Gameplay

Will certain buildings be accessible from the inside?

Yes, some of them will be accessible from the inside.

Is the flying machine a one shot experience in Assassin’s Creed 2?

We have a lot of ideas around the flying machine and other new types of gameplay we are developing for the game. The Italian Renaissance was such a cauldron of creative minds that any game designer’s dreams could come true in Assassin’s Creed 2! More specifically, on the flying machine, we’ll adjust our plans depending on the feedback we get from playtests.

How many hours of gameplay can we expect in AC2?

We have greatly increased the scope of the game since the first installment of Assassin’s Creed, so just completing the core of the game will be longer than the 20 hours it took in the first game.

Moreover, we have developed several different optional gameplay that will add a lot of depth to the whole experience and will also extend your gameplay time in a very significant and meaningful way. As for the exact number of hours it will require it’s still too early to say!

How will combat work?

Many new skills concern the fighting system – without naming all the new possible moves, Ezio can master a great amount of new weapons: long pikes, axes and warhammers to name just a few. As those are heavy weapons, Ezio won’t have to carry them all the time: he will now be able to disarm his enemies and use their weapons against them. He will also use his hands more efficiently when fighting, performing various punches, kicks, grab movements, head butts & spectacular grabs... Holding your enemy by the collar and hitting him with your forehead is quite soothing…If you happen to be burning with vengeance like Ezio is.

One hidden blade is fun but two is better. This time, Ezio will have one hidden blade on each arm. Imagine all the possibilities in new assassination moves, counters and upgrades using two hidden blades. My favorite one is the double kill, which gives you a great sense of power. Finally, we’ve added a lot of new assassination moves. You can pounce on your enemy from virtually anywhere in the city: rooftops, hiding spots, water, ledges etc …

These are just but a few of the new skills Ezio brings to the table; he has many more tricks up his sleeve…

How will you improve the crowd interaction for the second game and the role of the NPCs for blending/stealth/attack…?

In Assassin’s Creed 2, you have been betrayed by the ruling Italian Families – you will have to learn how to interact and use the ‘common people’ or, like we call them in the game, “the underworld”, to get your revenge. So you can generally consider that the crowd is on your side (except of course if you behave too badly!). First, any crowd NPC can help you to hide – just go into a group and press the blend button to enter a crowd and lower your chances of being noticed by guards. The crowd can help you to stealth through the city but aren’t 100% stealth proof as guards have various awareness levels depending of their class. We have also added a new “notoriety system” where your actions in the city will impact your notoriety and how you are “wanted” in the city.

You can use certain groups to perform specific actions. Those specific groups are called factions. There are a few factions in the game. There will be the thieves, the courtesans and the mercenaries. Through the game, you will meet various faction leaders. For example, Antonio of the thief guild will ask you to do certain missions for him. Once you gain Antonio’s thrust, the members of the thief guild will be fully operational to give you help and perform specific tasks. Each faction possesses their own unique skill for Ezio to use and manipulate his enemies with. For example, the courtesans will be able to go seduce and distract groups of guards letting Ezio sneak pass them unnoticed.

The entire game play/mission structure in Assassin’s Creed 1 was semi-linear and kept the same structure through the 9 assassinations. Will Assassin’s Creed 2 feature more missions and a wider variety in the structure and how the story unfolds?

The game structure and the mission system were the most crucial elements we wanted to improve on. We are redefining the overall mission structure to give gamers a more fun, rewarding and unpredictable experience throughout the game by adding a lot of variety in missions types and changing the way the story and the missions unfold.

There are no more patterns of missions to perform but rather a story that develops through a great amount of mission giving characters. Some characters will give you an assassination mission, others an escort/protect mission while some will give you a chase mission etc… There is no limit to the types of challenges we will give players. We invested most of our development time in ensuring that there is a huge amount of variety and depth in the missions required to finish the story. But we also want the player to have a real freedom and opportunity to explore and ‘use’ the world we have created at their own pace. Cities are now filled with a ton of missions that the player can do if she chooses: for instance, you can now decide to get rid of witnesses if you feel you are becoming too notorious after a not-so-stealthy assassination, or help thieves pursued by guards. These tasks are optional but will bring you interesting rewards if you accept to fulfill them.

When will it be released?

November 17th 2009

Is the PC version going to be released at the same time as the PS3 and 360?

Yes, we are planning to release the three versions at the same time.

Who is in charge of the development?

Core development on the PS3, X360 and PC versions of the game is handled by Ubisoft Montreal.
We also have other teams working on specific parts of the game in other Ubisoft studios to help us deliver the scope and quality we are looking for.

What I want to know is, with Assassins Creed 2, will there be a dominant version, or will they be basically, identical?

The core content of the experience is the same but there are some specific features linked to each platform’s technology. For instance, you will be able to connect your PS3 version of the game with Assassin’s Creed: Bloodlines on PSP to unlock exclusive content on both the PS3 and the PSP.

What are the PC specs?

We cannot confirm the PC spec right now.

Are there any achievements?

Yes there will be achievements and trophies in Assassin’s Creed 2.

Regarding the inclusion of Far Cry 2's vegetation system; will the game actually provide plenty of opportunities to show off this technology?

Even if our engine is different from Far Cry’s Dunia Engine, we were able to expand the features behind the Anvil/Scimitar to add the vegetation technology from Far Cry 2. Therefore you can expect amazing Tuscany landscapes!

