Can someone give me a link to a site that has a lot of mods for the original IL-2 because google is flooded with 1946 results and none for the original game, I know 1946 has more options but I can't buy it now.

One of the mods I want the most is a mod that adds a me-262 to the available planes.

i dont think the game was modded before 1946 so that's probably why your having problems finding any.

That link to Amazon has 46 at less than $5, make sure you buy ONLY IL2-46, all other packages advertised are for the older Il2.

Once you have 46 you can then easily find the mods you are after.

If you want to fly the Me-262 you don't need mods anyway - it's in '46.

Guys he is not talking about the user mods. He means the official patches for the original game.

TG484 you are better off just buying a copy of IL2_1946 which includes original IL2, AEP, Pacific Fighters and all the official patches and addons up to 4.07 on the one DVD for about $10.00.

I may get 46 in the future, I was just wondering if there were any mods, Wikipedia's plane list is misleading.

Ok, well If I remember correctly the me262 was introduced with the Forgotten Battles expansion.

However that expansion pack was a retail version not a free upgrade.

There is no way to add the me262 to the original IL2 game.

I'm not trying to be rude but if you are into this game so much that you trying to hunt down extra aircraft that aren't in the original version, you just need to pick up '46. Its the price of a freaking beer.

Nobody is going to add mods to an outdated version of the game, and if they did they wouldn't add an Me-262 as it is already made flyable by Olegs team in Forgotten Battles.
So there would be no point to build one from scratch, and if the original model somehow ended up in the original game, that would be piracy anyways.

Everything that is in the original IL2 is in 46... and then some.

It wil save you a lot of time and hassle if you just got IL2 1946. You could get it 2nd hand off ebay for around 5 or new for 10.

You people are missing the point, I can't purchase 46 right now. I know I can buy it for 10-20 dollars, I may buy it in the future but I was just wanting to know if there were any mods I could use for now.

I have put in everyone of my posts that I can't buy it now you people just keep missing it. This topic seems more to be about flaming me to buy it rather than help with mods.

You are seeking something that doesn't exist. You have said that you want the Me-262 the most. To get the Me-262 you'll need to get '46. You won't get it in a mod.

We're not trying to flame you ,its just that 1946 is so cheap now buying it is a no brainer ...As above I bet there are guys with a few spares here who would prob post you one if you were really stuck for a few $E otherwise its worth many times the 5 of those it would prob cost you on Ebay used ...beware though you will spend a lot more on PC upgrades etc ...NB This game is very CPU limited -Dont spend a fortune on graphics cards to make IL2 go faster -its throwing away money if you dont play other games ...Mind you 1946 needs quite a bit more hardware power than IL2 so be sure youve got the spec for it ...post pc spec here ...All the best ,John (Ireland)

IL-2 was not modded. It wasn't until long after IL-2 1946 came out that any mods occurred. So the original question can be answered simply: No. There is not.

So... isn't IL-2 1946 at $5 on Steam right now? I can totally understand not being able to find $20 or $60 or so forth but at $5 that's like not buying a coffee two times next week in savings http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

It's a gigantic bang for the buck either way... It's incredibly cheap and the replay value is much more than ALL of the XBox 360 and PS3 games out there right now.

Indeed the expensive part these days is not the software... It's the addiction that then drives you to buy a joystick/throttle/rudder pedals/build a cockpit, etc. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

TG484... Are you asking about the patches for the orginal game... IL-2 Sturmovik or the series Forgotten Battles/ Forgotten Battles Ace Expansion Pack/ Pacific Fighters/ Pe-2/ Manchuria and 1946?

If your talking about orginal IL-2 Sturmovik the game patches can be found here and you need the following patches... *IL-2 Sturmovik Patch 1.1a and the IL-2 Sturmovik Patch 1.2.*

http://www.mission4today.com/i...name=Downloads&c=598 (http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Downloads&c=598)

You'll have to Register to use the Mission4Today sites downloads... it's free. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-happy.gif

For the orginal Forgotten Battles game you will need this patch... *il2_fb_v1.0_to_v1.22.exe.*

This link at the Mission4Today web site also has the install guide to give you a hand.

I was just checking my setup IL-2 games and the Me-262 in the orginal IL-2 Sturmovik is only AI and none flyable. And other than the orginal game patches there are no mods for this game.

