I thought we needed a place to crow about the cool Flight/ flight simming stuff we got for xmas.

I know this is the best chance we get for family to quit looking at us sideways about our hobby(affliction?) and spoil us with TrackIr's and CH pro pedals so post your new toys stories here for us to share .

Mine wasn't exactly FB/PF related but my girls got me a Collectors edition of Timelifes The Great Photographs of WWII, they really know how to make daddy smile.

I got the Band of Brothers DVD's, too, and my girlfriend got me Anthony Beevor's Stalingrad and James Bradley's Flyboys. I think she's a keeper.

Nothing PC related, though I did ask Santa for a 6800 and TrackIR. Maybe I should have asked someone real.

I got a new PC upgrade.

From:
XP2000+
Soyo K7VTA Pro
416MB PC100 SDRam

To:
Sempron 3100+
Abit KV8 Pro
512MB Kingston DDR

I added my FX5900 and Maxtor 40GB HDD to the new hardware. An amazing speed boost. I only got to test with FS2004, HL2, and UT2004 though. The mobo had a bad memory socket (caused random reboots) so I rma'ed it for exchange. I should be back flying again around the first of the new year.

Boy FS2004 was sweet... even with autogen and nice AA/AF included at 1280x1024.

No sim stuff under the tree but the wife approved my order for a TrackIR. She did leave me a 1/48 scale kit for a MiG-29A under the tree, though to keep m happy till the TrackIR arrives next month.

I'm glad to see so many of you had good luck with the fatman in the suit. Now I'm going to hijack my own thread. I know some of you are of a religious nature and some scoff at such nonsense but I have a favor to ask of anyone here who reads this.
Could you remember me to the man upstairs if your so inclined this morning? I've not been able to sit up to fly for 2 days now and as soon as I post this up I depart to Phoenix for (I hope, this time) several injections into my spine and I'm really nervous about the whole thing. Hope to see my squad and the rest of you in the virtual skies as soon as tonight but if they decide to keep me and bump my surgeries up then Blessings to all and Good Hunting.

Jeez, I hope you're OK. I had some emergency surgery about this time two years ago, the 'get cut open or croak' kinda deal. not a lot of fun.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. The man upstairs doesn't owe me anything special but it doesn't cost me anything to put in a word for somebody else http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Okay, Udid2, you're officially on my whole family's list. Warning: my 71 year old Mom usually gets what she asks for from the Man Upstairs, which is undoubtedly why I've received more Mercy than Justice from Him. If you want to fine-tune (or upgrade) that request, now's the time...

Good luck and let us know how you're doing.

Just wanted to thank everyone for the prayers and wishes. Didn't get the epidurals I had hopped for because as usual they want a second opinion but it looks like I may get some relief tommorow which will be good until the surgeries get ok'd.
Painkillers are sorta fun the 1st couple days but I don't want to end up in the Rush Limbaugh club. Again guys thanks, means more than you might realise.

Word's on the way, Udidtoo. Godspeed!

My joystick doesn't get recognized anymore and flying with the arrow keys is h%ll. Don't what's wrong, but I'll post my t/s efforts on the tech page.
Got a little cash so maybe I'll just go pick up a Sound Blater Live. Maybe that'll fix my j/s prob.

No flight sim goodies this year so I took over
for Santa. I got MSI Neo 2 Platinum socket 939 and AMD Athlon 64 3500+ along with 1 gig of Mushkin
blue level DDR400. I'll probably upgrade my vid
card to X800 later on but for now my 9800XT 256
will do. Hurry up UPS!

Udidtoo...hang in there and by all means, take it easy. You kids out there...be good to your spines while you're young! Football, hockey, bootcamp, skateboard training, navigating stairs while drunk, etc. will catch up with you someday.

Oh yeah, I got PF, a Corgi LE 1:72 Diecast F4-U Corsair, a 16X Dual-layer DVD burner, 200GB HD, a Canon Digital Rebel & Accessories, a bad *** Digital camcorder, and a bunch of other stuff.

But I've been so busy putting my kids' things together and cleaning up the aftermath, the only thing I've touched is the Rebel, and man is it an upgrade from my old camera! Highly recommended.

I hope to build a computer in 2005, but am deciding on whether to go with the Pentium Prescott or AMD Athlon 64 processor. Any advice on that one?

I like AMD because you get more bang for your
buck. Intel is expensive! I would wait as long as you can before upgrading because all the new stuff will be coming out soon. I had to upgrade because my Gigabyte N400 Pro bit the dust on me.
This will be my first MSI board so I hope it turns out to be a good one. If only UPS would
hurry up with my CPU. This should be an improvement over my old setup. I can't wait!
