Been more than a couple of threads about the Year of the Harbinger over the last few days, and since we're only a few days away from the next Den, and more teasers were made available today, I figured it'd be best to just compile everything here.

No speculation or theories allowed, I'll only post facts and official posts about this.

Y'all can see the name reveal of the first new hero for the Knights, and roadmap for the Year of the Harbinger here; https://forhonor.ubisoft.com/game/en-us/news-community/152-341958-16/new-heroes-and-more-coming-in-the-year-of-the-harbinger

If anyone is so inclined, you can see the new effect in action here; https://www.reddit.com/r/forhonor/comments/a7acu3/year_3_effects/

UPDATE; The For Honor Twitter has released a teaser gif for tomorrow's Den, showing a possible Assassin's Creed crossover; https://twitter.com/ForHonorGame/status/1075435597127241728

When looking at the roadmap I noticed it says M/F for all upcoming characters. Does this mean none of them are genderlocked? Cool. And is it just me or does the Samurai's axe now look considerably smaller in the picture?

Hell yeah, a new knight hero who isn't a Roman :p

I am excite.

I reckon they'll be hybrids. Heavy / Vanguard, only because they tend to be more interesting than pure heavies.

No idea where you read that, but that can't be right. Vortigern was mostly using magic in the newest film. Other than sharing a name, I can't imagine they'll have anything else in common.

So we gonna get only 1 new char per seasons next year ? Next to few rework and re rework they still have to do after S9 such as LB, Glad, Raider, Nobu.

And I could go for a neat chainmail hood with a crown or something, and gothic style gauntlets. It'd be pretty sexy.

Does anyone know where the word "Vortiger" comes from?
Whether it has a meaning in another language or is based on something?

Vortig is Dutch and it means 'disgusting', I doubt that's it.

I should also add that the word "Vortig" is dialect so.... definitely not it.
Even though I speak Dutch, I hadn't heard of it before.

However I was able to find a British king with a similar name: Vortigern.

Apparently he was a British ruler in the 5th century.
Here's the link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vortigern

Nearly posted a link to the Dutch version, haha.

I know Wikipedia isn't the greatest of sources, but I'm not really in the mood to spend the whole day researching stuff on the Internet.

The answer to your question lies just a bit lower; https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vortigern#Vortigern_as_title_rather_than_personal_ name

Haha, thanks!
In the Dutch version it didn't explain the name so I skipped over the English one as well.

No problem, with all the different Wikipedia versions it makes sense to not expect the same of each one, but luckily you got your answer there.

Oddly enough I only knew that specific bit was in there 'cause I was lookin' up the same article earlier.

Now I remember. I think in the Halloween Den episode Pope recommended the movie.....soooo coincidence?

Wasn't that great a movie, but I'd have to go back and check that Den episode for the whole context. Still can't imagine there being much similarity between the two, unless the developers have just completely gone off the deep end character wise. Can't remember much of that movie, but I don't even think Vortigern used a sword and/or shield.
I'm assuming we're talkin' about that new King Arthur movie starring Jax Teller from Sons of Anarchy?

Also updated the OP with more info.

No apologies needed buddy, regardless of what we both think, we'll know more tomorrow. Either way, the Vortiger hero actually gets me kind of excited. Way more than the King Arthur movie did.

How about ubisoft fixes the game and balances some more heros before they try to sell us some more broken heros? The wu lin has been out for all of three months, still bugged and they want to sell us another season's pass?

Needed?

Sorry but what is needed first is a rework of some old Heroes so they are not at a constant disadvantage in all gamemodes anymore.

Both last few rework and new hero are needed. A triple A studio should be able to fix things and released new one at the same time in a year.

This is what i meant. So it looks like 1 new hero every 3 months or so...should be able to get balancing done at the same time. one would hope as a AAA
