View Full Version : At what time did different 109 & 190 versions come to service?

The game offers only the year when they came, not the month. Also it would be interesting to know when they were really in wide service. For example, the first Bf 109 F-0 delivered to a squadron doesn't really mean that the Friedrich was in serious use.

This question popped to my head when I was reading Julius Meimberg's autobiography, when he wrote that they were still using the G-6 Messerschmitt in the summer of 1944, although with the wooden tail unit and Erla-haube (they changed to the G-14(/AS) soon after). And although this might be a more challenging question, I'd like to know when those versions of the Bf 109 and the Fw 190 reached different fronts.

If somebody knows the answers to my questions, a comprehensive list would greatly appreciated.

That IS a tall order!

With regard to Germany - new equipment allocation under the Third Reich would be a bit haphazard i'm sure.

However, as with the premiere SS Panzer divisions (LSSAH etc.), units that were considered elite were generally given new equipment first.

Therefore the Kanalgeschwader JG2 & JG26 would have received new models before say a fighter unit in the Mediterrenean/Russian theatre. And while these theatres also had their elite units, the Western front was probably given priority for new equipment due to technical superiority of the Allies.

In answer to your specific question though, you would have to look at particular units, Staffeln/Gruppen, in order to find out when they received new models and even, then older models which were still servicable would have seen continued use (for some time at least)...

I did this "IL2:1946 plane set spreadsheet" last May

Plane Service dates in a speadsheet.

Want to know what planes were available in any given month? Compiled from many sources and books, this is the best available information I have.

If you find any changes needed pm me with your reference and I will make it

it is excel format - microsoft makes a free excel viewer that allows viewing and printing

get it here:
