View Full Version : What is the use of that total reputation parameter?

Sorry for a n00bish question, but n00b in this game I am. Couldnt find the answer or figure by myself, so dared to ask here. The personal reputation system for every character seems plain and simple: 1 rep point per 20 levels opens new eq drop possibilities plus various 'Bells&Whistles' stuff. I'm ok with that. But every time I got +1 rep on different characters, it adds to a total value on upper screen, near the steel count. And that total value shows in battle, instead of that precise character's personal rep. So what is that value for? Does it open some another bells'n'whistles, like colours, emblems, helm figurines etc, or something else?

The overall reputation level is simply a way for you and others to see a players overall experience. The only incentives for reputation are for each hero and there are none for overall reputation level. If you would like to view a players reputation level for a specific hero during the face-off screen before a match, I believe you press the left trigger on your controller to display it.

A lot of people are coming into the opinion that it doesn't matter and I do think that past rep ten or so matchmaking should turn it off (not sure if that is possible but matchmaking can already keep you out of ranked if you are less than rep 1). In the first few reps it does have somewhat of a purpose though in keeping relatively new players together, I didn't meet a rep 10 until I was near or past that point myself unless I was grouped up with others in my group.

Thank you for the answers. That's just what I've been afraid for. As a n00b (and lame one) I play many characters, and I do like each of those. The more characters - the faster total rep growth, bringing harder enemies and making higher expectatons with lower specialisation skill. So, that's bad, completely malicious parameter, and I should avoid growing it by every possible means. To choose a one and only character and use others when requested by contracts only, keeping eye to have their progress as slow as possible. Too sad, I've just bought a complete Knights set (except genderlocked peacekeeper), plus some others thanks to the event.

Believe me, you're doing the right thing by playing all heroes. Everyone sucks at low levels so it's ok and it keeps your elo from growing fast by maining a single hero.

If you keep leveling a single hero and decide to try the others later, then you're going to have a bad time because you have to deal with long time players without any experience about your hero and without any gear. It's pure suffering and makes me want to uninstall the game.

In the short term there should be a double xp event coming soon, if you have time to grind one of these that is a good time to get a bunch of reps. Longer term in October gear stats are going to disappear and instead it will be a case of perks which the devs aim to make horizontal rather than vertical progression. We'll have to wait and see how then perks are balanced since there will be more available higher rep than low but it does mean that you won't wind up with a few % less offence and defence along with the capability for doing less moves before you run out of stamina.

Yea,I leveled up all characters evenly(ish) It's good to know all the moves. It's handy. If the enemy are going all assassins,it arushama time for eg. But I've got the time. If your working or have an actual life,I suggest play em all, but have 3-4 mains. The disadvantages are your overall rep will increase quicker, so you will get picked on more often. Also you can have 200 rep and go against a 50 rep,but his character is 50 rep. You may be 4 times higher, but it means jack diddly squat. He's gunna know his guy a lot more than you know yours Also, don't use scavenger crates unless your at least rep 7 ( 8 is best ) Gear before then is temporary.AND make sure you have champion status during the double xp event.
