I'm having trouble getting 1946 in the States. I have gone to half a dozen stores already and they have no idea what I am talking about. I REALLY just want the DVD, I dont want to have to download it and then only be able to install it like 3 times for the rest of my life.

This happened the last time I bought a game online, it would only install 3 times and then would fail to install after that. Some **** copy protection. I like to re-install Windows every year or so and having the retail version would be nice.

It's not for retail sale in the US- yet

I've had it on good authority that it was planned to happen, but to tell the truth, I haven't seen anything to back that up

You have two choices as of now-

wait for the downloads

buy it online

Try gogamer.com for 46. I use them and think they are tops. I have the Aussie version here in the States; but big deal, it works fine<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

As of this moment, there are no plans by <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] to make the DVD available in US stores. Almost all US buyers that I've read on these forums purchased from Go-Gamer (http://www.gogamer.com/IL-2-Sturmovik-1946--I--PC-Coming-Soon_stcVVproductId7274576VVcatId444781VVviewprod. htm).

They ship to the US. There is also another store or two around that does as well. I'm sure others will link you up shortly.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Don't you just love how people spread unfounded info on these forums like that <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] has no plans for US distribution as if they worked for the company and had all the answers. Bah

Considering the fact that your link leads to nothing but a description of the game and the fact that there are many sources that show <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b], at this moment, is not marketing the DVD in the US, but may be available via download or possibly their online store, shows your ignorance and need to obviously attempt to provide facts about something you clearly know nothing about. Things can always change, of course, but please find one link that shows it will be available in any US retail stores, as the original poster asked. That was what my definitive answer was about, but you were too busy trying to prove somebody wrong to get any facts.

Thanks for sharing though.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

You might also want to try NWS (http://www.airwarfare.com/Sims/IL2/il2_essential_files.htm). From what I hear <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] does plan to market the sim in the US... we jst dont know when and at the moment you best bet is to go to one of the above mentioned sites. The engine has been stretched to fit multi-engined bombers, aircraft that are linked (such as the Mistel and the TB-3/I-16 combinations), aircraft carriers, runway cratering, working searchlights, etc.

I do hope it hits retail stores here in the US someday. In hind sight, I should have said it's not available at the moment, not made it sound like it would never be available. I always forget how literally people take things around here. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_rolleyes.gif As of yet, I haven't seen anything official about it, but I don't mind waiting.

Hopefully, downloads of just the add-ons will be made available. I have a little heartache paying $50.00 for basically two add-ons, considering I already paid for the rest. Although, it's a good way to support future development on other products, I'd like to just be able to upgrade what I have. If it hits US stores though, I'd probably pick-up a copy of the DVD.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I thought they had already said that it would be availible as two downloads for the same price as the DVD, which would mean your better off buying the DVD and getting the disk with the whole series and all the patches on it (Which will make re-installing it at a later date much easier) plus the extras that are included in the DVD package.

I just don't see the advantage to paying the same amount for the lesser product, but to each his own.

SlickStick

If it's the same price as the DVD for just downloaded V4.06 and v4.07, then I'd most likely have to buy the DVD. I don't see the economic advantage of paying the same for just two add-ons versus a DVD that has everything. Sounds a little strange that two add-ons = the same price as the DVD though. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

I guess we'll just have to wait and see how things pan out.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Depending on how the USD fares when the dl's are released, I expect to pay the same amount that I did for the Pe-2 4.05m dl and that was $18 and change USD.

If this is the case, at this time it is allot cheaper than the DVD and no need for the extra $$$ for shipping. Although I own the DVD, I am going to pick up the dl's also if for no other reason to have a copy of the entire series free from SecuROM, although at this time I am having no issues. And I already know how to deal with Boonty Box.<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

I'm waiting for it to hit the stores here.

Why? Because I like going shopping, that's why.

There's no rhyme nor reason to distribution when it comes to this software. I remember one release coming to the US before Europe. Now, go figure that one.

And, btw: <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] has destroyed alot of potential US sales by not releasing for Xmas.

Good point, tsisqua. Although, most likely not a HUGE number as of yet (mainly due to limited time it's been out), I'll bet that Go-Gamer has seen a nice spike in their sales figures for 2006 and will also see a healthy increase in 2007. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif<div class="ev_tpc_signature">

Yes, I'll bet that the late release was the best thing to happen to that company since its inception.

I believe that we are talking about a small importing company that seems to have been able to handle everyone that ordered. So . . . if they were able to get the dvd out to folks here in the US by Christmas, surely a corporation the size of <b style="color:black;background-color:#a0ffff">UBI[/b] could have done the same. I'm certain that their resources outweigh that of Go Gamer. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-surprised.gif
