif pitty!!

It is a real shame that this idea has been killed off effectively. Just a simple yes or no from Oleg would surely have been easy to offer.

You have guys here that are bending over backwards to showcase this flightsim to others, and also show other possible purchasers of the future IL2 BoB products, just how good the product can look.

C'mon Oleg, it may be too late for this year, but show a little interest.

You take the screenshots, it is your copyright.

It's that simple. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Unfortunely it isn't THAT easy as the 3d model and whole render has not been done by me (or whoever made the screenshot) The model, engine and used textures are property of their respective owners and if they do not want to have it included in a calendar (even if that one is for free beside produciton cost and shiping) I can get into real trouble.

It is that simple. You have taken a picture. You are not using the 3d model or textures. You have produced a new "work of art". It is yours.

The 3d model maker or texture maker hold their copyrights on their particular items, but not on your picture. You can take a photo of a statue or painting, and the creator of those does not have any rights on your photo.

Go ahead. You take a screenshot, it is a picture, you hold the copyright. It is not the model or game engine you have there, it is your "work of art" and you can do whatever you can with it.

Or maybe your copyright laws are different, but Finnish/European laws are very clear on this.

As far as we discussed that all together (Neill from SSA too) on several occasions before it is unlikely you can apply the same rules as in photography here.

If you can show me an excerpt with giving me the source you found it in I may think about just doing it again but as far as that is not 100% sure I won'T do anything.

I know large companies have lots of well payed lawsuits and little mercy in using them when they feel they lost a chance to gain money... http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
