I must be very stupid but I have a game (licenced) purchased in Thailand. Does not have the book. I cannot find a list of functions for each action. For example, I want to take off from a carrier. Am I supposed to release the brakes or something? Want to open bomb doors, don't know which button to press. Want to drop tailhook, don't know which button. These functions are not in in IL-2 Forgotten Battles. When I call them up in the game (the list of functions), there is no mention of these functions. Does anyone have the list or can tell me where to find them? There is no PDF button function list for PF on the two discs except for a Word document on installing Pacific Fighters. Anybody know? Stuck on the deck in my Seafire!

Assign a key for chocks.

There is no key for bomb bay. They open automatically when bombs drop (weapon 4).

And how did you buy a legal copy of PF without a manual? Let me guess, it came on CDRs...

caps lock is the first button that should be ignored. At least you found that one.

you need to map those extra keys.

go into your key assignment section in the game menu, and in the controls section re map all the functions you need.

also, visit www.airwarfare.com (http://www.airwarfare.com) for an excellent comprehensive rundown on all you need for PF.

buona fortuna.

I had similar problems when I was new. =)

There are many keys that have not been set in this game. You need to get to the main menu and select "CONTROLS."

To take off from a carrier you must set the "RELEASE CHOCKS" key (or something to do with chocks.) If you go through the list there are many keys you should set (like fire extinguisher).

Good Luck Pilot!

This is easy.

Install 3.04 over 3.03.
Ensure your carrier is stationary.
Load up your plane with the heaviest loadout.
Apply full throttle.
Remove chocks.
Take off.

Just kidding, kids.

Seriously, taking off from a carrier became easier with the latest patch...and it's even easier still if the carrier isn't stationary (as it shouldn't be).

Cheers,
Norris

Shouldn't be? http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blink.gif

What direction is your non-stationary carrier going Norris, backwards ? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_confused.gif

A carrier steaming at 30 knots gives you an approximate 50kph of additional windspeed to take off in. Should make things MUCH easier, not more difficult.

You have a manual!!

There are PDF files of both the manual and the controls leaflet in the main game folder. Look under either Program or Program files: Ubi Soft: Pacific Fighters/or Forgotten Battles.

I have registered versions of il2 and FB which came out in Thailand about 9 months after the rest of the world... bu the manuals were in Thai... not easy even if you are fluent in Thai as it is rather technical stuff not your average day to day conversation...
I've looked out for the AEP and PF but not seen them yet... had to get mine from UBI and I got the FB from Amazon.com
I also got the cracked versions of FB and il2 so that I didn't need to have my CD in.... haven't seen one for AEP and the PF one is just the two RAR files they put out on the web I presume.... still looking for a way around having the CD in....
hate to think of my PF disc going bust... UBI insisted on sending it by Fed-Ex so naturally it incurred duty so I ended up paying about 70 pounds for mine!!

Reread his post ... he is saying that it is harder if the carrier is not moving .. and that it shouldn't be not moving ... ergo: it should be moving... he's using a double negative. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