Story

How is Assassin’s Creed 1 linked with Assassin’s Creed 2?

Assassin’s Creed 2 is the sequel to Assassin’s Creed. The events in the present start right where the first game left off but the Animus will plunge you into a very different & fresh historical period. Overall we are building on the strengths on the first episode, its unique sense of freedom and immersion and adding a lot more depth, variety and scope to the core gameplay.
Storywise, Ezio is a descendant of Altair and the connection between the two games will be revealed through an encoded book very much like the one Leonardo Da Vinci is famous for writing.

What is the storyline of the game?

Once again, Desmond will be exploring his DNA to relive an ancestor’s life, however this time it with a very different goal and it’s a very different kind of ancestor. Ezio Auditore Da Firenze; a nobleman who lived at the end of the 15th Century in Italy is our new hero. His family is betrayed and murdered by the ruling families of Italy, and Ezio must uncover the arts of his ancestors in order to avenge their death. To his allies, he will become a force for change - fighting for freedom and justice. To his enemies, he will become a boogey man – dedicated to the destruction of the tyrants of Italy. Through Ezio’s quest for vengeance, Desmond and the present day Assassins will uncover the crucial piece of the conspiracy that was hinted at in the first Assassin’s Creed game. The Templar/Abstergo plot is bigger than could have been imagined with consequences reaching to every detail of modern life as we know it.

Will there be an opportunity for the Desmond/future timeline to have more of a role this time? Will we be able to play as Desmond?

Yes, Desmond is back. He is helping the 2012 Assassins fighting the Templars by retrieving some vital information hidden in his genetic memory. But his role will not stop here and you will see that gameplaywise, Desmond has more tricks up his sleeves than what you saw in Assassin’s Creed…

Will there be any templars to kill in AC2? or some descendants of the templars ?

The main plot in Assassin’s Creed is a struggle between the Assassins and the Templars, so they are still in the game, and you’ll be able to fight them.

Is the franchise still planned to be a trilogy on X360, PS3 and PC?

Yes, that still is our vision. However, we want to continue extending the universe we’ve created. There are still many more stories we want to tell about the Assassin’s Brotherhood.

What about the cryptic signs that Desmond sees at the end of Assassin’s Creed? They didn’t refer to the Italian Renaissance, was that on purpose?

Those symbols were left by subject 16 who was previously kept captive by Abstergo. The symbols on the walls weren’t necessarily meant to hint at the location of the next game, but rather the global and timeless nature of the threat our heroes are facing. Having said that, I must admit we were really excited to see the amount of speculation and questions it raised amongst fans!

Well First post and first question all though I have a few, first off will the game be open minded to say you can go anywhere when you want & as you want or is there just one way, secondly will there be any involvement with Desmond because as with all the info supplied his name isn't mentioned, thirdly and lastly how are the dev team going to make assassins creed the greatest sequel ever to an equally great game? http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Will the PC screen ratio and HUD be done for PC to make the game easier to play on a keyboard and fill the full monitor or will it be like AC1 showing the console button config on screen and leaving black bars on over 90% of monitors to conform with the 16:9 ratio of HDTV's?

Non-AC2 Question: Will we ever get to Asia?

AC2 Question: Will there be a weapon available that is like a grappling hook and similar to Mortal Kombat's Scorpion's spear?

I would greatly appreciate an answer to either of these questions!

How will combat work? is it like AC1 where you just keep pressing the attack hand button? or will it be like a combo chain? or will it be fable 2 style where you follow the beat/timing...aslo will the graphics be improved to meet the standards of today's games (think gears of war, killzone 2, ect) or will it be similar to AC1?

LaurenIsSoMosh

I have a few questions:

In one of the released screenshots, Ezio is swinging a stave-ish weapon and several opponents are falling backward to dodge. Does this mean combat will no longer be attacking one enemy at a time?

You said you were addressing some of the most popular issues with the original Creed. One issue that I felt was quite popular was the lack of difficulty, and lack of difficulty settings. Can we expect multiple difficulty settings this time around, or in any way a more challenging gameplay experience?

And finally, what sort of rewards and bonuses can we look forward to from the collect-a-thons? Unlocked memories? New abilities?

Xanatos2007
05-27-2009, 06:01 PM
First, everyone seems to be focused mainly on the gameplay, but will the story for ACII deal with religion, existence, etc the way ACI did?

Secondly, will Jesper Kyd be scoring the soundtrack again? (hope so)

Thirdly, will we find out what happened to Altair?

Lastly, there seems to be a lot of focus on the combat side of things and the not-so-subtle approach. Well I'm a stealth game fan, so will Ezio be able to more stealthy things? I've heard about the blending-into-any-crowd, but this just seems like another hiding place. Is the AI going to be more challenging or something?

Hi so here are my questions: Is Altair returning at least as an unlockable costume? Are there any guns? Will Desmond be able to to fight or he is still only able to walk around again? Ezio has the eagle vision? Any Dynamic Weather? Multiplayer? Any explosives? thanks!!

Well, as I'm currently reading "April Blood: Florence and the Plot Against the Medici" to try and get a handle on the time period, I'm curious as to what books possibly influenced the new storyline. Obviously "The Prince" seems a shoe-in, but were there others?

Firstly I'd like to say that I'm brilliantly impressed with Ubisoft, you have great interaction with the fans through this forum. It's mad awesome.

I would like to know how large, in like... square kilometres (or miles) the game is. Or at least have it compared to the original.

Or whether Ezio actually joins the Assassins. That might be spoilers though. Feel free to PM me. http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-wink.gif

Thanks for offering this to us Ubisoft!

Hey folks. This is my first post since the viral website was deciphered; it's good to be back http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

So many questions... many were asked before, but still important:

1. RELEASE DATE!?!?! Not a general timeframe, a DATE!!!

2. Will we find out what happened to Altair, or why his descendents moved to Italy?

3. Will crowds be more life-like? If so, how? Big groups of people are cool, but if they just wander around and comment on what YOU'RE doing, they can get boring. Will they have their own conversations, errands, day-to-day tasks, etc?

4. Will there be weather? Night and day cycles will be a huge improvement, but night AND weather? I'll die a happy man http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

5. Will there be disguises? When we use disguises, will we have to steal them from some pedestrian or guard, or will we have a stockpile? If the latter, will we need to go to some central area to get a disguise, or will they just be in our cartoon-sized back pocket?

6. Are we only flying for one mission?

7. How many targets are we taking down?

8. How expansive are the environments, compared to AC1? Are they continuous, or will there still be loading screens? How much is there to do between cities, in the "kingdom"-type area?
How many cities are there, and what are they?

9. I've heard a lot about more varied missions, and that there are NO more eavesdropping or pickpocketing missions (I actually didn't mind these, they just got repetitive (like a lot of other things)). What are some of the new missions?

10. Gameplay footage? With swimming??? And Fighting/disarming? PLEEEEEAAASE!?!?!?!?!

11. Will we play as Desmond? If so, will we just sneak around Abstergo, or will we steal guns and use them? WILL WE ESCAPE???

12. Will we hear from any other modern-day assassins, or learn what became of Desmond's family?

13. How'd you come up with Italy? I didn't see any symbols at the end of AC1 that suggested Italy...Are you guys just throwing darts at a map? lol

14. If there's a day/night cycle, will Ezio ever need to sleep or rest?

...That's all I can think of right now. More to come, I'm sure http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

Will we play as desmond again? And if so will we go more places than just Abstergo???

Will there be lots of stealth?

Will we be doing missions that Da Vinci sets for us?

Thanks.

Hi

I have two questions. The first is to do with weather, as previously mentioned, with there be random weather cycles as in GTA games? If so will weather affect the way we play, for example, would rain make ledges slippery thus making the player have to adapt their play style slightly by taking things like that into account when being chased.

Secondly, I like how you can use shadows in games such as Splinter Cell, will Ezio be able to hide in the shadows and use them to avoid detection either when attacking a target or when trying to make an escape?

Cheers

Sorry if this has been asked and/or answered already.

Assassin's Creed was very repetitive: overhear a conversation, interrogate a person, go kill someone, etc. Will there be more variety in ways to gather information? And will there be more interesting things to do in addition to just assassinating people?

Will there be subtitles this time?

And why is Ezio having a sword in one of the pictures while jumping into the water, since you specifically (?) said that he wouldnt be wielding any weapons beside his throwing knives and hidden blades?

And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE add subtitles http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/16x16_smiley-very-happy.gif

Ok, firstly Ubisoft, please do not take this the wrong way:

As you probably know, the PS3 version of Assassin's Creed suffered severe frame rate issues and frame drops, whereas the Xbox 360 version ran as smooth as silk.

What I want to know is, with Assassins Creed 2, will there be a dominant version, or will they be basically, identical?

I am definitely curious to know if there will be any type of multiplayer for this game. there has been a really great thread on this forum of ideas for multiplayer and to see any of them come to life and have the chance to run around with friends in Venice would be amazing!

if there's not enough time for that can you promise us at E3 you will put multiplayer in AC3? : )

hmmm....let's see, what to ask. If AC is indeed planned as trilogy, and if altair was in the middle of three ancestors, could the third game possibly take place before the events of the first one?

Nice idea!

Will it be possible that Ezio wear something else than the typical Assassin clothes?

Will the "big events" - like the Pazzi conspiracy - going to be realy based on true happenings only?

Will the game have a opening End where Ezio would live on?

Hello there,
here's my Q. I hope there will be an A too.

Q: I saw some impossibilities in AC1, like when you assassinate someone, the hidden blade is 3 cm next to his neck and nowher in it. Or stabbing through chainmail. I heard there will be pikemen with heavy armor too. I don't want to be seeing Ezio stab right through it. so here's the main question: Have the assassinations been perfected and altered so, that there is more variation in killing guard than just the known ones(like 3 ways to kill from a distance with hidden blade)?

Will Assassin's Creed 2 be like a GTA game in terms of; Choosing the missions you wish to do first, 6 hours pass when you save, Doing anything you wish to do, (Not like GTA) Multiple endings based on decisions the player makes, being able to hide in dark places at night, buying items, buying costumes or obtaining them somehow, having a better physics engine than Assassin's Creed 1... not like when someone falls of a roof he's as jiggly as jelly. Interesting? I think so... Maybe...

Hi Ubisoft, can't wait for Assassin's Creed II!

I do have a few questions though...

