Hi all, I am new to this forum as I just bought Il-2 yesterday, got it for $20 Canadian, a steal as it included the addon's etc.
Only issue is there was no instruction booklet, or keyboard overlay included.
Does any body know where I could download the manual, or obtain the the overlay if it exists.
More than the manual I would like the overlay if there is one.

Cheers

Not one that comes with the game but start with Bearcat's Nugget's Guide to Getting Off the Ground (the sticky 2nd line down) and that should help you get you orientated. Good luck and enjoy.

You can find a .pdf version of the manual in the main game folder. It's called, (oddly enough) "Manual.pdf".
There are no overlays for the keyboard. I would recommend that you get a joysitck to fly the sim as using the keyboard is nearly impossible due to the flight model complexity.
Also check the Nuggets Guide (http://forums.ubi.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/23110283/m/9121094645) on this forum and visit Mission 4 Today's Knowledge Base (http://mission4today.com/index.php?name=Knowledge_Base) for useful tidbits to get you going.

Thanks guys for the info., I have a joystick and it works fine, and after installing the game, and 4.08 patch it took me about an hour to adjust control buttons, joystick and keyboard to my likeing (still tweaking), and another hour mastering getting off the ground with my BF 109, splattered many times lol.
Than again in real life the 109 was hazerdous at the best of times with respect to landing, and take off's, due to poor landing gear design.

Very realistic game, as opposed to the CFS series, which brings me to another question.
Unlike CFS which has helpfull little maps to zoom you to your next objective, how do you find your way to objective's in IL-2?
I have tried to follow other squadron members but have a hard time keeping pace with them, do you just follow them, go by the headings given to you over radio, or both?

On the difficulties setting you can adjust the ammount of info you get on your inflight map, icons, waypoints etc, enemy and friendly aircraft etc. You need to map a key to toggle the map on and off.

Which best Buy in Toronto M8 and was it the il2 1946 DVD? My wife is in Toronto for the next couple of days and I would like to have her pick up a couple of copies. Somebody always seems to need one.

Try the one at Warden & Eglinton in Scarborough.
When I was there yesterday they had about six copies on the shelf.

Good luck on the quest. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
