This is the first of a skinpack of about 20 G6 skins. Thought I'd upload this for comments.
I mostly want feedback on the weathering, too much, too little etc. Any comments will be appreciated. Thanx in advance...

To DL go to www.helgsskins.com (http://www.helgsskins.com) 'Paint Shop', 'Gustav' scroll to the bottom...

weathering looks a little excessive, but it could be the way you did the screenshot(looks odd). but otherwise great skin!

Topside looks great but the bottom is a little too overdone - it looks more scratched/ belly landed than weathered. Perhaps toning it down a tiny bit or making it more mud splattered then what looks like grass stained?

My personal preference is for less weathered looking skins, but it does look good Helg http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif
maybe do a "cleaner" version as well http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
all the best, Keith.

Looks nice. You trying to do all the German squadrens before you retire. And I think the bottom is looking okay(hay when your low on supplies and Hell is falling from the sky you cant wash your planes there to busy spittin out nonsence while im spittin' out lead wait spin that around). http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/25.gif

Loverly scheme and weathering mate, but I feel the rivets are to 'proud' and dark.

Hi Helgstrand
Great Skin you make.Thx a lot.

Just two little things i have:

The only Photo i know from this machine shows Grislawski at the rudder of "White 10" but the aircraft is brandnew.
Didn´t he flew it when he was asssigned to JG.Gr.50?
And shouldn´t the Killmarks only be on the left side of the rudder?

Thanx Kongo. Yeah I don't know why I put the kill marks on the left side. Been looking at too many plastic model kits. Do you have that pic you could share? Yes I'm sure it was brand new at one time but mine represents it after a few battles and rough weather of the Russian Front. Planes didn't stay new looking for very long.
The reference I used said it was 1./JG 50 but if you have something that says different I can change it. There's going to be an updated version in the skin pack anyway, when I finally get it done.

I thought I'd let you all know how things are going with my G-6 skinpack. I re-did all the panel lines and rivets and re-worked the weathering some on my template...This one flown by Alfred Suaru of 9./JG 3. The template will probably get tweaked some more before final release.

Comments and suggestions very welcome...

Looking very good there Helgstrand. Overall a great bird. Would like to see a little bit more of a 3D effect on the gear fairings.

Hi, Helgstrand.

I haven't visited your site for a while. Wow you'v e been busy. These are some exceptional skins, but a visit to your website shows how consistant your skill has been.

Love the Tropical skin pack on there too.

Thanks for these, your efforts really are appreciated. Cheers, MP.

Hi Helg,
You have done a very good job on your new template!
I have conducted a great research to document a series of Mediterranean Gs I'm planning to release and the camo pattern you've used on the JG3 machine is generally correct, but you have to add some sections of RLM 74 on both wings to get it perfect...

Thanx for the kind comments guys...

Here's the latest addition to the skin-pack...
(No theme for this skin pack other than being a G-6}

This plane was flown by the Finish AF during the war. The original Luft markings were painted over with RLM 80 and Finish wartime roundels painted on. The Finish wartime roundels were then painted over with RLM 75 and peacetime roundels added after the war. It was used in the "Mid Summer Air Festival" held at Utti Airbase in Finland in 1950, where it and 3 other 109's participated in a race.
Thus the paint job...

Hi Helgstrand,
Excellent skins!

Only some background and comments on the original Bf 109 G-6 "White 10":

"White 10" has been credited as Alfred Grislawski's Bf 109 G-6 when flying together with Graf in JG 50, which had been active as from 15 August 1943 as a "Mosquito-hunting unit" over Germany together with JG 25. Grislawski being promoted to Hauptmann and being appointed as acting Geschwaderkommodore for JG 50 in October 43 when Graf took charge of JG 1 as acting Kommodore.
Both units being disbanded already in the end of October 1943 since the achievement regarding intercepting Mossies was pretty dismal. JG 50 did consequently not fly over Russia but from well organized bases in Germany. From what can be seen of this 109 on the photo it seems to be in a pretty "clean" look, why I believe weathering is best applied sparingly.
"White 10" of 1./JG 50 being photographed at Wiesbaden-Erbenheim in September 1943, the aircraft being equipped with MG 151/20 under wing cannon. This armament can look strange for a "Mosquito-hunter" but the fact is that JG 50 also flew against USAAF bomber raids over Germany why the cannons came handy. The last three victory bars being decorated with U.S. stars after claiming three B-17s shot down in August and September 1943, while the remaining being adorned with red stars. Later two more bars with U.S. stars were to be added before the rudder was dismantled and sent to Grislawski's home. It still exists today.
Note that on the top of the rudder marking, in the 12 O'clock position, one can see a painted "G" and "A" superimposed on top of each other. (Graf's 109 having an "G" and "h" in similar fashion)
Cheers!