Will the AI be a bit more intuitive? As in the enemies won't line up and wait for a stab at you?! It was terrible polite but not very difficult :P

Also, as someone else mentioned, will you be able to enter buildings? It's not very important but it would be a nice touch I think.

Thanks very much and hope that you have a productive time at E3!

So in the limited edition of Assasins Creed for the xbox 360, you guys talked about how a goal was to make the game not repetitive. If you guys still havnt been told, you failed. Assasins Creed was fun but the mose repetitive game ever. Have you changed anything in number 2 to give it a little replay value.

Hi Ubisoft...

Looking forward to E3 hope you have fun...

My question would be....

How will the interaction play with the NPC's this time round?

As we saw in Assassins Creed you saved a person from the guards and then they would repay you with having there people stop the guards by holding them so you could get away. It would be nice to see the NPC's interact more with the main character.

Hello again Ubisoft I know this is early for another question from me but it just now struck my mind and if the answer is no can you please add this to the game for reality issues (dont take it the wrong way cuz it is realistic but it just urks me this one) but anyway can you throw ladders out of the way or possibly break/cut them to stop guards from pursuing you cuz I would have trouble with that in ACI

MeesterZaal
05-29-2009, 03:52 AM
Hi there,

My question is: Before ACI was released, it was said to be the first game of a trilogy. After ACI was released, for some time, it was said that it was not sure of ACII would be made. Now that ACII is coming, will it be part 2 of a trilogy, with an open end and unanswered questions?

And my second question: What will the announced DLC be like?

Account_Deleted
05-29-2009, 05:34 AM
sorry if this has been answered but,
Is it possible you could have a moral/reputation system?.
as in you can work with the "athority" to complete a mission or work with civilians
but in return get rewards for any path choice?

( so in other words can we please have a RPG morale system?)

second q:
is it possible if Ezio has an wardrobe to boost the "blendding"in effect?

third q: could we have a weapon selective thing? or even weapon layouts such as, quick but high profile or slow but low profile

Xanatos2007
05-29-2009, 05:48 AM
There is a notoriety system, but I would have to disagree with the wardrobe. Assassin's Creed is a stealth/action game, not an RPG. And RPG's don't tend to be that "intense".

Adima5
05-29-2009, 06:48 AM
I've got a question about the "historical" part of the game:

Will Ezio's vengeance last for several years or the action will take place during one year (as it was in AC1)?

And another one:
Besides two hidden blades, will Ezio have any kind of his "own" weapon (i.e shortblade, like Altair, or a rapier) or he would have to take them from [dead] enemies?

Tenshi23
05-29-2009, 12:41 PM
@Dido: Definitely agree with your first question. http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_biggrin.gif

I have another question. As we all know Ezio has two hidden blades, is this due to a change in the assassins' signature kill or does the second blade belong to one of the family members he is avenging?

Sweetlou28man
05-29-2009, 08:55 PM
So there's news that we will get to meet Da Vinci himself. Since we've seen screen shots of Ezio using Da Vinci's flying machine and the First Teaser is that of Da Vinci's sketched versions of the Assassins' hidden blade...So my question is:
Will Da Vinci be to Ezio what Lucas Fox is to Batman? A weapons designer and somewhat of a mentor?

Q: Regarding the inclusion of Far Cry 2's vegetation system; will the game actually provide plenty of opportunities to show off this technology?

Q: Will the day and night system play a dynamic role, or will mostly be tailored to where you're currently at in the story?

Q: What, if any, precautions have been taken to ensure the portrayal of Da Vinci in the story doesn't offend many of his more "loyal" followers?

Q: What kind of experience(s) can we expect from the Da Vinci machine flying scenes? Are they simply there to fit in the story, or can we take the contraption out for leisurely test runs?

Hello Ubisoft, I like this idea of getting our questions answered at E3. So here's mine:

1. When the Game Informer article mentioned the notoriety system somthing occured to me. When you say a way to lower your notoriety by ripping down posters of your face, does this mean in order to blend better Ezio takes off his hood? I realize this would ruin the whole idea of being sneaky but if you were sneaky to begin with how would they see your face unless you remove your hood?

2. With the announcment that there will be DLC for Assassin's Creed 2, what would be the content? New unlockable memories? Possibly dealing with Rome or the Vatican? That is if those two cities aren't included in the release.

3. (This one's a bit of an inside forum joke)
In what way would Ezio be able to utilize brothels? Judging from what I have seen it looks like you can do missions for brothel owners. As a reward would you be able to have the woman seduce the guards to allow you to sneak by or gather information.

4. Will we be learning more about Desmond in this game? Example would be flash backs or somthing.

5. Will Altair's fate be explained before you step into Ezio's shoes? As well will Ezio's backstory (how he grew up) and possible future be explained at the end of the game?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post and I hope you are able to answer these questions.

My questions are

1.Seriously will there be a multiplayer. if there is it could shoot AC2 to the top top of the list for must get games of 2009!!!!
2.Will there be more random events rather than everything that can happen to you being planned out and always happening in the same way and if so will it affect the way the story progresses?
3.Will the physics of stabbing people with chain mail and also the way people flop or fall when they die be more realistic!?!
4.lastly will collectibles (like flags, killing templars, and memory glitches) be linked to something unlockable and make you want to do them for more reasons than just 1,000 out of 1,000 gamerscore for the game?

By the way I did get 1,000 out of 1,000G for the first game! Awesomeness!!!!