I also ran the orginal IL-2 Forgotten Battles game setup... the Me-262 are flyable in the orginal game with two models available... Me-262A-1a & Me-262A-2a.

I have all the original patches for the original IL2 and FB etc.. If you want to PM me, maybe I can burn and mail you a DVD with all the official patches for IL2. If you do not have the latest patch then you do not have all the flyable aircraft you should have.

Quick Patching Guide
If you have the original version of IL-2 Sturmovik, then you need:

il2upgrade_1.1a.exe
il2upgrade_1.2.exe
il2upgrade_1.2ov.exe (optional)

If you have only Forgotten Battles, then you need:

il2_fb_v1.0_to_v1.22.exe

If you have Ace Expansion pack, install it over any version of FB. Then you will need:

il2_aep_v2.01.exe
il2_aep_v2.04.exe

If you have Pacific Fighters and you want to install over FB+AEP (you need both), you can install over v2.0, 2.01 or 2.04. Then you will need:

pf_v303m.exe (100 Mb; goes over v3.0m)
pf_v401m.exe
pf_v402m.exe
pf_403m.exe
pf_patch404m.exe (21.8MB)

If you have Pacific Fighters installed as a 'stand alone' sim, you will need:

pf_v303.exe (100 Mb; goes over v3.0)
pf_v401.exe
pf_v402.exe
pf_403.exe
pf_patch404.exe (20.5MB)

Anyone Know why if I have IL 2 Fb,AEP and PF, PF won't install as a merge with the first 2,,, only as Stand Alone? If I only install th 1st 2 discs of FB ans AEP, PF will merge, but then what about the 3rd disc of AEP?
Also, have purchased the D/L version of 1946, but it won't finish D/L. Tried for three days, but nada. Tried to get help from ubi soft, or the D/L people(Digital River) to no avail.

woofiedog

pappyb2006... Following these steps you should be able to merge PF with IL-2 FB/AEP.

If you have Pacific Fighters and you want to install over FB+AEP (you need both), you can install over v2.0, 2.01 or 2.04. Then you will need:

pf_v303m.exe (100 Mb; goes over v3.0m)
pf_v401m.exe
pf_v402m.exe
pf_403m.exe
**pf_patch404m.exe** (21.8MB)... not the pf_patch404.exe (20.5MB) patch as this is for the stand alone version of PF.

As far as your download problem of 1946, you need to contact the Digital River support.

Hope you solve the problems and welcome to the Il-2 forum.

Thanks for the info..what I mean is this:
I install the 1st 2 discs of FB/AEP and can install PF as merge, but if I install all 3discs of FB/AEP, then PF only installs as "Stand Alone"

woofiedog

pappyb2006... When installing the PF game versions, the game install menu asks if you want to install PF merged or PF stand alone. You should be able to install either or both versions of PF/PF Standalone. I have the disc version and just reinstalled both versions just to see as it's been a few years since I used just these two versions... but the download version should also give you both options of the game. For both versions I would recommend setting up two separate folders on your hard drive... such as HD X:\Program Files\Pacific Fighter & HD X:\Program Files\Pacific Fighters Standalone for the two games.

There is also one other option... you might want to checkout IL-2 1946 which has all the the IL-2 games combined and the includes the following aircraft and has the aircaft carriers.

I understand and looks like 1946 is the way to go.
My original problem is that when I load all three discs of FB and AEP, when I try to install PF, it doesn't give me the option to install merged, only stand alone. However, if I install the first 2 discs of FB/AEP, then PF will install merged. If this works, then do I really need to install the 3rd disc of FB/AEP( which incidentally shows the Japanese aircraft)?
I know this may sound dumb to you, but without all 3 discs of FB/AEP, the game won't start.
As for help from Digital River, it's non-existant.....they just send me back to UBI.

woofiedog
02-09-2011, 03:41 PM
If I'm understanding you correct... you really only need the PF disc to start the game as all of the FB/AE/PF will be one game under the PF Merged version or a seperate stand alone PF. Unless you have each game seperated into a individual folder for each of the games.

The 1946 also has the improved FM and handling and allows you to patch right up to current 4.10. Saw new copies at Amazon just last week for $8 ea, but only 7 copies left then. It's not just a matter of more planes and maps.
