Hi all,

This excellent series was originally shown on the Discovery Channel in the early 1990's. I've been looking for a complete NTSC DVD edition of this series for some time. I thought I had my hands on a new set last year, but the supplier ran out. I've been able to purchase three volumes on Ebay, but so far no other volumes appear to be available.

Does anyone here have a set they are interested in selling? If so, I have a paypal account that can be used for payment.

Don't have the set... but this site has the DVD set or the VHS set. $39.95

Hunters in the Sky - Box Set 4 DVD + 20"x 21" Poster
Cliff Robertson presents this documentary covering the real-life experience of fighter pilots during WWII. Featuring interviews with Allied and Axis aces, you'll revisit and hear tales of both the European and Pacific theaters in 8 episodes on 4 DVDs. You'll also get the 64-page Hunters in the Sky: A Visual Guide to World War II Aircraft book, containing color profiles, schematics and more; a bonus 40-minute program, Keeping the Hunters Flying, which discusses restoration efforts; and a 20"x 21" poster showing the national markings used by each country to identify their craft in battle.

I bought the 13 episode set on 3DVDs here in Oz a couple of months ago.

The good news is $A is about 75c US. Bad news is it's in PAL.

Thanks guys. Unfortunately, the link to Historic Aviation sends me to the vendor I tried getting the DVDs from. Their site doesn't list Hunters in the Sky anymore. I wonder why if it's available in PAL for Australia, why a compatible reissue for the U.S. market isn't available too?

Thanks for the help.

What is PAL ?

Does that mean it is not compatible with many DVD players. I was just getting ready to by an Aussie version bummer.

Amazon.com does not have the full set but is has a few of the seperate titles. Ater calling Historic Avaiation, I was told to contact customer service for details about the Hunters in the Sky 4-pack DVD set. I did the same with Amazon.com, hopefully they can help find the complete set.

I have it on five videos. Got at a discount store for $1.99. The clip of the P-40's colliding is harrowing....

PAL and NTSC are the broacast standards used in different parts of the world. US uses NTSC, Australia uses PAL. Read the full blurb at
www.michaeldvd.com.au/Articles/PALvsNTSC/PALvsNTSC.asp (http://www.michaeldvd.com.au/Articles/PALvsNTSC/PALvsNTSC.asp)
Significant is this statement
"As a further aside, if you have a Region 1 DVD player you in all likelihood cannot play PAL DVDs both for reasons of Region locking and because the great majority of Region 1 DVD players have had their PAL playback ability disabled, not to mention the fact that most NTSC display devices cannot display PAL images."
Now this is a 6 year old article and I've noticed that DVD players sold here in Oz are often labelled 'NTSC compatible' (for use with PAL TV) so this information may be out of date. Check before you buy.

Roger that wayno7777, another clip of two Beauforts colliding above Sydney Harbour is rather distressing as well.

I've got the DVD set, it's pretty beaut but I remember noting whilst watching it there were a few discrepancies.