One of my greatest frustrations in AC I was the control scheme's somewhat frustrating quirks, such as the short blade/throwing knife button repeat on 360 that caused wasted knives due to downed enemies.

Will AC II eliminate such redundancies, especially with the wider variety of available
weapons and abilities?

Also, can users expect any degree of "controlled" executions/counters that can be altered based on context and some kind of user command (tilt a control stick, whatever) beyond just tapping "X" to make it a counter-kill?

Online?

As any fan of the Assassin's Creed, I was wondering if there will be any online multiplayer/co-op, like a team of 4-8 players (assassins) working as a team to kill the heavily guarded A.I target. And i don't mean 15-20 guards, maybe between 25-50 guards. That would definitely add to the replay value, because after completing Assassins Creed 1 several times, i was left wondering what else could have made the game last longer than a month or two. With an online addition to the already gripping story, AC2 will no doubt dominate other games at E3. Ohhh...i just hope (fingers crossed) http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/11.gif

Dont you think that creating a franchise inspired by historical events, which somehow "respects" some laws of "realism" and "human abilities" (such as parkour), [AC] turns to be riddiculous when you twist/mix it with something completely fantasy-like and unreal, just as Leonardo DaVinci's flying (and actually succesfully working) machine<span class="ev_code_red">[AC2]???</span>

1. Will there be rewards? That is, even if it is open and non-linear, are there hidden things or smaller tasks that can earn you secret weapons or useful upgrades, even fun cheats?

2. I'd love to see the weather and time change! Will it? And I suppose it's asking too much to have a game that responds to your character's shadow if it falls in the enemy's line of sight...

3. What kinds of street characters will there be? AC1 had helpful monks and punks, hindering drunks/crazies and the poor, as well as jar-carriers...what will this game have? Can we steal from anyone, or find things more useful than flags? Can we talk to merchants or whomever we want? I heard about the variety in hiding points, and smart guards -- this info was great to hear!

with Ezio's elevated social status and rep as a ladies man, would there happen to be any romantic elements in the game to charm some ladies in between shankin baddies? It would be kinda wicked if Ezio had to get in close with a woman to get close to his target. Or maybe the woman can turn out to be the target and you do her in during a 'romantic' moment to catch her off guard or something lol.

First, I have heard rumors that Ezio will be able to strip his enemies of their weapons and will be able to use them against them. Is this true? And if so, then will it add a more complicated twist to the combat controls?

Second, will the "Out of the Animus" story be continued? It was a nice break from the main story. Will we be able to explore more of Abstergo and if so will it more like it was in AC1? With the puzzles, like having to read the E-mail in the computer telling him to keep his key in a pocket, so you know to grab it? Or will the "Out of the Animus" story be more of a "Story"? like will he be able to jump and climb and get guns or sticks or whatever and escape possibly from Abstergo to find his family or get in contact with modern-day Assassins?

Third, I have also heard rumors that the game will be sort of "Real Time". Meaning that there will be night and day. If there will be night and day, will this possibly effect Ezio's ability? Like will it be harder for enemies to see him at night? Also will there be weather, and will it also effect his abilities? Like will it be easier to fall down in the rain?

Hey!! I am SOOOOOOOO excited about the new Assassins Creed 2!!!!! I was wandering if there was going to be any demo's coming out for the Assassins Creed 2 game, specially since the first game had no demos? Although I do understand if you all may not be making a demo since you are busy creating the game ^_^ I am soo excited and a large fan of this game, you guys are doing a great job so far! Not that the information in the cut scenes were boring in AC1, but have the length of the cut scenes been drastically decreased or been made interactive by the player in AC2? Because sitting through those AC1 cut scenes was like watching grass grow...

Since this is in ancient Italy in the time of Shakesphere, do we get to have a mission, where we assassinate the person playing Romeo or Juliet?

Also, do we get bonus content for having and completing Assassin's Creed I like an unlockable Altair costume or something?

Sweet! i hope some of my questions will be answered.

1. Will the game be longer than the first one?

2. What towns/cities will be in the game and will they be bigger than the three cities in AC1?

3. Will there be any buildings you can enter? How many (approx)?

4. Will you still have the option to turn blood and gore off?

5. Will we be able to skip cutscenes (like after a assassination)?

6. As we already know, Ezio will be a "ladies man". How far will this go? will there be ******s and stuff like gta4? (not that I want this just want to know, hope they don't add too much of this in... just wouldn't feel to much assassin like i guess.)

7. I read in an article (forget what mag) and it had the name of a woman who was his love interest (or something like that, i think her name started with a p...), is this true?

8. How old will Leonardo Da Vinci be during this time period? Im expecting early twenties... but they might mix stuff up a bit....

Those are some of my questions. Hope they get answered!

So i have a few questions.

First off, will there be a difficulty option. As a big fan of AS i loved the game but i was dissappointed in that it was much too easy. I don't think i have died even once- falling in the water seems to be the only way!

Secondly, will there be a greater variety in the side missions as they got to be very repetative by the end.

To sum up... i just want a harder game that makes you feel as if you have accomplished something special in pulling off an assasination.

It has been said by Ubisoft several times in various interviews that there will be roughly 15 new mission types.

In total there will be about 100 main story missions and about 100 extra missions or side quests. So roughly 200 missions overall.

