When looking at the spec for the A20 on several web sites about the plane, most of them state it can carry 4000 lbs of bombs.

The object viewer in the game says it can hold 4000lbs

http://www.csd.uwo.ca/~pettypi/elevon/baugher_us/a20-17.html
"Maximum internal bomb load 2000 pounds in split bomb bay plus (on later models) 2000 pounds on four underwing hardpoints"

http://www.fleetairarmarchive.net/Aircraft/Havoc.htm
2,000 lb bombs internally, 2,000 lb externally

http://www.daveswarbirds.com/usplanes/aircraft/a20havoc.htm
up to 4000 lbs. of bombs

http://www.military.cz/usa/air/war/bomber/a20/a20_en.htm
2,000 lb bombs internally, 2,000 lb externally

http://www.ww2guide.com/a20.shtml
This is the only site that supports only 2000 bombs, but the rest of the loadlout does not match the plane. (Compare between the G and H)

The A-20G we have has the external mounts for bombs, but ya can put 500lb bombs on them, but then you are only permited to put two 500lb bombs in the internal bay. On the flip side I can carry 2x500 + 4x300 = 2200 pounds internal, but it will not let me put anything on the external points.

The only loadouts that are given are:
40 parafrags
2x100
2x100 + 8x100
2x100 + 8x100 + 2x100
2x300 + 8x800
2x300 + 8x800 + 2x100
2x300 + 4x300
2x300 + 4x300 + 2x100
2x500
2x500 + 8x100
2x500 + 2x500
1x1000
1x1000 + 8x100
1x1000 + 4x300
1x1000 + 2x500
1 torp

So, my question is, is this an error, or is there some reason for this?

well, the only thing i can say is that the selection of the loadouts (of a lot of planes, not only the A-20) are not the "strongest" point of the developement team http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

sometimes something is missing , sometimes something is wrong, means should not be availabe with the specific palane type.

to colect all "errors" would fill pages http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

IIRC, the these loadouts are permitted with 100% fuel. Larger limits IRL were permitted with less fuel. Be nice if there were a way to allow us to have full bombload with less fuel.

Another prime example: the P-47. It would be killer to be able to carry less than the full external loadout weight and extra ammo. A 500lb bomb and extra ammo would be my standard package then.

I'll tell ya, if I can only take 2000lbs of bombs vs an A-20, I'll just take my P-47D-27 so I can get in and out faster, and defend myself better.

P-38 could also carry 4000lb of bombs. 2x 2000lb or a rare field mod version with 2x1000lb bombs on the mail pylons, and 4 500lb bombs on field mod pylons. They even mounted 4x 250lb bombs on the outer pylons used for the HVAR's.

2x2000lb bombs was used and used quite a bit.

The Beaufighter Mk. 21 should also be able to carry 1000lb of stores under each wing (not the current maximum of 500lbs), and 2 500lb bombs on the fuselage (currently no bombs), so we are missing loadouts here too. Ditto loadouts missing for the Hurricane IIs.

im hoping they mod the a20G to like the ones the RAF and VVS used, 4 hispano's in the nose

4x20mm was the original armament. The USA hadn't implemented all the Hispano improvements that the UK had to create the Mk II in the M2 20mm so had jamming problems, hence the move to 6 .50s instead. I am not sure if the RAF versions used the M2 or Mk. II.

Not being too up on A20 operation history, but us Brit's didn't use the G model. We used the C alot though, and its a **** shame we don't have it http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_frown.gif.......yet maybe?

I for one would love to have the ordinance loads revised greatly. When i'm in an attack mood, the A20 is my first choice and I can do fairly well in getting her to hell and back and throwing her around.

Shes a **** fine bird, and needs to be given more bombs for me to exercise her with http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Oleg and people, if you see this, please please please make an effort for us http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Thanks http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_smile.gif

Right you are - I was thinking of the RAAF not RAF.

Sad, but the same story for the B-25. It also lacks payload http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

There are all sorts of loadouts missing, Allied and Axis, sadly.

I, myself, am waiting for the 2 X PC1400 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/heart.gif loadout on the Ju 88A-4!

La-5s had 8xRS-82s!! No kidding! But we don't have em in game http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-mad.gif

And A-20s had Rockets in VVS service (although I dunno if the G had em right enough).

Hurricanes had loads of stuff in RAF and VVS service, like Rockets! (recurring theme here methinks!!)

Fw-190s have rockets in game, but they also had panzerblitz which were kick *** rockets!! (but none in the game!)

P-51s had HVARS (and possibly Tiny Tims?) in the pacific.

There are loads of aircraft with missing/wrong loadouts. But I doubt we're gonna get any of em fixed.

any info on that?
the bombbay can only take 3000lb's which is actully higher than what was in the requirements. i know they fitted external bomb racks, but dont know if they used external and internal together. would give u about 5000lb's of bombs i think.

The B17 also has external racks. I am not sure how much (if ever) they got used, though.

B29's where tested with 2 external hardpoints to carry 2 Tallboys or 2 Grandslams. Not sure if they were every used operationally though, very much doubt the Grandslam carrying would have been an option in the pacific theatre.

Something like this?

http://free-st.htnet.hr/dvd/B29withdualTallboyinstallationdetail2.jpg

But B29 could cary only one Grandslam, and that only internaly. Two Grandsalms weight almost 45000 lb, that's way to much for B29...

For A-20G, 4000 lb was max loadout internaly. External racks could take up to 4*500 lb bombs, for maximum overall of 4000 lb. One of less used field modification was 12*4,5 inch rockets (4*3-tube launchers, same one as rockets on P47)!
Only first 250 A-20G were armed with 20 mm cannons, after that all had 6*0,5 cal. Majority of cannon armed A-20s went via Lend-Lease to SU. And introduced with A-20G-20 (after 750 built) was twin 0,5 cal electric rear turret. Before that, single hand held 50 cal was responsible for rear defence.

What bomb sets comprised the 4000 internal load? I am presuming 8x500lb?

ah thanks mosor, so the different rear "turret" means we probably wont get it http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-sad.gif

the russians also fitted some type of rockets too.

aaron, the b25 external racks where used to some extent, as they would be useful in the low level ops they did in the pacific..

B-25sJs carried over 4000lb as well.

Note that even the B-25C/D had racks for 60-100 parafrag bombs, not the 40 we have (they were dropped in 3-bomb clusters from a "honeycomb" rack). (Warpath Across the Pacific claims 207 (!) parafrags in a B-25C/D, not sure if that is 23lbers, or the early 6lb version)

Note that the whole parafrag issue is kind of moot since the AI won't drop them properly, and when they do drop the execute climbing rolls, so even line abreast at 100m (way way way too high) they look stupid.

Turns out I have a picture of a B-25J loaded bomb bay with 72 23lb parafrags in it in the same book.

I'd like some 100lb para-demo bombs as well. And incendiaries for the B-29s. And parafrags for all the other B-25s. <G>