My qustion is :

Will this game be mainly about Ezio, with the Brotherhood becoming just the link to the previos game, or the other way around? (I hope It's the latter..)

Will the game show what happened to Altair after the end of the first game?

Will the Piece of Eden be directly involved with Ezio? (that is to say, will he actuall find/look for it?)

Will Altairs codex explain what happened to the Brotherhood after Al Mualim was killed?

Another question.

Altair had to have had children for Ezio and Desmond to exist. An informer in Damascus mentioned a girl named "Ada". Is it possible Altair married her and started a family?

Also, being an assassin as a day job would probably scar the kids. Is it possible Altair wrote the Codec and passed it down to Malak as a successor in order to keep tradition?

ROBJ808
06-06-2009, 07:48 AM
on the playstation store on the ps3 in the new e3 section you can down load the trailer and it says altiar wrote the codex and ezio will study them to eradicate corruption and restore his familys honor.(also the good thing about watching it on the ps3 is HD on a big scren and you can press triangle and use the fram advance function which moves the frames very slowly so you can pick out details like the fact it is a pellet fired from the gun not a blade)
also apparently the new ac starts sttraight away from where the las ac ended so i think alot of the desmond altiar questions will be answered through the game.

what does the cape do?

is there any 2 player, co-op or online multiplayer involved in this game?

they don't mention Rome a lot that's why i'm wondering if Rome is still a city that will be playable in AC2 ...Also the fact that they took pictures in Rome (was in the game informer interview) made me think about it...

Hello great devolopers of AC || - I would like to know, if there's going to be some sort of Online/Multiplayer action feature? :-) ' I was example thinking of Deathmatch Online, Co-op. Or huge online gaming, were u can make your own assasin clan, and be up to 30 players http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

- Since there wasn't any sort of Online gameplay in the previous AC |, it would be nice to have it on AC || - Because after u've done campaign for AC |, it gets kind of boring since u only can collect flags, save citizens, kill templars and free running.. That should be avaible to on AC || but just with Online gameplay, so ppl will keep playing on their 1st game instead of making new campaigns.

I think that you should change that. We know that Throwing Knives will be in the game, and we know the gun will be in the game. Both weapons have advantages and disadvantages, so it stands to reason that we will have access to both of them (I'd wager at the same time, too). </div></BLOCKQUOTE>Patrice states in this (http://www.joystiq.com/2009/06/10/interview-assassins-creed-2-creative-director-patrice-desilet/) Joystiq interview, that the hidden guns are replacing the trowing knifes.

Joystiq: I saw in the trailer that he made a gun for Ezio, attached to his wrist.

Patrice: Yeah.

Joystiq: How does that work in the game? Will you have an aiming reticle?

Patrice: We're working on the gun mechanics right now in Montreal. I cannot go into too detail because we are not pleased with what we have right now. Basically, the gun is replacing the throwing knives.

In the first game you could throw some throwing knives and you would kill with one shot. This time it's the gun that would kill with one shot but it takes more time to reload and you have to buy bullets and things like that, because we have an economic system this time around.

But the reticle, it's not about aiming. We're having fun with some concepts in Montreal about how to make that gun more fun than only marking off someone and shooting. You'll see. You'll see. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

PLEASE PLEASE I IMPLORE YOU TO FIX COMBAT AND RAGDOLL PHYSICS IN AC2.

AC1 was a ground breaking game.I applaud what the game set out to do.However it stumbled hard in certain areas which truly blocked the game from reaching perfection.

Combat was fun with emphasis on timing. But it could be improved. It became repetitive later on in the game.Blocking should have a meter if one blocks to much.

There should be dismemberment for sure.Asassins are badboys and should be allowed to behead anyone.

The ragdoll physics need serious work. They would fall and wrythe on the floor strangely.

More blood please.Assasins Creed 2 is meant to played by men,not kiddies.Lack of copious amounts of blood is unacceptable.

FIX FIX FIX PLEASE

On the contrary, it is 100% acceptable. The blood in AC was balanced and realistic. This isn't Ninja Gaiden you're playing. Realistic blood is as far as it needs to go. Furthermore, unrealistic amounts of blood isn't what makes one game more "mature" than another. Just more goofy and cartoony.
Why are so many gamers obsessed with spurting blood? What a totally creepy thing to want to see!

I think he meant the writhing when you kill someone on a slope or throw them off a rook. Their corpses do resemble a cat getting hit by a car, the bodies tend to have a bit of a spasm. While entertaining to watch it does take away from the realism. Not a serious glitch that impares gameplay, but one that they can improve nonetheless.

Xanatos2007 nailed what i was trying to say.Killing someone on a slope or throwing them off would result in an electric spasm.Very unrealistic.

No the blood in AC1 was unrealistic and pretty much non existent.Assassins Creed touts amazing graphics and nobody is asking for a Ninja Gaiden bloody mess. However the blood spatter should be more realistic spraying on objects etc.It should also be present on enemies wherever they are hit.Actually AC would benefit from a thing or two by looking at NINJA GAIDENS dismemberment.
Blood is a realistic aspect of all action games and i hate it when it is overlooked.
If you dont have the stomach for it then i advise you to go back to Viva Pinata.

Dude, you're forgetting one thing, this is Assassin's Creed, not God of War or Ninja Gaiden. The core of the gameplay is stealth killing, Parkour, etc. AC isn't about brutal combos or dismemberment. Ezio needs to kill without drawing a lot of blood, because even if he hides the body, the guards will discover the massive blood trail and follow it right to him. Ezio also isn't a warrior, like Altair. He's good at fist fighting and disarming. Ezio specializes in hand-to-hand combat and stealth. He's nimble and very athletic and quick. He needs to be, because he can't take an army of soldiers by himself. Ezio will only have to fight if necessary. His main objective is to stay incognito and to assassinate his target with as little attention drawn to him as possible.

That's what assassin's creed is about. Being a force to be reckoned with. Not by being a brutal warrior, but by being death, hiding in the shadows, killing while not being seen.

Games aren't all about blood. They're about fun, story, and gameplay. focusing on simple things like blood means you aren't getting the best experience. Destroy All Humans! has no blood, but it is a fun and entertaining series.

ACII doesn't need to be a big blood bath to be awesome. The fact that you cause people to **** their pants in fear of death that they can't see coming, makes you feel powerful and in control. Plus there are already some awesome and brutal counter kills, and they're still bloody.

it shouldn't be that big of an issue.

Listen bro i will repeat it one more time.I am not asking for a bloody orgy.Assassins Creed is a masterpiece visually. When you proceed to stab someone its gonna get messy. No there doesnt have to be a swimming pool of blood left but there should be some.It is non existent in AC1 and that just detracts from the immersion.

Who said the core of the gameplay is stealth.Sorry but i am badass and took out anyone who came near me in plain sight.Anybody had a problem with that then BAM...they gone too.Sorry but i dont remember dragging or hiding any bodies in AC1 so yes there should be way more blood spatter and realistic too.Sorry but if you skewer a pig its gonna be messy. This game needs to address that and stop being cheap.Oh by the way i was a brutal mother in the first and yes i took on an army of soldiers wave after wave.Lets just say i am good with a blade.

I expect the very best from games. So far i have seen nothing in AC2 which screams out at me.Look at the combat. Its the same boring precanned animations.SO LAME AND CHEAP.

Hello UBISOFT how about stopping with the spoon feeding.I want to be in control of combat.Combat should all be physics based. This game has potential but it looks like its being wasted from what i have seen at E3.

Ah, jenguando, give it some time. There hasn't been much gameplay released by Ubisoft yet, so don't judge AC2 so much yet. What we've seen so far is a mere feather from the bird.

As for not seeing any blood in the E3 gameplay... there is a way to turn off the blood with the Animus.

What I really want to know... for DAMN sure... is Desmond's origins. They should have done so in AC1...

A feather from the bird? More like a piece of down from the entire flock!

As for Desmond's origins, I don't think we'll know his full story until ACIII. We might get to see his parents and where he comes from in ACII, but they'll open up some more questions to be answered in ACIII. I just hope it's not something cheesy like "He's the chosen one!"

I can't agree with this, I'm sorry but the way you say it makes you come off like a 14 year old kid, trying to act like a man. AC already has close to realistic blood, it already has the spray of blood, when you stick a sword through a man, cut his throat, and likewise, and this is already a little unrealistic. I find your image of reality related gore pretty far off, all of the enemies in AC pretty much wears armor, so if we're going to be technical, and realistic, there really should only be blood on the sword, and spray when you cut the throat, and even that's pushing the realism a bit.

Take this video for ex:

Click (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQvgd2Phn28)

Here you can see that when altair slashes the enemy with his sword there comes this kind of blood cloud, this is actually unrealistic, but it's okay, cause it adds to the effect an the brutality, it just cool without stealing focus.

The game actually proclaimed to be a stealth, you being all bad *** mofo and all, you still gotta have noticed, all the running and hiding. Of course the game leaves it open that you can just take them head on, after all it feels good to be superior in fighting.

I also disagree with AC2 looking lame and cheap, I have no idea where you get that from, we have many more weapons, counterattacks, stealth kills, everything has practically been upgraded, If you haven't seen any blood, it might be because it's a presentation or something, because I can agree that there was no blood the AC2 videos, which of course leaves it a little less satisfying. Nontheless, I believe this is something they will put in.

Xanatos2007

The reason for it looking "cheap" was because it is an early demo in a level designed specifically for presentation. Take this video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iEdkDOIe8YM) for example and compare it to the final product. See what I mean? Completely different.

Hi just wanted to ask a question dunno if its been asked or answered yet but il ask any way..

how can there be a multiplayer in AC2? there is only one persefic character and it wouldnt me much fun seeing thousands of enzios(sp) running about.

well that wasmt my question really this is....

could there be a part of the story were the assassin can meet sum one like love nearly. ino this must sound soooooo cheesy but id like a story like that and then sum thing happens til her and so on. it could be such a good episode in AC2 or iprob could wait til AC3 http://forums.ubi.com/images/smilies/blush.gif

oh ino im just after asking a question but i have another one

when you are in a battle say with a sword, in AC it took ages for altiar to change his weapon, so in AC2 will enzio be quicker. as in if he made an enemy stagger could u easily and quickly use your hidin blade to finish him off?

its just sum thing im curious about

UBOSOFT-Gamer
06-23-2009, 09:41 AM
Are there any ideas for AC3? Which time period or even more time periods? In Europe or other places on earth AND will you fight the modern templars in AC3 you saw at the end of AC1?

Next question:

Is Ezio going to find another piece of eden in venice? If so, how it is possible, since the world map doesn't show a location in whole italy! And the map of the world shows clearly the worldmap of the begining 21th century!!

See the map!
http://images1.wikia.nocookie.net/assassinscreed/images/9/9d/Poemap.jpg

*EDIT*

Is there a chance to understand the link between Ezio and Altair without playing "The truth is written in blood"?

Any possibilities to get AC4 or will it end after Ac3?

As i like history, the crusades facinates me too. I always whished to have the ability to walk around in the holy land virtually. I think you made a very well job, thank you! I never got boring of all those assasinations like so may other players.

I am curious if got advice by historians or if you - the team - readed books, watched movies about the Renaissance, the Medici, etc. to get a better inview about the time.
Some of you visited Venice, Firenze, toscany and rome and made 10.000 photos.

Also i am curious who brought up the thing with the Renaissance? The chief developer or teammembers?

Two question
One: Doses AC2 have any connection with the storyline of AC1, The pieces of Eden and Altair.

Two: Will there be more options on the menu other that 'new' and 'continue' because I would really like to assassinate another player.

Question One has already been answered, it's nothing to do with Altair now, Altair stopped when AC1 ended, but the story of the peices of Eden still remain.

Hey guys! I´ll try to answer some of the last questions the best I can with the inside info I have right now.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">how can there be a multiplayer in AC2? there is only one persefic character and it wouldnt me much fun seeing thousands of enzios(sp) running about. </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

YES, there will be multiplayer, but don´t worry, you wont see dozens of Ezios on screen.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">When you are in a battle say with a sword, in AC it took ages for altiar to change his weapon, so in AC2 will enzio be quicker, as in if he made an enemy stagger could u easily and quickly use your hidden blade to finish him off? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Changing weapons will be just like in AC1, but most of the time you´ll be using your enemy´s weapons against them.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Is Ezio going to find another piece of eden in venice? If so, how it is possible, since the world map doesn't show a location in whole italy! </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Short answer: no, but there is something else he must find.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Is there a chance to understand the link between Ezio and Altair without playing "The truth is written in blood"? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
You mean Bloodlines? Yes, but you wont have a full understanding unless you play bloodlines. You know, it´s like Matrix and Animatrix. In Matrix Morfeo tells Neo there was a war against the machines and they loose. In Animatrix you are able to watch and understand how the whole thing happened. It´s something like that.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">If the two main cities have 5 districts then how many districts does the third smaller city in Tuscany have? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

Tuscany is like the Kingdom in the first game. In the kingdom you will find various villages and a small city. There are no districs there, but there will be a few missions.

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">Does Ezio know Who Altair is? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>
Earlier in the game Ezio will discover who Altair was through a book left by Altair himself, and... anything else would be too spoilerish http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">u should have like co op stuff </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

No co op, sorry. As I said earlier there will be mutiplayer, but it will be nothing like what you have in mind. Let me explain it in two words: Playstation Home.

One last thing: there will be dcl, but you have no idea what I will be, believe me! http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

Do you need Animatrix or Matrix Online to understand the Matrix trilogy? No, but you would have a better undestanding of that universe and the events of the movies if you watch them, play them, ... Same thing here.

I know what you mean, but if you really love the franchise you should take the time to read about it and try to understand the whole plot. One more thing: if you think AC had a complex story, just wait for AC2. It´s more complex, but at the same time more enjoyable (in my opinion) http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif

<BLOCKQUOTE class="ip-ubbcode-quote"><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-title">quote:</div><div class="ip-ubbcode-quote-content">will AC2 support xbox live? </div></BLOCKQUOTE>

I don´t know, sorry.

One last thing. I have no idea why Ubisoft is trying so desperately to hide the fact that ROME will be the third city in AC2. I thought they would confirm that in the E3, but they didn’t. Weird.

So bottom line confirmed cities are Venice and Florence, also the Tuscan country side and wet lands

If we refer to a map of Italy with the distinct regions delimited, we can see Venice is in region 5 and Florence in region 9 which is Tuscany

regions 5 and 9 are connected by region 8
Does that mean that region 8 will be added in the game?

also region 12 contains Rome (also in ROME Vatican city is found)
Thus does that also mean region 12 is in the game?

What do you guys think? UBISOFT NEED MORE PLZ

No demo.

meleh1987

If Ubi decided to make a demo I think it would be too much work think of it.

If they give us the exact e3 demo ppl might get disappointed because the new features may only include the fighting mechanics and other slight improvements. This may turn off other users ( personally I wouldn't care already pre-ordered it)

But If they had to release one they would have to include some of the new features to attract the audience that were skeptical about the first game ex: monetary system, notoriety system etc ...

I'm guessing the reason for no demo is that exactly

But that just means PLZZZZZZ UBI MAKE SLIGHT IMPROVEMENTS ON THE E3 DEMO AND GIVE IT TO US.

4 months and a couple of weeks is much to long of a wait

Hay bales, benches, piles of wool, carts filled with fishes, underwater, ... You can even hide under bridges if they are near, so you don´t have to hold your breath underwater while you are swimming.

And finally, just to give you something new. Horses wont be the only way of transport between cities this time. There will be something faster... that´s right, carriages!! Prepare for some cool chasing missions http://forums.ubi.com/groupee_common/emoticons/icon_wink.gif
